Those gross things with black buns and all? They look gross-why did you decide to try one?
Not me, but that’s because I don’t like BK so I find myself at one almost never, unless I’m buying my wife a mango smoothie. But that aside, it apparently turns your shit green.
I ate one for the novelty factor. The bun itself tasted OK (like A1 steak sauce), the St Patrick’s Day party in my toilet as a shocker.
I recently had a birthday for my 4-year-old, with a space-themed cake. That thing stained us all blue inside and out. And it was half a sheet, so it went on for days. I have no fear of a black burger bun. Bring it.
Great, now I have to get one. I can’t resist anything new.
Well, somebody must be eating them. I was in a Burger King recently, saw the ad, and asked if they were really that color (just curious; I wasn’t getting a burger anyway). The cashier said that yes they were, but that they were selling out very quickly, and they didn’t have any just then.
I saw Hallowe’en burgers in Japan last year, but I think the bun was coloured with squid ink. I thought about buying one, but I ultimately passed.
The bun tasted like a bun, not like A1, not even a hint.
It did make my poop green, tho.
IDK if squid ink makes your poop turn green, but black jelly beans do that to me too if I eat too many of them. I’m one of the few people (it seems) who likes them - but not in large numbers any more!
The “black” is actually very dark green.
I wasn’t planning to eat one of those black-bunned burgers anyway.
The cheese in the kuro was coloured with squid ink. The buns were done with bamboo charcoal. Which is much more actually black than what they’re using for the Halloween Whoppers.
Finely ground charcoal adsorbs some medications; those could be very dangerous!
The amount you would get from burnt toast, or a charbroiled burger for that matter, would be unlikely to affect this.
Yep! Tasted just fine…and left a surprise in the toilet bowl the next day.
Not the cleverest marketing ploy ever, but not the worst.
There were TWO Halloween burgers in Japan last year: one from BK and one from McDonalds. According to this article, the McDonalds bun was coloured with squid ink:
So these make you poop green?
Cool!
certain blue/purple food dyes do that. I’ve drank purple-colored grape sodas (Faygo) which do the same thing. The “black” bun is colored with FD&C Blue #1 and Red #40 (page 12), so it’s probably the Blue #1 that does it.
Grape Faygo turns your poo green? Huh. I haven’t had that in quite some time, but I do not remember that.
I once made a cake with deep blue frosting. It was paste food coloring, not the teeny bottles of liquid food color. There was some frosting left over and as it was tasty, I kept the half-cup so we could take a bite now and then like it was candy. You can see where this is going, right?.. Brilliant deep blue in the potty, it was a terrible shock for a moment or two until… oh, yeah, the frosting. I warned the rest of the family to maybe expect a surprise.
I absolutely can confirm Grape Faygo = green poop.
It also makes my pee smell nice.
I tried to order one today-they were out of them. curses!
McCormick’s black food coloring is those plus Yellow #5 and phosphoric acid. I made some licorice ice cream a while back; yes, it went in black and came out green.
