I’ve been at the SDMB for over a year now, and I’ve been able to use it to further my own goals and life several times. I’ve also been able to help dopers with it. I’m confident the same can be said of many of you.
This thread is dedicated to helping those who . . . well, who are missing.
Many of you, I imagine, get those mailings with “Have you seen us?” accompanied by a photo, sometimes age-enhanced, of a child and sometimes the adult with whom she or he was last seen. For all I know you all get them. But I think it’s time to use the great resources the SDMB has:
- membership
- loyal and caring membership
- Free bandwidth
- a kind heart
to help those who are missing.
I don’t have statistics on how many children go missing every minute or day or whatnot. This mailout says that over 105 children featured have been safely recovered. I cannot begin to express the pride I’m sure we would all have if this thread managed to find one of those kids. Maybe it won’t. But it’s sure as hell worth a shot.
Here’s what you do:
- Type in the info of the people on that mailout:

- Scan or somehow get online the pictures of those on the mailout (if you can). Include a link.
The central page of this effort, though primitive, is here. In addition, check out the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children here.
If there’s anyone who wants to email me with the image of a child featured on one of those mailouts, please email it to ncmecmissingkids@netscape.net and I’ll put it up as soon as I can.
Here’s wishing this thread and all the kids good luck.
