Hamburgers Or Cheeseburger?

Given a choice, cheese will never get within a mile of any burger of mine. Can’t stand the stuff on a good, or even a not-so-good burger. My wife loves the cheese however. Makes telling our order apart very easy.

I usually put sharp Cheddar on my burgers, but I just picked up some Havarti, so I’ll try that in a moment.

This is my go-to example of the cheese overwhelming the taste of the beef. In the MTCicero household, blue cheese is verboten on burgers and steaks. If I want blue cheese in something, I’ll put it on a grilled cheese sandwich or in a salad.

To further elaborate my ambivalence toward cheese on burgers: If you’re gonna do it, pick a relatively mild cheese that won’t distract from the flavor of the beef. But if you do add a mild cheese, then you’re really only adding it for texture or mouth feel, bringing “gooeyness” or creaminess to the burger. And I maintain that a perfectly cooked, juicy burger is already sinfully delectable enough, and needs neither goo nor cream. But that’s just me.

As much as I can be a purist as to the general hamburger recipe, I do prefer cheeseburgers in most circumstances. Especially if it’s just a touch of blue cheese. Not enough to overpower the burger, but enough to amp up the beefiness of it.

For those of us who keep some sort of kosher, of course, it’s not really a question. Although one could have a no-meat, no-dairy cheeseburger, I suppose, everything made from soy… but why?

Cheeseburgers make me sick for some reason–unless it’s bleu cheese! THAT is manna from heaven. So to speak.

Or someone with a lactose intolerance.

Thankfully, I’m not one of them. I love me some cheese.

Bah! Bah, I say.

(Vegetarian, expatriate Wisconsinite who loves cheese - I don’t it’s legal for Wisconsinites to go vegan. )

I voted “Cheeseburger only,” but I wouldn’t actually turn down a naked burger, and I might even order one if the cheese cost, I don’t know, a dollar or more, but under most circumstances I’ll pick a cheeseburger every time.

Cheeburger, cheeburger, cheeburger…

No Coke. Pepsi.

It depends on my options for cheese. If my only option is crappy American oil cheese, no thanks. But if someone has some slices of Sharp Cheddar or Pepperjack or something, then yes, please!

Soy cheese is an affront to all that’s good and holy on earth and in heaven. G-d does not want his children to suffer soy cheese. That’s why he allowed someone to invent the Boca Burger.

How’s this for weird? I don’t like cheese in or on anything other than hamburgers, and I absolutely won’t eat a hamburger without cheese.

I vote Cheeseburgers.

If we ever met in person you’d be able to hear me say it. Cheese is a perfectly good way to ruin a perfectly good hamburger. It’s very rare that I’ll put cheese on a burger I fix for myself or order a cheeseburger when I’m eating out.

I hate cheeseburgers and have never ever ordered one. If, say, I go through the drive thru and they put cheese on it and I don’t realize it until I get home, I will either take it back or just not eat it.

[Cleveland Brown]That’s just nasty.[/CB]

Burger King: Cheese Whopper w/heavy mayo only

McDonald’s: Big Mac or Quarter Pounder w/cheese

Wendy’s: Double cheese w/mayo, onion, and tomato

Depends on my mood.

It’s a given though if I order a cheesburger theres going to be bacon on it as well.

Ever since trying burgers grilled your way, I have been using 1/3 spicy Italian sausage to 2/3 good ground chuck. Adding a nice slice of Provolone really makes it better.
