Happy birthday, Bob, BTW, there's a helicopter in your yard... This week's MMP

Wow, that’s very cool, Bobbio.

I woke up at 4:30 this morning to doggy diahrrea on the stairs and a grumpy husband because he couldn’t find his keys (I found them, btw).

So, there I was at o’dark thirty, on my vacation, cleaning up the doggy mess, having put the offender outside. After that, I tried going back to bed, but I kept waking up, and finally gave trying to sleep.

I came downstairs and let Polar in. Then I tended to some little chores. I went back upstairs to get Brandi out of my son’s room and let her outside, along with Polar again. I stood out there with them, to ensure they pottied. I came back inside to do dishes and the dogs decided this was the perfect time to tussle. One of the just filled water bowls got knocked over and I had water all over the kitchen floor. So, I had to stop with kitchen clean up, sop up and mop the floor…again. I finally finished loading the dishwasher and got to sit down with my first cup of coffee at about 9:30 this morning.

In between all of the above, I had let the dogs in and out several times.

Now, I have to drag out the steam cleaner and steam clean the upstairs hallway and the stairs.

I’m kind of left wondering when I actually get to relax a little on my vacation.

Taters, like I told MOOOOOOM everytime I get to thinkin’ I want a dog, I read a post from her or you about doggy diahrrea and put that thought right out of my haid.

Accordin’ to weather .com, in the past twenty four hours we have had 1.5 inches of precipitation and 0" of snow. No snow in south Jawja in August! It’s a sign of the Apocalypse!

Taters, silly girl, you know it’s impossible to relax on vacation at home… sheesh!

**BBBobbio **- great story - can’t wait to see the pics. When we were going to and from the marina on Saturday, I thought of you. We passed a buncha firefighting equipment along the road near an old house with something spraypainted on the front. I guess it’s pretty standard for VFDs to train by burning down old houses. Unfortunately, we didn’t see any burning either time we passed, but if I drove down the road today, I’d expect to see char where the house stood.

I am not a happy camper. Next Tues and Weds, I’m being forced to go to a meeting in Chantilly. For those unfamiliar with DC traffic and this general area, suffice it to say that it’s a 2-hour trek, assuming no traffic issues. Yeah, right, no traffic… Fortunately, a friend who leave about 30 minutes from there has offered her futon on Tues night, so I may be spared some driving. Also the team lead said that if it turns out I’m not needed there after all, I can split. So there’s that. And I will get about $70 in mileage. But I have to be there at 7:30 and they said expect to work thru lunch and quit at 5. rah. Said properly, it’s the opposite of yay, Hal.

Amish sides with our ham for supper. I can has Firday??

Yeah, intellectually I know that, FCM, but a girl can hope.

Things had finally settled down peacefully, when hubby walked in…at 11:45. Way too early to be home from work.:dubious: Things were slow, so he came home. There went my peace and quiet. I’m now listening with great annoyance to his latest, noisy PC game.

God, just one day of peace and quiet would be so nice…

If your friend hadn’t offered her futon I would have offered my couch: I live 15-20 minutes from Chantilly. Feel free to PM me if things with her fall through (and if you aren’t allergic to/don’t mind dogs*). You’d be welcome to spend Monday night, too, if you think your back could take it.
*BTW: I’m a chick, 38, single, with just one dog. Not a scary internet axe murderer or anything…until I invite Sticks and Scones to stay with me. grin

Misnomer, I do appreciate the offer, and frankly, your offer is more tempting because my friend has a rather flaky spousal unit who I don’t relish spending time around. I’m still hoping I discover on Tuesday that they won’t need me on Weds, but we shall see. What’s really sad is this meeting is to discuss how we came up with our recommendations. For my part, it was just slightly more scientific than “I pulled then out of my nether regions…”

Supper done been et early because we were hungry and I kinda goofed on the timing. No biggie. It just leaves that much more time to chill and knit. Plus there’s ice cream for later.

Pixley VFD setting up the landing zone

The ambulance arrives.

Fire trucks, with copter on approach.

Landing.

Flight crew reaches ambulance.

My butt, as I pull the patient out of the unit.

Patient being loaded into chopper.

Lift-off.

Outbound.

Leftovers consumed. 'Twere good! So tomorrow I shall be a good bear and cook. I’m so nice!

The chopper blades look warped in this photo.

Today was Monday. 10 new people started today. Not new so much, as a consolidation between their old department and one of the other teams in my office. 6 of them occupy seats that used to be occupied by former teammates who have transferred, retired, or just quit. They were not replaced. So we got used to these nice empty desks on which to park our coats, lunchbags, pocketbooks, etc; and the extra drawer space for storing holiday decorations and whatnots.
Plus these new people are very noisy. I’m hoping their manager says something to them about picking up the phone instead of shouting across the aisles.

I killed the mmp!

Home from irk, it’s beer o’clock. Tomorrow I clean up doggie messes.

I hope you don’t start another vicious cyclic of puns.

Great pics, Bobbio.

I wanted a snack. I had a choice between Oreos and an apple. I chose the apple. Go Me!

EEK!!

It’s been a really nice day today. When I finally made it home my grandparents and I decided to go see my aunt and uncle* and our (former?) neighbor (She lived next door until she went into a nursing home. She’s 94, I think.) So, we had lunch at my grandparents’ favorite restaurant and then headed over to do our visiting. It was a good time and hopefully we’ll make it over there again soon. The best part of the visit was when my grandma started telling about some old girlfriend of my uncle’s and how she just carried on.

*They’re actually my great and and uncle, but that’s a mere technicality.

I’m putting my foot down on obscure little helicopter puns, and on this matter I won’t Budgie.

Rib eyes are grilling, butternut squash is ready and grilled onions smell gooooooood.

Other than that a slow Monday. I got to tell someone today that I didn’t want them as a hiring manager at my next interview session I run as they are rude and obnoxious to people. Not as much fun as it sounds.

Is is Friday yet?

Fun birthday Vbob!

I’ve heard that said before. You might say it rings a Bell.

Why is a concrete road so clean? Notar.

Work is manic panic. Between people being out sick or out on vacation, there’s much to be done by few people.

What was the father doing when he swiped his child’s money? Robinson.

Off to bed. I can’t tell if the typos that I’ve fixed a couple dozen of are me being tired or the dodgy keyboard getting worse.

Things like this are why I quit the Rotory club.

If you are ever sitting in your easy chair and hear someone outside playing anything Wagner, I’d just run and ask questions later.

Charlie don’t surf!

Kopek’s tale reminded me that many many moons ago, perhaps 1956, when I was just a wee tad, the Fire Marshal, one of two paid employees in my town’s VFD, burned down the fire house when the fumes from the gasoline :smack: he was using to wash down the equipment floor reached the pilot flame on the gas water heater. The neighboring towns responded and saved the attached City Hall because the fire wall held, but they lost all the apparatus, including their prize antique 1927 Seagraves pumper. The back page of Life magazine featured a picture of the burned out engines sitting in their burned out fire house. We could see the smoke from the school playground and wondered why the air raid siren was going off instead of the fire department’s bee bop horn (kind like a fog horn).
