Many humble apologies, friends. I took half the day off, but now I am back among the Dopers (that’s Straight Dopers…not you, oldscratch. :)).
Thank you for playing along with my silly idea, struuter. You’ve mentored me with grace, wit, and a damn large dose of patience. I was amazed that you actually researched me before we started on this grand adventure. Your use of my favorite words (from a long-defunct thread) truly, truly impressed me. I’m gratified that I have made at least one good friend here on the SDMB (I’m not being too presumputous, am I?).
I’m also gratified that the Newbie Rites thread has done so well. For all you Newbies out there waiting to be adopted, I think the idea may have been milked as far as it’s gonna go. Don’t get discouraged if nobody adopts you. Get out there and post. Don’t leave the SDMB! We need lots of good posters. Most of the folks around here are very willing to hear what a new person would like to say.
