**Jack Dean Tyler **was the greatest troll we ever had. I died a little inside the day he was banned. I know it was necessary, but I still feel like a little piece of me is missing.
He didn’t go insane. He started out that way. But any listing of such luminaries would be incomplete without him.
We had some guy who insisted he could channel ghosts and claimed he had his junk shot off in Vietnam. (SnakeSpirit, I think?)

This is almost word-for-word the post I was thinking of writing - we saw her cycle many times, I think.
It can be very scary to watch someone go through a manic episode or severe depression or something of that nature, but I wouldn’t call that insane.
We had that one chick who claimed to be JFK’s daughter by a secret first marriage. Her “proof” all seemed to come from numerology (like someone’s birthday happened to be the same as the frequency of a radio station she was working at, stuff like that).
What is “insane” nowadays?
Lots of people here have depression, bipolar disorder, alcoholism, Ph.D.'s, and any number of signs of “insanity.”
Kind of leaning towards “They’re coming to take me away, haha!” insane. Looks like there have been a few.

There was a guy here, and I’m pretty sure it was him, maintaining that women really loved it if you sucked super hard on their nipples. Like, give a hickey hard. The women of the SDMB were quick to disabuse him of that notion, not that he listened.
