oooh no! I LIKE armpit hair, don’t shave it!
If it has never been shaved it’s all soft and snuggly, just right for burying my nose in. Yum.
(Caveat: it has to be a CLEAN pit!)
Probably deserves a new thread, but what is the consensus on male maintenance down there. Starting to feel a bit bushy. Past female partners have said no.
Alright Hokkaido Brit you owe me a new pair of pants. I just pissed mine from laughing so hard.
Anyway I shaved mine once; I liked it, but got ripped on by my friends for doing it. So now I just keep it trimed. I try to find that happy medium to where it’s short enough it doesn’t bother me yet long enough my friends don’t notice I’m triming it.
As of lately I’ve been noticing some sprouts are starting to grow on my back. I’m seriously considering going somewhere to have it waxed. Anybody know how much that would cost me?

But why??? Is it so kinky??? I tell you, soft snuggly yummy (clean!) armpit hair on a nice guy really does it for me!
Wanders away, with a dreamy look on her face…
Are you kidding? Took me long enough to grow the damn stuff in the first place! I’ll shave the neck and cheeks, and the beard is neatly trimmed, but that’s as far south as the blade is going.
Where’s that barfing smiley when you need it?
(Welcome to the SDMB!)
Most salons that do waxing have a range of prices for back waxing. Some guys have a few little patches, and some guys have a pelt. My local house of pain lists a back wax as “$45 and up.”
Lots of competitive cyclists and swimmers shave, it’s sort of part of the uniform. I compete in triathlons, and I shave all body hair for races. I let it grow back in during the off-season and if there’s a long break between events. It’s supposed to reduce drag while swimming and riding (it makes no noticeable difference*, IMHO), and also on the bike it makes it easier to clean road rash (from experience, a very real benefit).
[sub]* I once read about a study that found cyclists were something like 10 seconds faster over a 40km course if they shaved.[/sub]
I wish more guys would take to shaving their pits.
There’s nothing quite like walking along enjoying some ice cream or something and seeing a guy in a tank top or one of those sleeveless tees suddenly raise his arm for some reason, and getting an eyefull of pit hair. Other body hair doesn’t bug me, but something about how unkempt pit hair even sticks out in little poofs on the front and back, even when the arms are down, just really skeeves me out. It’s like the male equivalent of those hiphugger pants that show off half your ass crack. At least cover it up. Bleh.
I’ve been bugging the bf to shave his pits, or at least buzz the hair short with the clippers, for months, but so far he won’t even humour me enough to try it once and see if he actually likes it or not.
I don’t shave. Not anywhere, not ever.
