They were just messing with you. Actually, the charge was a fine for failing to capitalize the first letter of a sentence. You’re lucky they don’t charge by each sentence where you’ve done that.

I’ve been using Virgin Mobile for 10+ years. I’ve only ever had a couple of problems with them, and they have fixed them pretty quickly. The worst I can really say about them is that they send me a couple of texts and emails like two weeks before they are going to charge me. It gets annoying since they do it 2-3 times every month. Other then that I love the $35 a month for my plan.
So all those times they made a crappy change to their terms of service or raised their fees to “better serve our customers”— they meant you?

I did have a shitty customer service experience* with Virgin once, but the issue was eventually resolved, and you can’t beat $25 a month for data.
*of the too much time on the phone variety, not the charged too much/fraudulently
To continue making this the least satisying pit thread ever, I’ll add that I’m on the same $20 every 3 months plan for my flip phone. My sons are on the $35/mo smart phone plan. We went with Virgin Mobile in the first place because it was all pre-paid so they couldn’t get into any of the horrendous cell phone billing fiascos that I’d see the kids of my friends and co-workers going through.
We’ve been very happy with Virgin Mobile.
I’ve been with them for seven years and I DO have a complaint! (Ok, it’s not a really big one but it is a complaint.) I have the $20 every 90 days plan. Last spring they did some upgrade and it has screwed up my account. A couple days before my payment is due I get a text that they will be adding money to my account. But on the due date, I can’t make calls because I apparently haven’t paid. I call and they get the phone reset. Customer service blames the upgrade for causing the issue. So damn the fucking upgrade that has caused me to have to deal with this shit every fucking 90 goddamn days!
I agree with all of this except duration (we’ve had VM for about nine years now). Not so thrilled with my current phone, planning to upgrade when money allows (the Motorola Triumph is NOT that good a device).
