It seems Simetra is in need of some Happy Thoughts. His sister got kind of banged up in a football game and is in the hospital. We all know how much Sim loves his sis, so he’s understandably distressed.
So Simetra, here’s all my best wishes for your sister’s speedy recovery, and that you hang in there. Just think–you’ll be with Serendipity in a few days, so it can’t be all bad, now can it?

Stephen, sweetheart, you know that you, your parents, and Amber have all of my good thoughts and prayers. Amber’s so strong, dearest, so I know she’ll get through this just fine. Someday, this will be another interesting story to help make her The Favorite Aunt. You have my best thoughts as well. Curiosity: for whom does she play? I have a friend who plays women’s pro football in NY.
Sim’s sister goes to Baylor, but I’m pretty sure she doesn’t actually play for the school. (Softball and soccer, however, are another story. :)) I think she was injured in a recreational game with some friends.
Gotcha. I know those injuries can be serious too. I knew a guy who served in Desert Storm and came through that unscathed. Two months later he was playing softball on the army base and was so badly injured he had to have a kidney removed!!! He’s fine now, but we thought that was the height of, well, I dunno, I guess Alannis Morissette would call it irony.
Best wishes to Sim-Sis. She’s got the third best brother in the whole world (well, I’m sorry, but MY brothers are the best, but he’s real damn close ) and I’m sure she’ll pull through just fine. I’m sending my best get-well vibes.

Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers. I can’t begin to tell you how much they mean to me. Thank you Rasa for always being such a good friend and for thinking of me. Thank you all for keeping my sis in your thoughts.
I just got off the phone with my father. He said that Amber, my sis, is in okay condition at the moment. They managed to do an ateroscopy(sp?) and stopped the internal bleeding that way. She’s still having a bit of trouble breathing because her right lung was collapsed… but it’s getting better. They say there’s only a 90% chance now they’ll have to remove her spleen. So, I guess that’s good news. She’s doing better at least.
They’ve given her a lot of morphine, so she was too drugged up to talk with me… but she told my mom earlier today to tell me that she loved me, and not to worry about her. She’s so tough… I love her for that. She’s just the greatest sister ever… I have no idea what I’d do without her. It sucks that shit like this has to happen to the best people in the world.
Anyway… I’m getting all choked up again… I’m sorry… thank you again all for everything you do. Your compassion never ceases to amaze me.
The only thing is… it’s too bad I’m an Auburn fan. Roll Tide… <pish>. But thanks for giving me a reason to do this anyway ------>
