I am just posting to let people know that I have no idea what this thread is about. I read the first 10 or so posts and was totally baffled and have to admit that I didn’t really give a shit about the whole thing. So I just skipped ahead to wish all the best and Merry Christmas to anyone who has enough spare energy to care about whatever this thread is about.

I think the Jr. modding aspect of this is pretty lame. But I also think the buckeye thing is a little mean spirited. Opal screwed up and got called on it. We all eventually get our pit thread. Hopefully we learn from that and move on.

You would like to think so, but the person in question bowed out of her original thread still apparently convinced that she was right, and hasn’t bothered to visit the Pit thread.

I can’t believe a common household word is now to be tiptoed around because of ONE Doper’s sensibilities. Get over yourself, Opal, darling. The world(and the Dope) owes you nothing just because you are here.

I never saw the “humor” in the “Hi, Opal” stuff, but I find the “3. Buckeyes” to be quite funny. Too bad we can’t have our joke: Opal’s had more than her 15 minutes of fame.

These are odd comments.

Autolycus, you can’t be that clueless regarding the difference in situations. The jokes against Leaffan were pretty much invisible to anyone not actually reading his one Pit thread. Those who were not reading that thread would never know that “mocking” was even going on. In addition, a few people messed with their locations for a few hours, then put them back the way they had been. Posts taking shots at Opal are specifically targeted at her in a way that will be recognized by most posters and they are going to be around as long as the SDMB.

Beyond that, no one is actually being prohibited from mocking her. There is a multiple page thread in the Pit that is dedicated to that sole purpose and no one has been told to lay off or be nice.

Jali, you are being silly, as well. (Not to mention just making up nonsense.) Opal is not being given special treatment. It has long been the practice of the staff to prohibit stalking and constant harrassment–sometimes even in the Pit and always outside the Pit. In this case, no one has been told to refrain from the “3. buckeyes” nonsense in the Pit and posting it outside the Pit is the sort of thing we have never permitted.
