I kind of wonder about then when I speak with my mother. She’s tell me that “they’re all like that” with that being liars, cheaters, and lawbreakers, but she’s an ardent defender of Trump. She’ll say “both sides,” but she doesn’t really mean it.
I recently broke off contact with a long-time colleague. She’s always been conservative, and was initially highly critical of Trump. But she fell in line full tilt, to the point of not remembering (or denying) that she’s ever been otherwise.
My breaking point came when she started a conversation among a group of my friends about the increased crime in nearby Baltimore, asserting that the government shouldn’t allow bail for robbery suspects, but “just lock them up when you know they’re guilty”.
When someone explained to her that that’s not how the system works–that they get a trial, and a judge can decide to grant bail until then–she countered, “What about all those poor January 6 defendents still in jail?”
I got up, walked out, and have refused to answer any of her texts or voicemails. I see no point in having contact with people that far gone. She’s never going to change her opinions, and I’m never going to change my opinion that she’s at best nuts and at worst dangerous.
Oh, and a while back, she asked to use me as a reference for a concealed carry perrmit. I said yes, but have since changed my mind. Imagine how it would feel to know I helped her take part in a future Jan 6 event.
And the crowning touch: she’s a retired civil servant who worked forty years for an intelligence agency, collecting a pension from this government she supports overthrowing.

That sounds like a great idea, assuming the process involves a follow-up with the reference. Her? With a gun? I sure hope not; she’s a raging psychopath that shouldn’t carry anything more dangerous than a plastic spork.
A building contractor I worked with once was full-on for Trump, he even went to Washington, DC on January 6, sigh, but he stayed out on the Mall. What’s fascinating is that as COVID was ramping up he went full hazmat, wearing a P-100 respirator and ski goggles, shutting down his job sites if any of the crew got any sort of illness, and lamenting how nobody was taking this virus seriously. That was January/February 2020. Since then he’s shifted to the typical anti-vax, anti-mask, anti-social-distancing lunacy.
Had a family member who was a Trump supporter, but he died of COVID 19
My boss doesn’t seem to want to talk about Trump lately. I’m guessing he’s feeling something that he doesn’t quite recognize yet as doubt.
I gave notice so I won’t be able to report on our discussions for much longer. I might check on him in a few months and see if I can get a feel for how things are looking to him.
Can’t you block her so you don’t receive any of those in the first place?
One of the teachers at my school is a full blown CT and was certain that Trump would pull it off. He’s also a flat-Earther and I refuse to discuss anything directly with him.

I saw a car today with the vanity plate MAGA 17. Only a tRUMP supporter would pay for that one.
It’s an English school so I guess the managers have decided to look the other way. He apparently does keep his views to himself in class.

There isn’t necessarily a MAGA 1 - MAGA 16. The 17th letter is “Q”, and Qnatics love their numerology, so, while it could be that MAGAs 1-16 had already been taken, it could just be a Qbert wiggywaggin’* to others
