Halfway thru the year in the MMP

Hawt as all get out. Nothing much to report. Trying to figure out what I shall eat tonight and considering going to the store as I am out of milk. There is a Publix four minutes from my house. That will involve having to get dressed though. Woe is me. Maybe I don’t need milk after all.

We mulched all the beds except the one with bulbs. I have several sprouting and am waiting until they are a little bigger so I don’t cover them up. I would think the flowers could make their way out of the mulch but I was told no by gardening Queen future DIL.

Pretty kitty JtC.

Good luck on job Shoe

Evening all. Inertia got the better of me and I never made it back to the gym, so will try again tomorrow to get my swimmin’ in. No Sallit bag in the refrigerator, so it was Fettuchini for dinner. Still nearly 90F outside, but rain is expected tomorrow evening so maybe that will cool us down.

Red, like you and JtC and oopsie, was raised Cat-lick, so got a Confirmation name; it was pretty easy, I took my brother’s middle name (James) and he got mine later (John). Not a chicken salad fan, but we have one of those Chicken Salad Chick places near me and it seems to be always busy.

shoe, hey, I’m the one sitting in the (^&^ heat room, I’ll call it what I want!    Maybe I’ll used parboiled next time…

So on with the evening internettin’ and still have several puzzles to solve, so all y’all have a good night.

Up from naptime. I actually had rain while I slept, along with a little thunder. Dinner is catfish stew with Old Bay and cayanne.

He almost looks like “What if we made a cat out of the loose hair in the vacuum”.

I forgot my Confirmation name. But I think the priest was like this when he got to me:

And you’re probably overdressed for Wally World.

Nitpick: it’s only sous vide if he was vacuum sealed in a cooking bag first. And yes, I do watch 20 hours of Food Network a week. :salt: :butter: :jar: :hocho:

We’ve replaced their cat with loose hair from a vacuum, and replaced their coffee with Folger crystals. Let’s see if they notice!

Ah yes, July 2nd was the day that’s in the middle of a 365-day year.
Half a year passed, and I feel like I haven’t gotten enough done.
Well, back to work.

Hi, Emily! So good to see you’re back in these parts! How’ve you been?

I bought a few items of clothing today. I hate clothes shopping. Every fitting room has bad lighting, and I swear the mirrors add pounds and subtract inches. I felt bad for the woman in the next room. She was trying to fit into a size 16 (Dreams die hard.), and she got stuck and couldn’t get out.Oh, the weeping, wailing, and gnashing of teeth! Her friend, also trying on clothes, had to go help her. To add insult to injury, her friend was skinny and loved everything she tried on. Life is not fair.

Another ACOCE here. (Adult Child of Catholic Education, as a fellow Catholic calls it( My chosen confirmation name was Angela, but Mom made me take my aunt’s name, Jane, instead. Not that “Angela” was so great. But my daughter couldn’t decide, so her confirmation name is the same as her first name. I couldn’t decide on a middle name when I had her, so she’s got two of them. The last thing she needed was another name.

Hey you went to my church! Did kids scope out which priest was in which confessional so you could void the one who always gave an entire rosary for penance, no matters r how little you’d sinned?

I laughed way too hard at this .

WHAT!!! You do NOT mess with my coffee! Sacrilege!!!

Next time I’ll leave all the bits of cardboard in his tail (he likes to tear up his cardboard scratcher and then lay roll in the shards), you’ll really see what a vacuum hair cat looks like

{ curtsey }

I aim to please.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. Will it be FUBAR? Will I finally get to do overgoods? Who are “they”? Film at 11!

:rofl:100

Thanks for stopping in, MG!

LOL

Hoo-boy! They said it would rain, and it’s coming down like crazy! The TV weather guesser predicted something over 3 anna half inches in our area, and he could well be right. Definitely soggy out there.Working on the boat should prove to be, um, interesting…

I did a load of unders yesterday and got them into the dryer before I left to pick up Roxy. I remembered my dryer load round about 9 last night - not a huge deal - I was watching TV and pairing socks before bed. That’s what passes for Firday night excitement hereabouts!

Daughter decided last night to try out Tobias in his crib in Roxy’s room since he’s pretty much sleeping thru the night. Until now, he’s been in the pack-n-play in their bedroom. Poor little guy - two major sleeping arrangements changed in one week! Altho the one here is totally successful - he’s napped twice on the guest bed in the middle of a pillow fort. I can let him sleep there till he’s too mobile, then he’ll move to the pack-n-play, or I’ll have to build a stronger fort. We shall see.

I moved the raggedy old cat tree from the window in this room to the foyer in the living room. The cats hadn’t been using it here and it was in the way when I wanted to vacuum. As soon as I moved it, Taz went to check in out - it’s right next to a window, so maybe he’ll use it more. If they don’t use it, I’ll take it apart and trash it. It really is raggedy.

And so the drippy day begins. Happy Saturday!!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 73 Amurrkin out and mostly clear with a predicted high of 93 with rain/tstorms/apocalypse predicted for later today and into tomorrow. We shall see. We will hopefully get in some quality cee-mint pond time this mornin’/early afternoon. The usual sloth, nappage, and general overall uselessness will occupy time as well. Sup shall be burgers 'n fixin’s with fries, which will require actual productivity.

MG glad you stopped by to say hello. Come back and play some more.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah,

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

I cannot tell you how jealous I am. We’ve been over 100 degrees for days and for the foreseeable future here in lovely central Tex ass and I don’t remember the last rain. I expect to see our landscaping bursting into flames any minute. Enjoy your rain, dammit.

I’d enjoy it more if I didn’t have to go out into it today… and I’d gladly send you some if I could!

Morning all. Like FCM, woke up to rain, perhaps not in the quantities she’s getting but it will stick around for a couple hours and the yard can use it. Nothing on the agenda so maybe I’ll try to swimming at the gym again, we’ll see.

I second this. Always nice to see you around the MMP.

Heck with kids, the adults watched to see which priest went to which confessional; you could often tell by the way the lines moved.

OK, need to Instant Breakfast and be about the day. All y’all take care.

:waves: Hi emily!

I, like Moooooom, woke up to rain. It stormed before I went to bed last night (one thunder boom was particularly loud), but this morning’s rain is just a gentle one.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and finishing up the reconciliation of the spreadsheet / picture file today. That will allow me to actually get back to the fun stuff. This afternoon, I need to go into the 'Boro for some coffee beans and stop at UGO for some chicken leg quarters and bacon that are on a really good sale.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Regarding middle names and Confirmation names - yes, I was confirmed and took Elizabeth as my new name, which I used as my middle name for years. I recall at one point, I had to submit a statement to someone stating it was my Confirmation name and I’d used it as my middle name ever since - maybe my first passport?? Anyway, once I married, I stopped using it and substituted my maiden name for my middle name because I thought that’s how it was done - that’s what my mom did. And that’s who I’ve been for nearly 39 years now.

Critter fountain clean. Cat box cleaned and basement stairs swept (how do they get litter all the way down the steps?? Dishwasher semi-loaded and I ran a rinse cycle. Also showered and dressed. FCD is taking the trash/recycling since there’s a slight pause in the rain. We’re under flash flood watch till 10:30 - so glad we live on a high spot in the neighborhood and the county.

I guess next, we’ll head to the boat. I guess.

Happy Saturday! I woke up stupid early again. It occurs to me that this started happening after the doc put me on Singulair to help with the itching. Since the shot seemed to help, I’m going tp try doing without it. If I need to go back on it, I’ll take it in the morning instead of at night, as I have been, though I don’t think it’s been that effective.

I shall take the babushka cart and trudge to the store today for provisions prior to cooking tomorrow for sonny boy’s lunch-time visit on Monday. I have to remember to do a Covid test tomorrow. Though vaxxed, he’s at such high risk, we both test before seeing each other.

My mom did this, too, though she usually used just the initial. Like you, she had no middle name (nor did her sisters or mother–maybe not a thing in Italy back then?) and used her confirmation name (Frances) fas her middle name before then. .

shoe, have the 'rents left yet?

JtC, GG looks like such a pettable cat. He’s so long! 100% Maine Coon, 10% Gumby.

Good morning everyone.

It’s currently 52 degrees and sunny. It’s supposed to cloud up a little and the expected high is only 73. Summer is getting a very late start around here.

I was baptized Catholic but never went through confirmation, as my parents divorced around the time that happened and my mother just never got around to it. So, I only have my three given names; my middle name is the same middle name as my mother and her mother, and I think, my great Oma too.

Well, the trip over to Wenatchee was frenetic. I left here on Thursday morning and arrived there around 1:00 in the afternoon. The drive over the passes was beautiful and relatively easy. There were a couple of folks who wouldn’t move out of the way on Blewett Pass, and I managed to eventually get past most of them. In our state, it’s illegal to hold up more than five cars and you are to use pull-outs to let people pass. One bozo decided that didn’t apply to her and was going 10 miles under the limit. Unfortunately, I was stuck behind her and several other cars until I got out onto highway 2 where I was finally able to pass the nitwit.

Anyway, got to the office, realized I had left my power cord for my laptop at home and was frantically searching stores for one. One of the people who actually works in that office happened to be in AND, thankfully, had the same kind of power source I needed. He graciously allowed me to use it on Thursday and Friday until I left. After that, all hell broke lose with regard to getting funding reallocations, requisitions, and funding documents into the system and approved by all parties. But, I managed to get that all done, while still replying to emails and doing other things. so that’s a win. I left that office and checked into my hotel. It’s right on the Wenatchee River and there’s a nice footpath along there, so I took a good walk and then came back to the hotel for some dinner and a cocktail. I was back in my room by 7:30 and drifted off to sleep around 8:00. I woke up at 10:30, and then went back to sleep until 3:30. I showered, fixed myself up, made some coffee and logged into my computer. I went downstairs to get some eggs and fruit, and then packed my stuff up and headed to the office.

The rep from the moving company showed up yesterday and I have a bad, bad feeling the price will go up for our move. I can’t really exceed a certain amount, but he was pretty concerned about what he saw. And, of course, the folks who work in that office didn’t have stuff packed up which made things look a hundred times worse. I was pissed when I saw the mess. I’ve been telling them to pack since February! FEBRUARY! They’ve mainly managed to only pack their personal office stuff and not even all of that! There will be a come to Jesus meeting with everyone next week. They have one week to get EVERYTHING packed because the movers are arriving on the 18th. I am NOT helping them. I have an actual job to do too and I’m not cleaning that particular situation up.

After I took the mover through soon to be old location, I drove him over to the new location. The building is essentially empty so things should be very easy on that end.

I drove him back to the old location, took stickers upstairs that the mover wants us to use for designating what is moved, recycled, or disposed of, and then hit the road. Once again, the drive through the passes was pretty, so that was nice. I got home around 4:30 yesterday.

I get to make the trip all over again on Wednesday/Thursday for the punchlist inspection and I guess I will need to stop by the old location to whip them into shape if I don’t see movement. For this reason, I’m thinking I will need to drive over on Wednesday. I shouldn’t need to be riding herd on these people.

I think today I will dink around in my yard. It will depend on the weather. But, I’m thinking digging in the dirt and putting some life in the ground will burn up some of my irritation at this whole move.

As I wasn’t raised Catholic (or any religion at all, for that matter), I have no confirmation name.
My Brothers and I were given first names that Mom liked; nothing more meaningful than that. Our middle names are the first names of our father, grandfather, and an uncle, respectively (I got Grandpa’s name, and I like it).

My nieces have given all three of their kids the same middle name, which is their (my nieces’) original last name. Did I explain that clearly? Say they grew up as a Smith and married a Jones; their son is named John Smith Jones. No hyphen, no other middle name. I’m not sure if this is a current trend or not.

I guess work was the source of my random grumpiness, because I feel better today.

I have bugged my property manager off and on for years to do something about the patio, which has been broken up since I moved here (in 2014) and has only gotten worse over time, and the front step, which is significantly un-level and also leaves a really big step up into the house (it seems the front steps have sunk a bit). Now, in addition to that stuff the back steps are starting to crumble and one of the foundation vents came completely off and I couldn’t figure out how to put it back. I last mentioned the concrete in mid-May (with a follow-up in mid-June), and sent an email about the foundation vent in mid-June. His brother tends to oversee the actual property maintenance, and he finally came out yesterday morning! He had a guy with him to provide an estimate on the concrete work, and he boarded up the open foundation hole until he can decide what to do about the vent. There’s no guarantee anything will actually be done with the patio or steps, but at least those wheels are in motion. And now that I don’t have to worry about a critter getting trapped under the house – or any water possibly getting in – I don’t care how long the foundation vent stuff takes. While he was here he also took a look at the furnace (in the attic) and the a/c unit, and we had a good talk about the house. He’s a nice guy, and he loves me as a tenant: in addition to my rent never being late I do as much stuff on my own as I can, I take good care of the property, and I’m willing to spend my own money on things like landscaping and putting in a fence, and he has admitted that makes me kind of a unicorn.

After work yesterday I ran out to the grocery store for a few things: mostly I needed toilet paper and Gatorade Zero, but I also wanted more fruit and frozen burritos. While I was in the fruit section I had a moment of weakness and got more sesame sticks (but plain ones this time, not honey roasted), and while I was in the burrito aisle I passed the frozen pizzas and decided it was finally time to try a Quest (lower carb/sugar) pizza. They’re 11 oz each and 1 serving is half a pizza, which is right where I am now in terms of meal size. I bought two, one cheese and one pepperoni, and made the cheese one last night. My first pizza since surgery! It was surprisingly edible, but I wound up feeling a little sick about an hour later; I think maybe the full serving was too much. I had cut the pie into fourths, and will try having just one of them for lunch or dinner today. It might be something I just need to revisit in a few more months, but I’m hoping the smaller serving will work because it would be great to be able to have pizza in the rotation again. (And it was nice to be able to break out my fancy pizza cutter and cutting board: I wasn’t sure when/if I’d ever be able to use them again!)

The weather is bleh: overcast and drizzly after a night of rain, and kind of humid despite not being very hot (it’s almost noon and only 71, with a forecasted high of 77). More rain is expected through the afternoon and evening. Basically, it’s another excellent day to stay inside with the doggy and do as little as possible.

That was my mother’s first name. Her middle name was “Ann,” and I took “Anne” as my Confirmation name. The different spelling was deliberate: I was 13, so I wanted to honor her but not too much…heh.

The little card I got that listed the gifts bestowed by the Holy Spirit at Confirmation included “grace”: from that day on, I had a running joke with my mom that I was still waiting for that one… (and I still am!)

Sounds like they need an on-site site manager! How annoying for you. Professionally, few things try my patience more than situations like that.

My best friends did something similar to their son 21 years ago: his full legal name is First Name, Middle Name, Mom’s Maiden Name, (Dad’s) Last Name.
