Afternoon, mumpers! It’s 24c/75f out there and allegedly cloudy, which explains the amount of blue sky and sun, right? Weather app says “There’s a fucking orgy of clouds in the sky” which may be good or bad, depending on your perspective.
Nut the cold isn’t too bad, it’s a nasty head cold but hasn’t turned into covid yet so I’m ok with that. I had one day off work with it, just couldn’t get motivated and my head was so stuffy, it wasn’t worth trying. Must be getting better now though.
swampy it’s getting quite interesting over here with the recent political news, but you don’t have to worry as there are plenty of other people who deserve some descriptive names. My current favourite is Jacob Rees-Mogg (aka Viceroy of India) who is married to Helena Anne Beatrix Wentworth Fitzwilliam de Chair…oh, the things you could do with that. It is, as my mum would have said, a name to conjure with!
Then there are his children…Peter Theodore Alphege, Mary Anne Charlotte Emma (think she came off best!), Thomas Wentworth Somerset Dunstan, Anselm Charles Fitzwilliam, Alfred Wulfric Leyson Pius, and Sixtus Dominic Boniface Christopher. Well, where to start, right?
I hope that Ripple starts feeling like himself again soon sari. Makes you wish they could tell you what’s wrong.
nellie, I’m with you on your memorial being dogs included. I may have to specify that for my own.
Moooooom, I’m climbing into the handbasket now for giggling about RoxStar’s F-bombs. I know that it can be an issue. When my great niece and nephew were about her age and beginning to repeat vulgar language, I would ask them to define the word or phrase, then use it in a sentence. Generally the thought process behind that (or the embarrassment) curbed the usage.
Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, a load of towels ready for the dryer and a trip to the dog park (before it gets too hot) made. One of the things I’ve found taking Nelson to the dog park in the mornings during hot weather, is that a lot of retirees hang out there early in the day. Some of their dogs are energetic and some of them are old pups who just enjoy wandering around smelling things and being off leash.
Good grief, BooFae! Are children named so as not to offend any relative, however distant? Or is a long name a sign of status? Or are people just bat-crap crazy?
Maybe I’m envious - my parents didin’t give any of us middle names. Maybe they couldn’t afford longer monograms? Not that we ever had anything monogrammed, but still…
Nap time, so I have some quiet. With luck, it’ll stretch for a couple of hours. SIL said Tobias didn’t sleep much last night. Time for some tablet games!
With him, I’d go straight for bat-crap crazy! The family are staunch Catholics and monarchists, he’s the son of a Baron which explains a lot. I think the crazy names are to keep both family and church happy!
It was a cloudy and muggy 72 degrees at the park this morning. It rained a little, but not enough to deter Barky and Humpy.
Much drama, in my head at least, because I kept my mouth shut.
I was pretty pissed by the time I left.
I was grumpy anyway because my son didn’t get out early and it was cutting into my park time.
He wanted to stop at McD’s on the way home and I told him no, but I’d bring something on the way home from the park.
Priorities.
Lucy dad always goes on the small side when Barky and Humpy come. He got so tired of Barky getting in Echo’s face that he got Echo and took her to the small dog side. Echo adores Lucy dad, so she was happy to go with him.
Ripple is not quite his normal self, but he is a lot better than he was.
Poor Lily pulled a Lily because she didn’t want to leave. She would stay just out of reach of her mom, lay down and refuse to move, watched her mom leave without her, not a care in the world. She didn’t even care when her mom gave treats to Echo through the fence.
Nope, she was not leaving. Until Barky and Humpy were getting treats too.
Good luck with the job Shoe. I hope it all works out.
I hope the itching goes away totally Nellie.
Before I started school, my mother had to teach me that they are flies, not damnflies.
My poor sister used to spell S H I T instead of saying it. Only she thought shit was spelled H I T. So, she’d walk around saying Oh! H I T! She was furious when she learned the truth in 1st grade.
Sorry about Kobe, Red
The Lawn guy was here early. Good thing as we are supposed to be getting a mess of rain and the back yard was already looking like a jungle.
I keep thinking today is Saturday and it is messing with my mind. I’d like to take a nap, but I have to go to irk soon.
Went for my initial visit with the new neurologist. I haven’t had an MRI in four years, so he’ll get one scheduled to see if there is any change in the aneurysms. Since I’m a non-smoker and my BP is controlled, it should be fine.
Of course Captain Quegg has us run the belt till it fails. Because not getting the work through the machine gets things done quicker? Also, people randomly leaving boxes, and whole carts of crap and running off. Now I understand why all the senior clerk drop F-bobs like the RoxStar.
Are any of those names pronounced “throatwabler Mangrove”?
My proof of renter’s insurance is due, and I’m having trouble accessing it on the website. Last year, I got a hard copy in the mail from my insurer, but I didn’t get one this year. Don’t you love it when simple tasks turn out to be complicated?
BooFae, how are those kids ever going to fit their names in those little boxes on standardized tests? Their parents must be trying to one-up the royal family, where the names are many but not so fancy. Take that, Charles, with your William Arthur Philip Louis Mountbatten Windsor!
shoe, fingers are crossed, but as others say, they’d be nuts not to hire you.
Sari, I like the way Lily sticks to her guns. I’m sure I’d be frustrated if I were her human, though. Glad Ripple is doing better.
Yep! Lately I haven’t been walking as much, so I have more to burn off at the gym. I do an hour at 3.5-3.6 mph with a 15 degree incline. That’s as long as the treadmills let you go, so I reset and do another 15 minutes or so. I couldn’t do all the bicycling you do, and I definitely couldn’t swim nearly as much. You’re a champ.
It’s taken a while, but he’s finally learning that he can have more than two speeds. His adult coat is starting to come in but he still doesn’t look much like a Maine Coon yet.
Middle names give too much away. Anyone want to make a snap judgement as to in which religion a Mary Katherine was raised?
Good that he’s feeling better, is the weather getting to him, maybe?
Hubs is still glued to his computer and I haven’t really heard any complaining about bugs which is pretty amazing for a game in beta testing. I tried streaming the news on my new computer and the video was just as bad as everyone said it would be, so I got up and walked all the way to the living room so I could watch it on our big screen TV instead.
I’m on the permanent early voter list, so I got my ballot yesterday. There are some issues I didn’t know were going to be on there, so I’ve got some research to do. I’ve always liked being able to vote at home because it lets me take my time and do the necessary research.
Afternoon all. Went to the gym to go swimmin’, but all the lanes were full (there are only 4 of them) and the whirlpool was busted, so I saute’d myself in the sauna and came on home. May try again this evening. Did get a good shower and wash out of it.
Sari, glad the drama at the park wasn’t too bad, and Lily sounds like a character.
So onward to the Sudoku and Jumbles. All y’all take care.
I worked for a company that I now send data to. It’s time for me to receive the quarterly revenue report and another report. The person I would contact (for this among other things) retired in December, and it’s been a PITA finding someone to contact. (Oh, I worked with this person when I was at the other place.) So I finally got a contact name and a department email address for the person who sends the other report. I got that one. The revenue report came directly from the person who retired. It turns out her replacement is someone I was friends with at the other company. She’s also a Facebook friend. So there’s one.
The other thing is they sent a question about a file’s format. They’d forwarded an internal email, and that was from someone I used to have lunch with every day. (I thought she retired.)
I’ve read everything but have been unusually/unreasonably grumpy and easily irritated for the past few days, so I haven’t really been up to posting. I’m just popping in now because I saw the following on Facebook this morning and it made me think of a few Mumpers…
(While I’m here: I was given a middle name and raised Catholic, so including my Confirmation name I have four names.)
Howdy Y’all! A very lazy (quelle surprise!) day here. We got in some quality cee-mint pond time before it got cloudy, accomplished nappage, and general overall uselessness. Sup got cooked and et and the kitchen cleanded up. It’s rainin’ as I post and looks like it will be with us for a while. Yay for that.
Sari glad Ripple is doin’ better. I like Lily’s style!
JtC looks like GG has sloth down to an art. I believe he could give lessons.
Mooooooom, no middle name? That surprises me for someone raised RC.
oopsie, I have the same type name setup as you. My confirmation name is Patricia, same as all of my sisters. The brothers chose / were pressured into Patrick for theirs. Patrick was teh family patron on the Catholic side, can you guess?
Got the Friday chores done, shopped for groceries and re-replaced the batteries in the key fobs. The ones that I bought a couple of weeks ago worked, but I was still getting the low key battery message every time that I shut the car off, no matter which one that I used. I got no such message with this set. While I was at Aldi, I bought some Heart to Tail frozen dog treats for Nelson. He likes Frosty Paws and he likes these at just a bit over half the price. Mmmmmmmm…bacon cheese ice cream.
Chicken Salad Chick fixed supper. The cranberry pecan chicken salad, spicy pimento cheese and tomato bisque were just right for a summer supper.
Yum nua (Thai beef salad), and a can of Shabby Tabby IPA. I asked for 5-star on the salad. Either they goofed, or else they gave me ‘farang five’. I didn’t even break a glisten, let alone a sweat. But it tasted good.
