I have a I/O Magic portable harddrive that has worked fine until now. When I plug it into my laptop, the laptop wont recognize it in My Computer, and it isn’t recognized in New Hardware. However, when I restart my laptop when it’s plugged in, it shows up in my computer. Any clue on how to fix that?? Any help is much appreciated! I have a dell d630 and im runing xp.

WAG: Maybe XP got told at some point to “take no action” and not ask again, and that’s what it’s doing.
Try this: Connect the drive and reboot so you can see it. Right click on its icon in Explorer and choose Properties. Go to the AutoPlay tab and tell us what you see there.
