Happy UnBirthday, Coldfire

Ahh… when I lived in Belgium (Luik/Liege/Luttich), most times I would ask for a beer by name. When I was in Maastricht jsut over the border, I’ll just say I wasn’t there for beer… Ahhh… the Mississippi… (still there?)

But if you are ever willing to do some sort of exchange of beers, I bet there is a way to ship legally.

Man, I miss Juplier. Good thing Interbrew owns Labbatt here so I can still get my Stella and Leffe fix

The Mississipi is still there. I studied in Maastricht, and hop over there frequently to visit friends.

Actually, I know Liege quite well too. Friend of mine used to live there. Amazing city, once you look past the ugly facade you see when passing through to the Autoroute du Soleil.

Small world, eh?

I remember the horrible horrible Amstel… but at least it is better than Maes Pils (spelling bad I know) or Hoegaarden (dishsoap!)

Like I said though… Jupiler was it for me. And Leffe (but I can get that here).

Jupiler - Mannen wettem waarom.

Small world indeed. If you are ever looking to hang with people from all over the world then I suggest Le Pot-Au-Lait in Liege on a Wed afternoon… Exchangees from all over the world that are in Belgium go there. Well at least they did in 94…

… A Dutchman not willing to give 'er one ? How very unusual …Anyway, I don’t want to intrude on this private nagging session so I’ll just wish you a Merry Christmas and the next pints on me. If she lets you out.

ps. Thanks for your continued good work 'roun these parts.

Happy Un-Birthday, Coldfire. I think you’re my favorite moderator.

I’m not sucking up! Really, I’m not!

Well un-fuck all of you!

Canuck: you spelled Maes Pils just fine (as it is I rather like it!), but it’s “Mannen weten waarom”.

I just love how the Belgians stick to archaic slogans.

well it has been 10 years and I did live in the French part… cut me some slack

When a bunch of us come visit you there you can remind me of how good you think Maes Pils is… We won’t trash the place too badly…

Clogboy: If you run on GMT, I wished you a happy birthday a half hour before the end of your day.

Well, now. Thank you for admitting that there is good beer to be had in America.

Since Coldfire recommended Sam Adams, I decided to try some. Just happened to have a few bottles in my refridgerator, in fact.

Sam Adams Boston Stock Ale. Great stuff. Liked it so much, I had another. Musta had five or six by now, I liked it so much.

An’ I take back the whole “clog dancer” thing. Don’t know what I was thinkin’. You is a good guy, Coldie. Can I call you “Coldie,” by the way? Uh, guess I just did, didn’t I?

Hee, hee, hee.

Anyhoo, I hope you and Heloise work out the long-distance thing, and when ya’ll gettin’ married anyway? Oops, none a’ my bidness. Sorry. But yer both so cute, and all.

Aw, boy. Coldfire’s a great guy. Ain’t he everybody? Well, I think he is. There it is pal, this next one’s fer you on whatever damned day this is.

Here’s to ya!

:hic:

:CLUNK:

So, did you recover yet, Exgineer?

Thanks for the congrats, the lot of you. It’s greatly appreciated.

CuriousCanuck, your Dutch is way better than my Canadian! Oh, wait.
Seriously, I wasn’t trashing you, honest. You remember a lot from your period in Liege, especially considering your obvious gravitation towards beer.

About 10 years ago, my grandmother threw an Un-Birthday celebration for the family (I’m only 1 of 3 grandkids). She gave us all presents (I got a musical porcelain harlequin clown, which I still treasure to this day), and there was even a cake that read “Happy Unbirthday”
Damn, that was cool.

Mmm beer.

And I didnt think you were trashing me at all… let’s get trashed and talk about that

For the record, That is pretty much all of the Dutch I remember… the reson I drank so much beer was that I only could remember the number 5 and the word for beer
