Happy Thanksgiving MMP

Taters! : tacklehug :

In case anyone was wondering, the ribs were YUM!!! I bought them at Aldi’s and they’re especially meaty. And because of the long, slow smoking, the meat was literally falling off the bones. Happy tummies here!

Except for Higgs - she seems to think she should have gotten ribs. Silly puppeh!

Welcome back, Taters!! I’ve missed you!

Aw, thanks. I’ve just been busy with work and life in general.

No excuse for avoiding us. Don’t make me give you demerits!

Is that a disease?

I’m home.

It was … different.

Different as in no bloodshed?

Different as in someone is making new friends every day?

Inquiring minds would love to know!

Different as in someone took the furniture and new people have moved in? Tell us!!!

I’m beat and the OW comes home tomorrow. Will catch up next week.

I just read something cool this evening, in our monthly church newsletter. Shows how times can change I guess.

There’s a monthly small feature introducing a new member, or family, to the congregation. This month it’s two guys, and they aren’t brothers, but spouses. It gives the usual “why they moved here to our city” info, which this time is the usual work related reasons. One guy is a new member with us Episcopalians, his spouse attends Catholic services, but the congregation wasn’t named.

I’m going to have to talk to the new guy here, it mentioned he’s into genealogy and is a member of Sons of the American Revolution. I could be a DAR member if I’d get off of my butt, and I’d like to compare the requirements, the documentation needed, to get into such a group.

Up early, again, of course, altho I did make it past 6AM, so there’s that.

Not a lot planned for today. I’ll bring in FCD’s laundry, and he wants to go to Best Buy for… something. He wanted to go last night but I wasn’t interested so today we’ll go. I did make our $10 gift exchange purchases last night - I love ThinkGeek!! - so that’s taken care of. I think today I’ll pack up the afghans I made for my new-found nephew (OK, he was found last year) and his daughter and get them in the mail this week.

It’s weird getting used to sleeping with someone again - especially someone who uses those long body pillows. I have to really stretch to touch my sweetie’s arm at night. For two weeks, the whole king bed was mine - now I’m back to the narrow sliver I’ve manged to protect from the invasion of the body pillow!

Ah, married life…

Happy Sunday, all!!

Happy Sunday!

It’s dark, supposedly cloudy, and 39 degrees outside.

Alien - no bloodshed yesterday. That would have been the actual Turkey Day, but it was an accident - kind of sort of.
Somehow grandnephew1 (age 12) convinced bf (21?) of stepniece1 to lay in the street so he could jump his bike over him. He made the jump successfully but crashed the landing and scraped up his elbow.
He could have been killed you know? He could have smacked into a car and broke his neck. Why wasn’t anybody watching the kids? The people who got blamed for it? My mother who was cooking and niece2 who was at work. Yep, everybody else is sitting on their asses (except for the ones who were out watching) and the one person who is busy and the one who is not there are the ones who get blamed.
I guess I’m the only one who’s impressed that he pulled it off, and nobody got hurt. This is the kind of stupid shit we did when we were kids, the only difference being is that we would have gotten our asses beat if we did get hurt.

Sunny- pretty much.
I never thought I’d feel sorry for my mother, but I feel sorry for her.
I have never seen her house like this, total fucking mess. You couldn’t sit anywhere without moving a toy or clothes. Couldn’t walk across the bathroom without stepping on clothes. I wanted to clean off the table so we could eat, I picked up some stuff and had no idea where to put it.
I was so disgusted by the way my niece was acting, and her boys (10 and 12) are old enough to help out. Hell, they need their asses kicked. At their age to get out a juice box, drink it, and leave the empty box laying where ever? Like they don’t know what a trash can is? The older boy changed his pants in the living room and left his dirty jeans laying on the floor. My niece brought up a load of clean laundry and dumped it in the middle of the living room floor. And they will lay there, because for some reason expecting the two older boys to fold them and put them away is unreasonable. Sah-son picked them up and put them on the couch, because the dog stumbled on them, thought *BED! * and started pawing at them to make them nice and comfy. We probably should have let him.

So it was six of us for dinner. Me, Sah-son, my mother, my niece, grandnephew1 and grandnephew2. The boys’ father showed up just before dinner to take grandnephew1 out to do something. So grandnephew1 didn’t want to sit down to eat. He hacked away at the turkey with a knife, then just starting pulling off chunks of turkey with his fingers so he could leave. Grandnephew2 also started pulling off chucks of turkey with his fingers. My niece is still putting on her makeup (I’m not exaggerating when I say it takes her about two hours to do this). She finally comes to the table and sits with one foot on her chair, knee up at her chin, and texted the entire time. The only thing she said was to tell grandnephew2 that he needed to eat more than a piece of bread. As soon as she was done eating she rushed back into the bathroom to finish her makeup.

My mother looks so old, and so fragile, and so overwhelmed.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. I’m off today.

blurf

<sobbing> If I had done anything else that day all those years ago, I would be off parole by now rather than waiting to drive to the airport!

Not just today! :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m just about done baking. I made cookie doughs and sausage balls last night, this morning I’ve baked them off for refreshments after church. Glad I’m used to getting up early!

It’s gray and cool here, not too bad though. This afternoon, after deheathenization, I’m going to work on processing the 25-1/2 pound squash my cousin gave me.

BLURF.

I think our formerly favorite cafe had its third strike this morning. The place was close to empty - not even half the tables were taken - and it still took something like 20 minutes to get our omelet and pancakes. And I swear, they don’t bother scraping the grill before making the next order - my omelet had all kinds of stuff stuck on it. So we won’t be going back any time soon. Too bad, because we’ve been going there since it opened, and the last few months it’s really gone downhill…

On the positive side, I’ve finished my chores, including the cleanage of the pet fountain. All that remains today is to bring in laundry. Later.

We’re having turkey for supper - I pulled some out of the freezer to thaw for later. Sides TBD.

So far, except for breakfast, it’s a good day.

Poor little neutered sausages.

Walked into the grocery sto’ that I was walking past yesterday. They had all of the pumpkin baking products on way-big-blowout-clearance sale. Cake mix for 31¢, cookie mix for 50¢, etc. I stocked up! (use by date of 2018, so why not.) Then the cashier decided I didn’t want to use the sto’ card so it came out to $19 instead of $3-sumpin’.
I woulda already baked a cake but I still have almost ½ of a pee-kan pie sitting in the kitchen. I may go back & get some more cookie or bar mix to make something to take into irk.

ruble, who beat you? :DToday’s my lazy day. I may take a ride if it warms up a little more this afternoon, tub other than that, I think studio time is in order.
