My feeling is the same as I feel about capital punishment - 100% opposed to state-sanctioned execution. That doesn’t mean I don’t think there are people who deserve it, and I wouldn’t begrudge a victim family member from wishing it. While Trump doesn’t reach this level of deserving-ness, I wouldn’t feel bad if he spent the rest of his days being reminded of his misdeeds locked up and breathing hard, thanks to his own actions.
Sometimes I forget how utterly stupid Trump supporters are.
Trump has personally caused at least a hundred thousand unnecessary deaths by:
Not shutting down the country a week earlier.
Not ramping up PPE production to serve our needs.
By downplaying the severity, so that dipshits like you don’t take it seriously.
By downplaying masks, so dipshits like you don’t wear them.
By promoting fanciful cures and vaccines.
By not having a strong national policy.
By forcing individual states to fight each other for resources.
Those people are dead. By any reasonable measure, Trump doesn’t deserve to die, he deserves to suffer for decades to make up for the life he personally snuffed out, the misery he’s caused, and the joy he robbed people of. If he lives to a hundred and suffers every single second he’ll still get off absurdly easy.
What I’d like to see is for the system to work as it should. The political system should be his ticket out of office. And then I want him to finally know what it feels like to feel the full weight of the legal system - the way any of us would if we did a fraction of the shit he does in a single week.
No. I would have been even happier if he had been removed from office by impeachment. It would have represented a more emphatic rejection of Trump than just voting him out of office would be.
I think I have a little more faith in the American people than you do. The only reason he got in last time was becuase the worst possible opposition candidate was chosen to run against him. I think he’ll be out. His dirty tricks won’t save him, a vaccine won’t save him and as the current European resurgence goes to show, even the most moderate and competent poltical administrations can’t guarantee a low-level of cases so Trump won’t be able to point to any form of eradication.
He’ll get his, I’m sure.
