I saw it was on sale for 1/2 off, so I figured it couldn’t be a bad expereience. They came REALLY close. I’d say about 95%, if they just would have toned down the caramel a little and boosted the vanilla.
Speaking of new ice creams, anybody try Haageen Daass’ new Pomegranate flavor?
Well, different strokes and all. I didn’t think it was fantastic, but I didn’t dislike it at all. It was acceptable (ringing endorsement, I know). Yeah, some of the tortilla bits were a bit rubbery, but some had just enough crunch to please me.
No, but I have a half gallon of Edy’s Root Beer Float in my freezer.
The first bite was incredible–that’s exactly what a root beer float tastes like.
But eating a bowl of it is kind of a let-down (for me). I think it’s mostly because part of the fun of eating a root beer float is the fun of taking a bite of vanilla ice cream, dipping it in the root beer, sipping the root beer, you know, all that textural stuff, rather than just eating a bowl of ice cream. Although, I do think the root beer float ice cream is just a little bit sweet for me, as well. The first bite is really good, but the rest is too blended or something. Not bad, just not good enough to make me want to buy more of it.
Loved the pomegranite part, thought it could have done without the chocolate chips.
Have you had the hawaiian something honey and cream? wow… i adore it. If I wasnt diabetic and restricted to a tiny scoop when i plan it in I could go through the whole pint!
i am shocked…SHOCKED! i tell you. the chocolate chips were what made it great. i went through the whole pint just last night, when i tried it for the first time. (actually, the pomegranate taste is easily missed, on its own. but it’s an excellent backdrop for the dark chocolate.)
and i’m telling everyone right now – hands off the pineapple-toasted coconut!
it’s MINE, MINE
MINE!!!
last edited because how could i have forgotten that the coconut was toasted?!?!?
I used to like Breyer’s in the 80s, and bought some recently because they always seem to be on sale at the local supermarket. It doesn’t taste like it used to and doesn’t contain the same high-quality ingredients it used to. For example, it now has tara gum which gives it a real funny texture. I’m very much disappointed in what happened to the brand.
These days, it’s about Ben & Jerry’s for me. Personally, I loved the creme brulee flavor, but plain ol’ vanilla is still my favorite. And the Hagen-Dazs French vanilla rocks, too. Breyer’s, in addition to the gumminess, also seems to have a much airier texture, which I don’t like, than these other two.
I’d be willing to give the fried ice cream a shot, though.
