Thanks for greeting me to the SDMB Blonde. I’d also like to thank LinkStarzWing for the compliments as well.
I think two other people that could be added to the list is Matt Damon and Will Smith. Matt Damon’s stunts in Bourne Identity was pretty cool and Will Smith’s goofiness is part of his charm.
IMHO, the best looking film actor working today is Jonathan Rhys-Meyers, although Eve might fairly consider him a “pouty little boy”. Please note that I’m referring to Irish actor Jonathan Rhys-Meyers (Michael Collins, Velvet Goldmine, Bend it Like Beckham), not Welsh actor Jonathan Rhys-Davies (Raiders of the Lost Ark, Victor/Victoria, King Solomon’s Mines). Although I suppose there must be people who find the latter attractive as well.
Ewan McGregor is a doll, but there are better looking actors out there. I think that actually works in McGregor’s favor – he’s handsome, but not too handsome, like a handsome guy you might actually meet in real life instead of a movie star. I think Jude Law has a similar look but is slightly more attractive, although I have my suspicions that McGregor and Law may secretly be the same person.
But speaking personally, just about the only man on earth who’s ever done it for me is Eddie Vedder (especially circa 1992).
Hooooyeah! How many times can I see Bend it Like Beckham while it’s still in theaters? In that movie at least he sort of resembles a skinny Irish Matt Damon, not so much in his other movies though. His photo is the wallpaper on my laptop. Not to mention, he lives on a horse farm in Co. Cork - is there a more perfect man in the world for me?
Still - and mind you, most of the guys I date/am attracted to are younger than me, so this isn’t meant as a knock - but those boyish types like JRM, Brad Pitt, Orlando Bloom (I agree - only as Legolas) don’t quite fit the wordhandsome. Cute, hot, sexy, perhaps, but not handsome. Handsome needs the sort of raffish charm they haven’t earned yet. (Handsome are the sort of guys in whom I see the attraction, but am generally not attracted to.)
My vote for handsome men, in no particular order:
Hugo Weaving
George Clooney
Harrison Ford
Cary Grant
Viggo Mortensen and most of the other Men of Middle-Earth
umm, I’d add a bunch of hockey players but nobody’s probably heard of them - when I get home I’ll try to find some pictures to link to
For younger guys who still manage to pull off the ‘handsome’ designation, Hugh Jackman and Taye Diggs
Hate to be a pain, but why in 10 years? Why not now? I find him incredibly sexy, especially right now. (I’d like to add him to my list, btw). I’d like to know why you’re making him wait 10 years to be added.
I hope the above doesn’t sound argumentative. I’m not being argumentative. Just curious.

I find Alan Rickman strangely atractive.
I guess why I say “strangely” is that my girlfriends 15yo daughter has this obsession with him and I feel strange when I get all tingly when he talks just like she does… :}~<
Because right now he’s just a little too pretty…I think he’ll be more handsome when he’s “seasoned”.
Anyway, a lot of posters went backward in time…saying they like certain men during certain eras…I’m going forward in time. : D
Don’t know how I forgot Denzel Washington. He’s another one of those guys who’s not so attractive you can’t imagine bumping into him on the street… but if you did, you’d swoon. Or at least I would.
For the most part though, my personal taste still runs to the pretty young lads. I suppose I’ll grow out of it eventually.
How has the list gotten this far without mentioning Robert Redford? I think he’s definitely handsome. And I’m definitely in agreement with all mentions of Harrison Ford.
I’ll second the vote for Goran Visnjic, although I was feeling very depressed clicking on the link to discover that I’m older than him! It should be illegal to be that sexy…
Another vote for Omar Sharif as well, circa *Dr. Zhivago * of course. Other celebrities on whom I had absolutely ridiculously HUGE crushes in my debauched youth: Mikhail Baryshnikov, right after he defected (although the things that man can do with his body are still amazing) and Richard Chamberlain, circa the Shogun miniseries (who I only last week found out is gay, which shattered any remaining teenage illusions I had about him).
Maybe it’s more that I have a thing for darkly brooding emotional types…although I’m also sensing a certain predilection for Slavs.
