Happy birthday, Matt. Thanks for bringing into this world the most important philosopher and American icon ever. I’m talking, of course, about Homer Simpson. (Although Phil Fry is a close second- “The Grasshopper and the Octopus” always cracks me up.)

I would have to say Futurama is the most philosophical show of them all:

Fry: It’s just like the story of the grasshopper and the octopus. All year long, the grasshopper kept burying acorns for winter, while the octopus mooched off his girlfriend and watched TV. But then the winter came, and the grasshopper died, and the octopus ate all his acorns and also he got a racecar. Is any of this getting through to you?

God: When you do things right, people won’t be sure you’ve done anything at all.
God : It takes a gentle touch. Like a safecracker, or a pickpocket.
Bender: Or a guy who burns down a bar for the insurance money!
God: Exactly, if you make it look like an electrical thing.

Fry: So, what’s the deal? You guys don’t believe in robot Jesus?
Jewish Robot: We believe he was built and that he was a very well programmed robot but he wasn’t our Messiah.

Fry: I did do the nasty in the past-y.
Nibblonian: Verily! And that past nastification is what shields you from the brains. You are the last hope of the universe.
Fry: So I really am important? How I feel when I’m drunk is correct?
Nibbloninan: Yes, except the Dave Matthews Band doesn’t rock.
