I carry a small pocket knife just because it is handy to have. It is nothing special but something I got as part of a gift set a long time ago.
Leatherman in my knapsack at all times. Amazing how many times I’ve been screened and not had it found.
Yes, another vote for the Swiss Army Knife
Darned straight I do.
I carried Swiss Army knives for years.
I now carry a nice bone-handled two-blade Remington that I received as a birthday gift last year.
I love apples, and I always eat them using a pocket knife.
I rarely carry a knife on me anymore. I tend to just use one of my keys for most minor things that require one. Except when I’m traveling by plane rarely am I in a situation where I can’t just go to my truck and get any tool I need including knives. I keep a full set of electrical and pluming tools in my truck for emergency calls.
I have one I found while camping on an island in the middle of the Zambezi river back in 1999.
It’s the small keyring version but is useful for bits ‘n’ bobs.
Spyderco Delica in my pocket nearly all the time. Not sure it qualifies as a small pocket knife, but it’s certainly a pocket knife.
For years, I carried a Zippo money clip with a small nail file and knife. Last weekend, after many, many flights, it was finally noticed and confiscated at airport security. I’m looking for a replacement now, but I voted yes anyway.
Leatherman Wave while working…and it’s probably saved me a hundred trips back to my toolbag or down off a roof. I have a small gerber single blade I carry when I don’t want the weight of the Leatherman. Can’t say enough about Leatherman customer care. Had my original for about 6 years, had broken the serrated blade and took a chunk out of the wire cutter teeth. When I sent it in for repair, they replaced it with the new model, with a sheath that the old one never had.
I usually use keys to cut tape or string. However, I would probably curl up and die if I didn’t have both a flat head and Phillips screwdriver at hand 24-hours a day. I carry the round screwdriver on my keychain.
Sidebar: I hear people talking about needing a knife to eat an apple. I’ve never seen anyone cut up an apple unless it was going into a pie.
Using a knife, plate or cutting board and the resulting clean-up seems like a big mess. Why not just bite into it?
A small, two inch, single blade, lock blade. Very handy. I use it almost daily – for cleaning out a pipe or finger nail cleanup if nothing else. A real pain with court room security, however. I don’t want to think about the number of times I have had to have a bailiff of security officer hold it for me until I finished my business.
I have two pocket knives. One is in the desk drawer in my office, and the other is next to the roll of duct tape in the garage. I find that a pocket knife is the best and most convenient tool for slicing duct tape.
I have a keyring one as well. It’s a Swiss Army knockoff and the blade is kind of pitiful but it can occasionally be quite useful.
My dad carried one all the time. I recognize the utility of one, but do not carry one.
I carry one constantly. The one and only knife I buy is a Gerber Air Ranger. Has a slim stainless handle, with texturing to get a good grip with greasy hands(as mine often are), cleans easily(entirely stainless steel), and its trim design and lack of rubber grips on the side(as well as the pocket clip) make it a breeze to slip in and out of your pocket.
I carry a middling Swiss army knife and I use it every day for work. And it’s indispensable when hiking or camping. I’ve used everything but the corkscrew.
I see the newer ones have an altimeter and a (green?) laser pointer in them now. I could use both. Hmmm.
I always have my knife with me. I used to carry a Wenger Traveler Swiss Army but now I carry a simple Gerber AR only mine is a 3 1/2".
FWIW, I always preferred Wenger to Victorinox because the scissor mechanism seemed to be a much better design.
Two actually - a Swiss Army knife, and Leatherman tool with a small knife on it, along with other cool things. I am quite unhappy when I fly with only carryon baggage and have to leave them at home.
Darn handy also. When I was in grad school, my key broke off in the lock of my apartment, and I used my knife to remove a window in order to get in.
Swiss Army Knife on my keychain. There have been many over the years as I can be rough on them.
This is the current one. I like the one with the ripsaw better but it’s just too big for a keychain.
Heck, just got my 10 year old girl her first one. She’s thrilled.
