Yeah, my first was for a rather bad joke.
I think I got a warning once but can’t remember what it was for. Maybe I was warned that I might get a warning.

No warnings in roughly 20 years. I vaguely recall a Mod note in the distant past for forgetting which forum I was in and stepping over the line on personal comments, but I couldn’t tell you how long ago that was. One jokey pit thread someone started after I complained about not being pitted, but even that must have been about 15 years ago or so.
A whole bunch of warnings and notes. I love the way the mods act like Barney Fife and talk tough to warn me not to do things again.

I’ve been warned 3(?) times in my 19 years here. Two for being a jerk in the same thread. Posted a link to two posters as a reply to their comments. The link opened up a quick clip from The Princess Bride where Peter Falk says “yes, you’re very smart…shut up.”
For some insane reason that wasn’t well-received.

My MO is usually to say what I have to say, once, and move on. When I do post multiple times in a thread, it’s because I’m enjoying the conversation and getting along with everyone.
Not that I’m a goody-two-shoes or anything; just that getting into heated arguments with strangers on the intertubes isn’t really my thing.
I don’t know if the posts 19, 23 and 39 in this thread are a warning or not, but I did not expect them.
I know that I do not believe that this Beta Test Mod is a pure machine by the way it writes and because semantics, it sounds rather like a mix of an algorithm and a human. Looks like the future of my own job as I imagine/fear it.
IIRC, it’s been at least fifteen years since then (probably more). I was on the Boards, but hadn’t seen the drama, and it was all hush-hush around that time, and since then.
Is it too soon to ask just what happened, and what the kerfluffle was about?

Last I looked I had two official warnings. I had loads of little slaps on the wrist, though, and a few “we are suspending your fall from the cliff you jumped from. We strongly suggest you don’t do that again, because next time we won’t catch you”-type warnings.

It happened more than 20 years ago, before I joined in October 2000. My understanding is that Melin and another mod got into a public squabble on the board, and Ed Zotti told them to cool it. The other mod said OK, but Melin refused, and was de-modded.
The banning was a separate issue involving her making noises about taking legal action against the board. That’s always been an instaban offense.
No warnings that I recall - in fact, no notes either. Could have forgotten, I suppose, at least for notes.
@Colibri, thank you! I remember the latter issue (legal threats) but never associated it with the right person. I didn’t know about the former issue either.
