Happy (Lesser)Holidays - A Festive MMP

My condolences Bumba. You spoke of him often. I know he meant a lot to you. It’s so hard to lose a pet.

Sacramental moonshine would make for an interesting service.

I’ll be honest, communion is sounding better and better.

Congratulations!

Was this niece2? I’m glad the dog is ok.

My kids would have trashed it before we cleared the driveway on the carwash. Cheerios everywhere, crayons, legos, cats and dogs living together. Chaos!

That one looks really intriguing. Please put me on the “interested in cruising list”, whomever is keeping that.

Yesterday we picked out a bunch of things like flooring and cabinets. I’m not that happy with most of it, but my husband is, so I guess this is what we’re doing. I did not end up taking my daughter to SF for her play, and I feel awful. She was gracious but disappointed.

I am wondering if my CSF is leaking again. Stupid frail human bodies. :weary:

In any case, it was a long day, so today might be just a recovery day. There are things that I need to do, but they might just have to wait a bit.

Take care everyone.

Honeys, I’m home! Egad, what a journey. I had a wonderful time with my daughter and her hubs and sister-in-law. The bus ride home was a killer but made easier by two guys I met at the Spokane Depot. They were a hoot, and we laughed a lot. I kind of miss them.

The one sour note was that yesterday my hand- and foot-joints hurt when I got up, and they haven’t quit since. This is the first major flare since the doc said I was in remission. I had to use the nuclear option (prednisone+ naproxen), but hopefully it’ll help. I have doctor appointments tomorrow and Thursday, but neither is with the rheumatologist. Go figure.

{{{{Bumba}}}} Such a sweet boy! Damn, I’m sorry.

Sari, I second all Boo said. John T’s information is golden I took notes. When I talked to the state insurance rep, she thought I was an actuary because I knew so much, which was really funny because I’d suck as an actuary. It was all John T. Also, lots of places have Medigap plans, but they aren’t created equal. That’s where the State Health Insurance advisors become a godsend. I hope you find a workable plan without too much hassle.

Boo, sorry about your son. I hope he recovers quickly. What a shame about the proposal. Of course, it’ll be special no matter where it is.

Flyboy, what’s up with the missus dining on popcorn or yogurt these days? Neither seems like enough nutrition.

MetalMouse, I hope that knee is OK. I’m excited to hear all about the journey.

Cookie, glad the house sold so fast and that you’ll have a tidy profit.

wordy, are you looking forward to or dreading going back to the office? I hope you get a cool lunchbox, maybe Spongebob…with a little thermos.

doggio, sorry the blueberry rolled away/

Dishes are washed, and I unclogged the disposal. FCD and I just finished replacing terlit guts - here’s hoping that stops the intermittent water running. I also made the pattern and cut out the fabric for the display cover, only to discover that I screwed up the biggest piece. I’ve got enough fabric to make it work, and I think my fix will actually be a better approach. Still, I’m now ticked, so I’m not going to work on it for a bit. So there! :stuck_out_tongue:

Instead, I ate an orange.

Congratulations on the house sale cookie.

The sinus drainage from allergies had me throwing up a couple of times last, so I stayed home from work today. Tea, toast and benadryl have been the menu today. I am feeling somewhat better now, so I may eat something more substantial for supper. Damn tree orgies,

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

I hope you feel better soon Red. Stoopid tree sex.

Sorry for the misery, red. It sounds awful.

If you ash me, they pine for it.

Thanks, doggio. First family members to get covid so momma Boo worries. He’ll still propose soon I think (minus scenic grandeur)and that will be joyous, she’s a lovely human being and good enough for my baby, which is saying a lot!

I am kind of looking forward to going back, nellie, and I did get a cool lunchbox, though not Sponge Bob sadly - it’s a fancy hydro flask lunch box.

Also, garage guy has yet to show. I called someone else because I’m sick of waiting. Part of me hopes that this is like going to the bathroom at a restaurant while you’re waiting for the food - you wait and wait and wait, then you finally get up to go to the bathroom and when you get back your food is there. But I don’t think I’ll be that lucky. He’s very reasonably priced, but I guess now I know why.

My yard now looks somewhat naked without the nearly dead pine and the other one that was about to crush the house. It makes me sad to get rid of trees, but since my house is more expensive and critical, the house wins.

Go to the grocery store and tell them you lost your cane. They have a big box of canes in their lost and found that nobody came back after, help your self. If you can’t bring yourself to steal a cane from some unknowing old person, call it borrowing and bring it back after your cruise. Leave it hanging on a shopping cart handle, that’s where the store employees found it to start with.

Have a great trip!

Very nice, congrats!

I want that house too. Of course I can’t deal with steps and I get really whiney if I’m in a draft, but other than that I’d love that house!

It seems that real food bothers her stomach, so she ‘doesn’t eat’ during the week so that she can sleep. She’s been eating bananas too.

Today’s walk was not 2.72 miles. It wasn’t two miles. Instead, I walked down the hill to the beach and back up again. Six times. Six times down and up, plus the width of the yard, is a mile; and the hill is a bit of a workout. I’m all schwetty.

So the garage guy made it. BUT, after he sat in my driveway for 25-30 minutes, he left. No call, no nothing - just drove off. I texted him and he said, “Maybe tomorrow. I think one of the guys said he needs help.” What. The. Hell.

I am done with this guy. Thankfully I’ve found someplace I can book online. They’re coming Friday, I assume for real. If this guy shows up again, I’m not sure what I’ll do. He’s already done some work on the door and it was beautifully done, but the savings isn’t worth it at this point.

He obviously doesn’t want your business, if he’s pulling stunts like this. I say find someone who actually can be bothered to earn his pay.

Yeah, I think he’s trying to fire me while not firing me.

Afternoon all. Yard has been mowed and last load of dishes are washing, the knee is doing better when I walk, but if I have to move sideways or hit a patch of ground that is uneven, it lets me know it’s there. Will continue to try and stretch it out and see if I’ll need to take my new cane (sorry Jane, didn’t see your advice in time and doubt that I could pull it off), so my $18.42 Walmart telescoping cane will have to do.

talkie, tend to agree with nettie, maybe he is very good, but if you’re not willing to put up with his being ‘eccentric’, find someone more responsible.

nellie, welcome home to the MMP. Never have taken a long bus journey (unless you count Miami to Key West, which is farther than you think…), glad you had some fun on it.

FCM, dadgummit, now I have something else (the N. Atlantic Odyssey) to add to my Bucket List; may have to plan on living forever…

OK, need to start gathering up stuff for packing; all y’all take care.

have a nice trip…and yeah the pictures ive seen of the Alaska cruise are beautiful…see the glaciers before we don’t have any

metal mouse Have you had knee troubles before? I ask, cuz I’ve had most of them, except needing to get it replaced. Where does it hurt?

nellie Glad the return ride was ok. Making new friends is fun!

Got the new specs today, and the distance scrip is a huuuge upgrade over my old glasses, evidently the ol’ eyeballs have decayed in the last 4 years. The bifocal bit is good too, I’ve already gotten used to the line and the tilting of the head thing, and being able to read stuff is nice. But they’re gonna need to do some fine tuning. These lenses are clearest on something about 8" from my nose, and get fuzzy at about 2 feet. That ain’t gonna work. I already talked to the dude about needing focus on a table saw blade, so he’s ordering new lenses, but he’s going on vacation starting tomorrow.

wordy, your time is likely more valuable than the savings that the budget garage guy would give. You’re making a good call.

Feeling a bit better. Having a nuked sweet potato and a salad for supper. The head is still stuffed up and the nose dripping, but the belly has settled.

Supper was deviled eggs, twice-baked spuds, green beans, and 'mater slices. I need to empty the dishwasher so I can load it again. It never ends…

No more productivity today. Unless I have to.

Howdy Y’all! I kinda overdid it in da yahd this mornin’ and am now all achy and sore. Actually both of us are. Methinks we shall sleep with Ty tonight. Anywho, we got that done and then had N.O.L. at the hog trough GC. Nappage ensued and we have been in serious chill mode.

BooFae here’s hopin’ the eye doctor can make your eye all better soonest.

MetalMouse hope the knee ouchie is better today.

Boo that sucks mightily about your son’s vacation/proposal.

MOOOOOOM the good thing about a hotel room is you can escape all the talky, talky when y’all are ready to do so.

red glad you’re feelin’ better.

MetalMouse be safe and have a fun trip!

Evening all. Napped this afternoon but have done everything on my list except packing, and that will start in about 30 minutes. Want to be in bed before 10pm so that getting up at 5am won’t be that big of a chore. Flying “first class” on American HSV-DFW-SEA, we’ll see what service is like for the hoi polloi. At least my 2 checked bags should be free.

Never had knee problems before, just sitting or lying down there’s no aching, but if I try to straighten it out I get pain and if I step down too heavy I get a stab. Seems that working it helps, so I’ll try to get up and around while flying so it doesn’t stiffen up, but will still take that cane with me, just in case…

VanGo, glad the glasses help, but yeah, if you’re playing with power saws, it needs to be the best you can get.

OK, will try to get on-line a few times while travellin’, but everybody behave themselves now…
