Have we been taken for a ride?

Does it matter? The statement is so highly qualified, it’s almost meaningless. “Close”; “half”; “nearly”? I’ll bet that every day you drive your car, you come close to nearly being hit at half the intersections you drive through.

Nearly being hit is not hit, and “close to nearly”? that’s like those weaselly stats that try to sound alarming by saying “75% of n do X”-- but n is only 1% of the population.

And then, further, you’re only talking about HALF of n. 75% of 50% of 1%.

Of course, I made those numbers up, but I’m just trying to illustrate a point, which is that that sentence is pretty much words with no content.

Pence might have said he won’t do it now, but of course Trump might do something even more egregious this week. I think in terms of the nation surviving the next 9 days, it’s the 25th rather than impeachment that’s important for quick removal. So it’s important to put as much pressure on Pence as possible; or, if you like, giving him as much political cover as possible if he does decide to pull the trigger.

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot? Roderick_Femm asked if you thought it was a hoax. He did not call it a hoax himself.

I did not say that. I think you are trying to goad me into breaking a rule so that I will be moderated, therefore I will not say any more than that. The statement you wrote which I have quoted is completely and 100% false.

The poster you’re replying to the second quote didn’t call it a hoax, they asked if you thought it was (and indicates that it isn’t any such thing). Neither of the two posters you referred to in the first post said it was a hoax. Saying “you were the one calling it a hoax” is a bit disingenuous at best. Knock it off.

I apologize for any upset I have caused, especially to Roderick_Femm and Velocity whose posts I appear to have misread or misinterpreted at 3 am.

I think I will bow out now and go back to lurking instead of risking causing further upset with my views. I appreciate everyone who took the time to educate me on what is being done, and the reason it is taking so long. I still find it amazing that more cannot be done, but I do understand that apparently it cannot.

A lot of what I’m seeing from you in this thread is a demand for instant gratification. It’s not clear to me that doing things immediately should be our number one goal.

I beg to differ. If they had gotten to them, they would have absolutely killed Pence, Pelosi, Romney, and who knows who else. These were animals going in for the kill. Pelosi in particular would have been drawn and quartered by these assholes.

The House can pass impeachment in the next couple days. But they should delay giving it to the Senate until after Biden’s cabinet is confirmed. This will also allow Schumer to write the rules for the trial since he will then be Majority Leader. Maybe they can’t speed up his removal from office but they can prevent him from running again, they can take away his Secret Service protection, his pension, etc.

Moderating: This is either trolling or an example of abject stupidity. This is an official warning and I am closing the thread.
