You’re a shit-tier person who’s response to people wishing that a person causing them suffering would die is to condemn the person suffering, and to claim that you’re better than them because you don’t wish the person would die. The whole philosophy behind that is simply garbage, and your claims of moral superiority actually expose you as a morally bankrupt fraud who tries to prop up their own ego via victim blaming.

And even so, the damage has been done and we don’t yet know the full extent of it. I feel quite certain the person/people responsible will not be held to meaningful account.
Far too many people know the full horror of the alternative and are willing to deal with it to stay in power, and far too many more approve of that full horror and perhaps want even more.
In terms of legal account, who knows? Let’s hope so but if not, just getting kicked out can be humiliation enough. A beaten loser Trump who knows he is beaten would be quite some blow to him. Nixon never served jail time but he did have to be Richard Nixon for the rest of his life. Forever and ever we associate “Nixon” with “Crook”
Really? Think of all the Trumpists who would forever wail that Dear Leader was wrongfully removed by a Congressional Dem cabal, rather than by red-blooded American voters.

The one reason I WOULD have liked removal via impeachment was to shorten the nightmare, and all its attendant real harms, by about one year.

I was thinking about them. It would have been one of the things that would have made me happy to see Trump getting impeached.
The timelime you noted would have been another. If Trump had been impeached back when he should have been (he was guilty of serious crimes after all) we would have had Pence as President this year. Pence is no prize and he would have been a bad President but he would have handled the Covid19 crisis better than Trump did and a lot fewer people would have died.
Trump is raving and his base don’t care. His approval rating is About the same as it’s always been. He is the most dangerous man in the world right now.
You’ll note that they’ve pretty much stopped pretending that they’re not morally bankrupt hypocrites and liars. All they can do now is to use those powers to spread ludicrous claims that liberals and/or Democrats are just as bad.
