Happy Thanksgiving MMP

For the first time in forever, we’re doing Thanksgiving at home. Too political at our usual gathering with my wife’s fundamentalist family. Honey baked ham! Only my son here, will see other kids at Christmas. Looking for a good movie to watch Thursday PM. Also, sweet potato pie, have never tried it before.

My husband was just asking me about sweet potato pie. I’ll have to look up a recipe.

We cheated and had a piece tonight. It was Patty LaBelle’s. I liked it! Like pumpkin but not as sweet or heavy.

Sweet N.O.T. is miles better than pumpkin pie. I lurves me some sweet N.O.T. pie.

seal_cleaner, nickname to come, welcome!

Time to retire to the boudoir. I must arise early for turkey bakeage. Besides, a host must get his beauty rest in order to be gracious to his guests.

I must be crazy. Newish boyfriend and I are hosting t-day dinner here tomorrow for a half dozen bears.

Then on Black Friday it’s back to the tea shop.

Squash Pie

1 cup honey
¼ cup sugar
1 can evaporated milk
4 eggs
3 cups pureed squash
3 Tablespoons flour
½ teaspoon vanilla
1-½ teaspoons cinnamon
1 teaspoon allspice
½ teaspoon ginger

Mix all the ingredients together and pour into a pie crust, Bake at 350F until just barely set in the middle, around fifty minutes.

I’m home, in slob-around-the-house wear, and commencing sloth myself, with nachos and a couple of Redbox discs for company.

Home and got my Thanksgiving dinner/lunch ready to cook. Steak, mushrooms and a light garlic sauce. Hey — you celebrate your way and I’ll celebrate mine.

Cool Gotti Nice to see you back.

The tires got pumped up and the truck passed the emissions test. I was hoping to find a Wendy’s over by the test station. I couldn’t so he got TacoHell again and I got lunch/dinner from Sonic.

Looks like the new battery has fixed my phone. We’ll see.

CatWithNoName got his collar on today and he does NOT like it. I don’t know if I’m going to leave it on him or not. I ordered it when he kept trying to run out the door, but lately he seems to have accepted that he is not allowed out.

I saw a woman make one from canned sweet potatoes and was impressed with the results.

Poor baby!
I wish that I had a disguised police call box (I cannot spell taurus) to rescue you, and go back timey wimey to warn you about the accident. :frowning:

Sounds tasty to me. Care to share the sauce recipe?

I survived work. I’m stating to think the new shift is either insane or on drugs.

TARDIS, sir TARDIS. Get it right, or I shall have to Strax have a word or 2 with you.

****Swampy, I would like to know how you do that. Mine always get watery in the fridge… Well we are here on Anna Maria island. Just waiting on Mom and Daddy.

((((rosie)))

Up, out. Don’t even want breakfast because I’m still stuffed from dinner - pastrami on rye & cheesecake from Carnegie Deli (Rosie understands how much food that is.)

Happy Thanksgiving, all!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to work.

Y’all are making me hungry for turkey and cranberry sauce :stuck_out_tongue: Guess I’ll make do with slathering some cranberry jam on my chicken.

I had a lot to catch up on in this thread - guess that’s what I get for Netflixing instead of Mumping yesterday. I was up till 11, then I woke again at 1:30-ish, then around 4 or 5-ish, and I finally got out of bed at 6. Higgs has been tended to and I’ve had breakfast. I’m caffeinating, thinking about what to do today. The main plan is to bake a couple of punkin pies for my sweetie. Secondary is to do some cleaning - maybe the bathrooms. But mostly, I’ll be vegging in front of Netflix, because I can! I should bathe Higgs, too - good times…

Good to see you again, gotti! You’ve been missed!

**MetalMouse **- glad you made it safely! My one foray thru Illinois on the interstate… in the snow… well, I remember a lot of spun-out cars in the median. I went slowly and had no problems at all! Good times!

**sari **- I’d recommend keeping the collar on the cat - he’ll get used to it, and if he’s anything like Taz, he’ll attempt an escape again… and again… I hope it’s one of those easy-off collars so that kitteh can’t strangle himself. When we let Taz roam freely in the basement, he apparently got his caught a couple of times - we found it dangling. You might also consider having him chipped. Places like Petco and PetSmart often have people who show up and do it for cheap.

And thus beginneth my day. Happy Turkey Day/Happy Thursday!!!
