Yeah - this season has been a bit of a disappointment for me. I’m not going to complain about a chance to play for the 4th spot, but my RB situation really hampered my plans this year.
Well, like always, pretty much my entire team took a shit on itself when I needed it least. Brown barely crossed the line of scrimmage all day, Bradshaw went out with injury early, and my waiver WR to replace Harvin and Nelson (and Young and Broyles) played but didn’t get a single catch.
Congrats Munch, hope you catch the same luck in the playoffs!
furt is probably going to lose this week, absent Aaron Rodgers not showing up tonight. He’s probably put up enough points to avoid dropping out of the playoffs completely, though.
ETA: Jules, you only need Rodgers to outscore Stevan Ridley by 12. Considering Ridley has to play the Texans, I would say your odds are better than 50/50 (though not by much). The projection is 29-11.
Also, I am going to break the all time scoring record - the same season that Dave shatters it.
Speaking of records…
Well, he needs to not only win, but then not let me outscore him by 2 points (if I win).
Well, the results are in obviously, but after the season I’ve had, it’s kinda silly that you would give my team an even shot to do anything. I would have bet everything I own that Rodgers wouldn’t get 15 points, let alone 30 (which is why I said it was over hours before he stepped on the field). This entire season I’ve had to deal with this team disappointing at every opportunity, why should it change when it matters?
I look forward to outscoring every playoff team by 50 over the next two weeks.
Fracking Cardinals.
I’m going to feel just a little bit better when I lose if RNATB breaks 200.
So would I be a total jackass if I sat Schaub tonight? I can’t really afford a negative performance.
Dude, you were talking about how your season was over in week 5 and you’re going to miss the playoffs by (Stevan Ridley @ Houston - 2).
My three remaining guys are projected to score 28.25 combined, although I expect this game to be a shootout and I think those numbers are a bit low. That would put me over 180; I think the all-time single game record is 179 by VarlosZ, but I might be thinking of another league. Yahoo’s record book says it was 161.73 by Jules in week 6, but it only includes this year and last year for some reason.
You’ll have far an away the highest losing score of the season, in any event (previous high was 118), and this will presumably be the highest scoring game in league history.
I don’t see why. I mean, we don’t have a rule that says you have to have a legal roster. If you asked Hamlet before the game if he’d like you to spot him a quarterback, he’d presumably have said yes.
It will be hilarious if you wind up dropping a couple of points and missing the playoffs because of stat corrections, though. Plus, if Schaub has a huge game (like the one against Jacksonville) you could actually pass furt for the third seed and not have to play Dave.
Huh. I went back to 2008 (nobody was very good before then anyway) and it turns out 161 really is the record. Varlos has a 160-point game in 2009.
Playoffs are 'ere.
Munch’s Off Constantly takes on Weirddave’s Baltimore Weirdos in a David/Goliath kind of deal. On the season, Dave scored 180 more points and is projected to win 114-98. Munch has scored 100+ in four of the last five, but Dave has scored 100+ in eight of the last nine, and only failed to break 100 three times all year. Munch is (weirdly) helped by Fred Jackson going to IR, because it presumably means more touches for CJ Spiller, who he also owns, and Dave will probably be without Gronk again. Worth noting that Dave’s two losses on the season were by a combined 2.07 points, though he benefited from having the fewest points scored against him. Munch looks to have better matchups for his players, and if RGIII is out, Dave will be starting Andy Dalton (which wouldn’t be that bad).
In the other matchup, my Nine Inch Neils take on furt’s Fightin’ Quakers, and this one is closer on paper. On the season, I’ve outscored him by 145 points, and I’m favored by 106-94. furt has scored 100+ only once in the last five weeks, while I’ve done it in five of the last six (and scored over 120 in four of those games). In fact, I’ve basically been on fire since benching Phillip Rivers for Josh Freeman in midseason. However, my first loss of the season came against furt during Freeman’s bye, seven weeks ago, in a 113-61 drubbing. I have better matchups, and almost his entire team is playing on the road.
I’ll do a consolation preview tomorrow.
I thought the Buccaneers’ offense bed-shitting was going to doom me today. Instead, it seems (combined with the loss of RGIII and Gronk) to have doomed Dave instead. 'Tis a cruel mistress, this game we play. I could still conceivably lose to furt, too.
Wow - it’been a disapointing season for me thruohgout, but having my toop 3 sing poitons all year ine fless than 2.5 pts puts a fine wraper on it.
No consolation fo me. Looks like I pick #4 nect year.
Barring a Shonn Greene fumblethon, Wilson will knock off Omni in a close consolation bracket semi-final. Jules has already knocked off Spiritus Mundi in… a less close one. I might add that both winning teams scored more points in the regular season than their opponents, so these aren’t really upsets.
As for me, I’m going to the championship game. Again.
Cmon, Shonn Greene… I want me a nice shiny Adrian Peterson next year (or at least Arian Foster)…
For the record, you could all have had AP this year.
Yeah, I guess I could have. But even Peterson’s mom wasn’t taking him with the third pick, so I don’t think I had a real shot at him.
True.
Championship week is here! It’s defending champ me against upstart Munch, whose team is suddenly looking kind of scary with DeMarco Murray back.
Over the last six weeks (including playoffs), I’ve averaged 121 points, with one sub-100 point game. Munch has averaged 104, with one game under 100. On the season, I would have beaten him in all but three weeks, including a squeaker last week. We’ve both won three straight. In Week 11 of the regular season, I beat him 120-110.
However, I have bad matchups this week, and Yahoo! actually has him projected to win 105-102.
“Upstart”? Son, I started this league. (And it’s been nothing but pain and misery for the last 11 years.)
Good, then you can be commissioner. Actually, we should totally do that: league champ has to be commish the following season.
