*My favorite role of his, just for mature good looks, not for the character he played, was his stint as Marcus Licinius Crassus, in Spartacus. Geez, even though I hated the guy I wanted to sleep with him! Am I sick or what?

Classic Dreamy Men:

  1. Cary Grant
  2. Gregory Peck
  3. Sean Connery
  4. Clint Eastwood
  5. Paul Newman
    Current Hotties:
  6. Benicio Del Toro
  7. John Cusack
  8. Hugh Grant
  9. Matthew McConaughey
  10. Jude Law

It’s odd, but the classic hotties are guys (with the exception perhaps of Valentino and James Dean) you don’t particularly care about seeing nekkid, while the current hotties are marketed that way (in fact, most you’ve seen nekkid on screen). I wonder when the dividing line was that good butts and bodies became more important.

Gary Cooper
Paul Newman
Laurence Harvey
James Franciscus
Clint Eastwood

Honorable Mention:
Leslie Howard

Speak for yourself.

Christopher Plummer as Captain Georg von Trapp

Interesting thought, Sampiro. I’m in no way an expert on the history of film, but perhaps that shift took place shortly after film makers started showing more realistic sex scenes.

And you know what? I think the romantic kisses between say, Grace Kelly and Cary Grant were just as steamy as the sex scenes in Basic Instinct. Whatever happened to leaving more to the imagination?
