No, I did not. I warned him for trolling. That’s the reason that shows up on his profile under infractions and that’s the reason I warned him.

You sure seem to be putting the majority of the weight on the hate speech aspect rather than the “threadshitting” and “(mild) trolling.”
I think it is pretty clear what the driving force between your handing out the warning. Although you neglected to say what is was for (I’m guessing you thought it’d be obvious - and it was.) I think you back pedalled after you realized that using the hate-speech as basis for the warning was way insufficient in this case and you grasped at what you all but admitted were picayune reasons as an after-the-fact justification for a knee-jerk misstep.
YMMV of course but that is how it reads to me.
The reason for handing out the warning was because I thought he was trolling and threadshitting…and the subtle racism only supported my feelings, which is why I mentioned it.
Do you typically warn people for “mild trolling?”
I have before, yes…especially if they have a history of getting warnings already.
If I were told not to use a particular word anymore, and then I sought out quotes that prominently featured said word, I would not expect any sympathy for any warning received.

Nitpicking mod decisions isn’t my favorite sport, and I am unfamiliar with Little_PIg’s posting history, but I still don’t understand how his posts had anything to do with the black population of Mississippi.
The thread in question is about a run-off election in the republican primary, pitting the establishment incumbent (Cochran) against the tea-party insurgent (McDaniel). These are the posts cited by Marley23 when he issued the warning:

Not mystifying at all to me: Anyone who spells f*cking or fuckin’ as “fuck’in” not only deserves a warning but possibly a banning and a goon squad armed with pillowcases filled with doorknobs giving them a stern talking-to. 
So two doorknobs were in an oven.
And the first doorknob turns to the second doorknob and says, “It’s getting pretty hot in here.”
At which point the second doorknob screams, “OMG - a talking doorknob!”

Yes, I did. And I still think he was purposely looking for quotes with the word in it just to needle.
You claimed that he was told not to use a particular word anymore. He wasn’t told that. I don’t see how anyone can know with any reasonable amount of certainty that he was purposely looking for a quote with that word.
I don’t think other users can see the infractions under somebody else’s profile - correct me if I am wrong. All we have to go on is what the mods say. And you said

especially when you mention the hate speech twice, and characterize the main reason for the warning as “mild”.

Calling a woman a “bitch” by the standards of the day is hate speech. Quoting Meredith Brooks’s song “Bitch” is not hate speech. Words need to be taken into context to determine how hateful they are. Claiming I hate beets and wish they’d never grow in any garden of mine is hate speech and contains no coarse language. Context is key.
Claiming that one hates beets is now hate speech? You’ve just rendered the term meaningless.
I think that was his point. The term has been watered down to the point of uselessness.
Nerd = hate speech against trekkies and bookworms
Jock = hate speech against athletes

There was an impasse the second you decided to all smarmy and demonstrate you have no intent to actually discuss the issue. You say things to make the mods angry, so they will respond in anger so you can then nitpick what they say.
It’s a shitty tactic, and it won’t get you what you want. Even if the mods did figure out they were wrong, they have no reason to actually tell you that they did and encourage you treating them in this jerkish manner.
