He Hate Me FF Keeper League - Year 15

We traditionally draft the day after Labor Day so the draft will be set to Tuesday, Sep 5 at 8:30 Eastern. If that’s a problem, speak up now.

Due to the way yahoo handles signups, I had to boot everyone from the league manually and re-invite them to their normal yahoo FF e-mail address. Please take the invite to indicate you’ll be playing this year and tell us here if you can’t.

I’m looking for someone else to commish the league if they’re interested. This traditionally hasn’t been one of my leagues and I feel a bit like an outsider running it. I just stepped in at a time no one else would to get it going, but I’d be happy to hand it over if anyone else wants to run it.

If you’re interested in playing this league, you can express the interest here and if anyone isn’t coming back we’ll look to recruit.

We had 3 rule changes last year that all won by a significant majority vote. We went to a 6 man playoff format. We adjusted it so that the consolation bowl winner gets the top pick (before the entire consolation bowl got picks 1-4), and we added an IR slot to the rosters.

As far as I know those rule changes are still popular, but we can discuss those and any new proposals anyone has.

Keeper lists to come later.

I’m in.

Me three…just waiting on the keeper list, since both the league and my brain have done an info dump.

And a suggestion for a rule change that I made last season, but no one commented on: I’d like to see owners be able to keep individual players for up to three years, with the same penalty (i.e., a third-year keeper would take up the pick 4 rounds earlier than he was originally drafted, so if he was picked in the first 4 rounds, no joy).

It’s a two round penalty every time one is kept, so I think you mean a 6 round penalty for the third kept year. I can put that up to a vote in the league page.

I need confirmation from Hamlet, Omniscient, VarlosZ, Ottoerotic, and Overly Sentimental that you’ll be playing this year. Please accept your pending invite, or tell us if you won’t be able to play this year.

Keeper list. One star means they’ve been kept one year. Two stars actually means they’ve been kept twice and aren’t eligible to re-keep under current rules, but I’m listing them in case you forgot they were on their third year and wondered where they went. Technically if we were to switch to 3 kept years, they’d be eligible to be re-kept… except I’d imagine if we implemented that rule we’d probably start applying it on players drafted this year going forward so that no one has an advantage. We can work that out when we discuss that proposal.

Hmm…I thought the rules as they were only allowed keeping for two years (including the initial year the player was picked). If yours is the case, that was what I was proposing, so…never mind…

Nothing like easy decisions. I’d love to keep Fitzy, but 3rd round is too rich for my blood.

You can book Baldwin and Graham; 8th round is still ludicrous value for Dougie, and I’m good with locking in TE for a 10th-rounder. Garcon is the only other one who’s even on the radar value-wise, but I don’t trust the Niners’ QB situation, and I think I can do better via the draft.

Hey guys, I’m back, going into year two of this mediocre roster I inherited.

I don’t really have a take on the keeper years issue except to say we should maybe consider making changes (if any) take effect NEXT season, better to allow people to plan.

Remind me how off-season trades work? If you trade a guy do you have to keep who you get back? Or can you just trade a player’s “rights”? Does that mean you can only trade one-for-one?

If we don’t fill out I expect my friend poopiusdickimus (I hate having typed that) would play. We know him from big league.

Excited for the season!

I’m probably just keeping Ameer Abdullah in the 4th and Andy Dalton in the 9th. I don’t like the idea of changing the keeper rules.

You gain whatever eligibility the player you traded back for had. So if the other person drafts a player that year, and you trade for him a player you drafted this year (outside the first 2 rounds), you can both keep the players you traded for another 2 years.

But if you trade a player you drafted this year for a player someone picked up off waivers, they can keep your player (as he was eligible to be kept) but you can’t.

So the new owner inherits whatever eligibility for keeping the original owner would’ve had.

There’s no rule that it has to be one for one. I guess if you traded for someone who would have to be kept in a round you already had another keeper you’d probably have to keep them a round higher than normal.

I’m in. Likely keeping Jordy Nelson in the 6th, Spencer Ware in the 7th, and Davante Adams in the 14th.

Still debating my keepers - just want to make sure I understand the draft order.

I was 13th last year - does that mean I pick 3rd this year? After the consolation winner, then the 14th place finisher?

Adding Garcon to my keepers, barring another change of heart.

I’m just declaring White as my keeper.

Yes.

We still have outstanding invites to Otto, Omni, and Hamlet. Otto I don’t remember if he has a history of signing up late. I know Omni and Hamlet are probably going to sign up this year, but they’ve been around the boards in time to see my PMs asking them to sign up, so it’s really annoying that they haven’t. On one hand I want to wait as long as I can to give people a chance to drag their asses in here, but on the other hand finding out in late august that you have slots to fill means you’ve got very little chance of filling them since everyone is already committed to the leagues they want to play in. Leaving it unknown this late into the process is not cool.

Alright, so I have to keep David Johnson (5th) and Jay Ajayi (6th), but then I have the option to keep Terelle Pryor in the 12th and Martavis Bryant in the 13th. Obviously I can’t do both.

I’m not sure who to keep. Obviously the keeper rights for one of them is up for trade. I might have to dig through previous threads to see what fair value might be, but I’m not sure we’ve ever had a keeper as good as either of those players in the super late rounds available for trade (because someone already had 3 better keepers). Pryor is #26 on yahoo’s big board, which, given keepers, likely makes him a mid 2nd round pick value in our league if he were being drafted (players get moved up due to a lot because a lot of top picks are already locked in as keepers) and Bryant is 49th, which would likely make him a 3rd round pick in terms of value.

Anyway, you’d get to keep Pryor in the 12th and Bryant in the 13th. To pay for that, we’d do some sort of pick swap. Maybe something like 6th for 16th, I’m not sure. I’ll listen to offers.

Wait, doesn’t the consolation bowl runner-up (me) get the second pick?

I proposed this rule change last year:

And it passed 7-1. So it’s just the winner that gets the #1 pick, everything else is reverse order of standings.
