grienspace, did you do mushrooms for New Years? I know it’s a BC tradition.

Beheading of civilians
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/4953015
Now, the burden is for you to cite that every single resistance fighter and terrorist in Iraq is linked by a communications system. It is your burden to prove they share the same ideals and same tactics, and that those who attack American soldiers always behead aid workers and target civilians.
Good luck. I am surprised you gave me so easy a challenge.
Note: The first link is simply a cite of resistance. It is not an endorsement of said resistance, nor is it an acknowledgment of the valdiity of the information contained in the cite. Rather, it is a cite proving that indeed, a resistance does exist which is such a ludicrous request on the part of Mr Grienspace that I had to oblige.
Your patience and understanding demands a reward. Here’s a bunny with a panake on his head.

I wanna see the video of the bunny flipping the pancake up with a head toss and catching it in midair.
Actually I did. I had white mushroom caps filled with a wonderful spinache and artichoke dip broiled in the oven for 10 minutes. Delicious
Lissa, Your first link characterizing the Iraqi resistance doesn’t work. Your second link centres around one abduction and beheading that supports a connection between factions who were loyal to Saddam and factions loyal to terrorists from outside the country. The fact is that the insurgency probably involves many cells, motivated for different reasons but they remain within the non Kurdish Sunni community .
Your assertion that there is one group whose sole purpose is fighting American soldiers and another group whose sole purpose is killing Iraqis and civilians just doesn’t make any sense, and its the first time I’ve ever heard such a thing. You still haven’t even remotely supported that claim. Sorry.
The coding was a little screwy: http://www.albasrah.net/moqawama/english/iraqi_resistance.htm
Did it occur to you that that this is such a bizarre idea that you clearly misunderstood?
In fact has that thought ever occurred to you in any of your life’s discussions?
Here’s a hint for this one: noone said or implied “sole purpose”, you added that part in your head.
I hope that you read this. You certainly deserve an answer. I apologize sincerely for the times I have left you hanging.
First, your response to my questions indicated a lot of thought and time spent in composing your answer. I had certainly planned to respond in full this time. The only reason that I didn’t is because of Aldebaran’s banning. That was like a punch in the gut – even though I could see it coming. It left me depressed and I just didn’t have the heart.
I know there have been times when I have walked away from threads. Most of the time it isn’t intentional. (About the only time it is intentional is when I feel it best to walk away from a tense situation. I’ve never felt there was anything that you and I couldn’t talk through or listen to each other about, so that doesn’t happen with you.
One of the main reasons is short term memory problems. My memory is so bizarre that I don’t even remember how I found the Straight Dope or chose my handle. I remember to do a search to see what I have most recently posted, but…well, I forget to remember…I guess.
I do want to comment on one thing so that you don’t misunderstand. Just because I disagree with you about people being free to do what they want to in this country, that doesn’t mean that I don’t love my country. I’ve just seen it go downhill in the last few years and become more repressive and controlling. I love it enough to want to “liberate” it.
On the other hand, I have been in countries that I do feel function better than we do these days. Have you ever seen a country with no poverty, for example? I have. Their health care was better, people did not try to control each other’s lives as much, the family was very important, the standard of living was high, each employee had five weeks of vacation every year, the streets were safer, very few accidents were caused by people who were DUI because penalties were very severe on the first offense, and so on.
I no longer think this is the best country in the world. I think that we have been and that we can be again. But I’m beginning to think that it won’t happen in my lifetime.
I know that we disagree on this. Just know that your optimism is one of the things that I like most about you.
Peace, friend.
They are! They all have a series of connected cartilage rings that vibrate at frequncies that can be decoded with a system that consists of membranes, bones and vibrating hairs. It sounds outragious, but it’s true!
Zoe, thank you very much for your very nice and comprehensive answer. I’m glad to know it wasn’t as I had feared, which was that you might have simply been reluctant to deal with my follow up to whatever you might say. You strike me a gentle and sensitive soul and I was afraid you might be reluctant to respond out of fear that you’d get bogged down in an unpleasant argument that you really didn’t want to be a part of. I’m glad that wasn’t the case.
You are one of the posters here for whom I have the highest regard, and like I’ve said before, hearing from you is like a breath of fresh air. I’m always happy to hear from you, but I won’t concern myself in the future if I don’t hear back from you regarding one of my posts.
Regarding the country you visited, it sounds like a country where indeed things may be better than here. Still, I wonder if our population could ever function fairly and productively under such a system, given its fractious and fragmented nature…and I would point out that the U.S. would still be very much in the vanguard of the world’s countries in striving to eliminate the injustices you mentioned.
In closing, let me say I’ve seen enough about your lifestyle from comments you’ve made in other threads to know that your interests are many and that your life is very full, so it doesn’t surprise me to hear that you might have trouble keeping track of everything you have going on. But your life sounds wonderful to me, and I imagine there are hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of people in this country who would love to live the full, interesting and multi-faceted life you live.
Peace (and happiness) to you as well, my friend. Thanks again for your post.
Ok, so I see there is a resistance in Iraq not linked with the terrorist motherfuckers who we all hate, but has that stopped them from trying to distance themselves from this? Answer that, and you’ll know why not many take sympathy for a resistance by ordinary Iraqis. They had their chance to show a legitimate cause for their people and decided on just random and mindless violence to try and kick America out, it isn’t working, so the cowards are now trying to murder as many of their own countrymen to disillusion them further. Good tactics from a military perspective, but they are in danger of giving their enemy (us) better propaganda against them.
What? Yes, they probably should have issued a press release  . Twat.
If the first part of that sentence means anything, I don’t know what it is. And I’m not sure why you think the violence is random or mindless. Is it even logically possible to decide on mindless violence?
Not sure why you think they’re cowards, but a couple of sentences ago you said you understood the difference between the insurgency against the US occupation and attacks on Iraqi civilians. Did you forget?
Pile of steaming crap.
Yes they should of, since their ‘allies’ seem to contact the outside world with their messages of hate and fear so easily, one wonders why the ‘resistance’ has no collective manifesto on ruling the country, on gaining support, gaining credibility other than mindless violence, shit, even the NVA in Vietnam had some sort of good objective, in Iraq its just wanted destruction of everything. And no I am not in the same league as pregnant fish, ridiculous one.
Yes large parts of the violence is mindless, it lacks any strategic and tactical goal, other than to just satisfy their homicial tendencies and murderous intentions.
Who says the resistance doesn’t attack Iraqis?
Oh really? Tell me who thinks that mass executions of Iraqi police, military, election workers, political candidates, ordinary civilians in the cities, who get shot, bombed, executed, shelled, and beheaded, is in anyway a propaganda coup? They might gain a reputation out of fear, but regarding them as liberators or somesort of understandable enemy which wants modest gains for the benefit of most Iraqis is…rubbish.
Really Ryan you do a better job of contradicting yourself than I could do, so I’m not really going to bother. Thanks though.
No problem. Nice to know you can’t back it up. Moron.
When exactly did they have this chance you speak of? Was it during the ‘shock and awe’ bombing that indescriminately killed thousands of innocent civilians? After the USA installed its puppet government headed by criminals? While being tortured? After the slaughter in Fallujah?
Do you think that because Aldebaran is gone you now have open season for hate-filled, racist posts against Iraqis? Do you actually believe all the government propaganda about what’s going on in Iraq? If you do you belong to a minority of people here in the UK.

Zoe Do you mind to send me a mail, yours is disabled.
Could you please share with us the name of this country you’ve seen?
Ryan for the purposes of this discussion, who gives a fuck how much popular support the insurgents have and who gives a fuck about their propoganda work.
The_Raven, umm lame buddy, real lame.
