I get home, flip on the TV, and I see the Seahawks are up 30-7. Oh cool, I think, at least I’ll have plenty of Russell Wilson points. Nope, 6. How perplexing. Wilson has been a roller coaster this year, after being one of the most consistent QBs in the past.
My 10-2 opponent is going to only score like 40 points this week apparently. And it doesn’t even matter - even with beating him I can only get to 9-4. Unfortunately the second place team, Hermits, is going to win with like 80 points scored. So even though they’re going to limp into the playoffs, no chance to unseat them from their byes.
After the head to head screwing we saw last year (where the top 3, and 4 of the top 5 scorers missed the playoffs) our playoffs this year actually have all the right people - the top 6 scorers made the playoffs. Safety Blitz would’ve earned a bye if we were playing by points scored, but that’s a pretty minor injustice compared to the top 6 guys making it.
Oh for fucks sake. The defenses I picked up this week is currently scoring 40 points, but because my formerly pro bowl high floor mr. reliable quarterback starter is sitting at -6 again I’m gonna lose.
Yay Russell Wilson finally has a good game just in time for it to not matter.
Edit: Oh nevermind, it wasn’t even a very good game. I saw the 30+ points and forgot I also had Seattle’s kicker. Blah. I drafted him a bit too high after I missed out on Rodgers because he seemed like he had a very high floor, but meh.
Two major errors for me, one with the draft, and one in the regular season, that made the difference between a bye and my getting shellacked this week: first, believing that Charles would give me anything resembling 2nd-round production, and second, changing horses on Carolina to go streaming.
I knew what I’d be getting with Fitz and Baldwin, middle-of-the road production, so that made my choice of RB’s (and especially the flex slot) crucial. A solid 2nd rounder in flex (or Blount in flex and the second rounder in the RB2 slot) would have resolved things. As it was, I found some pretty nice production from Tyrell Williams off the WW, but not the solid scoring I would’ve gotten from a starting RB. And Carolina sucked for me all through the beginning of the season, which didn’t help and led to my decision to go cherry-picking on defenses. I needed solid production there too, which I would’ve gotten if I hadn’t gone shopping. Wasted opportunities.
One of the semi-final games has two scores that are basically outscored by the rest of the league, so they’re lucky they got a chance to play each other, since they’re fairly close. They’re basically tied at 66.8 and 66.9 points. Balitmore Weirdos has Jordan Reed left to play, and Disgruntled Goats has Johnathan Stewart.
Hamlet needs a mere 24 points out of his kicker to beat Hermits.
Same for me last week, when it didn’t count. C’est la vie, I guess.
And, my puter having had a meltdown yesterday and being unable to access the page because I can’t remember my old yahoo account, could you PM it to me for future reference?
Well, it was a slightly better than mediocre year for me, I guess…three leagues, one championship trophy, one-and-done here, and didn’t even make the 4-team championship playoffs in the third. My championship team (bear in mind that this is a 10-player league, so the overall quality is slightly higher than in He Hate Me):
Legends 2016
QB: Drew Brees, Matthew Stafford
RB: Mark Ingram, Jordan Howard, Ryan Mathews, Spencer Ware, Jeremy Hill
WR: OBJ, Jordy Nelson, Brandin Cooks, DeSean Jackson, Tyrell Williams
TE: Kyle Rudolph
K: Adam Vinatieri
DEF: Kansas City
10-4 regular season, #2 in scoring, #2 playoff seed, and a nailbiter final against the eventual runner-up, who had Aaron Rodgers, Le’Veon Bell, and Matt Bryant (who went ballistic this week) among others, 127.26-121.58 in standard scoring.
Well that was fun, thanks y’all, very good league, very competitive. Wish I hadn’t given up on Mariota and Rishard Matthews but at least I got Dak. I’ve had a great FF year, made the playoffs in a 16 team league (one and done) and am in the championship in my 10 team keeper league, playoffs are two week games so one more week to go.
Also, a big thank you to Senor Beef, we really should find a way to reward the man who puts so much time into running these FF leagues.
Wow, after looking over the season, thank you y’all for giving me your worst game, my points weren’t horrible but I had I league best 1043 Points against, 60 points more than the next max PA, #12 Omnipotents. Right Place, Right Time.
Considering what my team looked like at the start of the season, I suppose the #2 pick isn’t a bad return. Of course, I have no keepers (again) except possibly DeAndre Washington as literally every RB on my team got injured or benched.
