This means if you traded for someone, they won't be in your list. It is up to everyone to let me know what potential keepers you traded for so they can be added to your list. Everyone should check their final rosters from last year in the league overview page in Yahoo. There's a dropdown in the top right to pick which season you want to look at. From there you'll be able to see both Final Rosters and Draft Results. There are some big names that should be on these lists that aren't, so don't let your sweet keepers fall through the cracks! |

Refresher course for offseason trading: (Mostly quotes from last years' thread.)
All players listed in the "eligible keepers" lists can be kept regardless of who owns their rights at the deadline. (But they can only be kept by whomever ends up owning the rights.) That means if you have four excellent keeper prospects, you can trade one away for picks instead of just losing him. (Since you can only keep three players.) The three year term is tied to the NFL player, not the fantasy owner. If you acquire a guy who was kept last year, you only get to keep him once. (This year.) You don't have to keep anyone. Meaning if you acquire the rights to a keeper through a trade and then later decide to not keep him, it doesn't have any effect on you. Right now your list of eligible keepers is simply the list of players you are allowed to keep. You can grow or shrink that list however you please during the trading period. Once the trading period ends, whatever players are left on your list, you can keep 0, 1, 2, or 3 of them. You are in no way obligated to keep a player you traded for. For any keepers, if you have a high draft pick in that round, trade down for a lower one getting change back. That change back is free money, since your draft pick in that round will go toward the keeper no matter what. If you don't understand this, ask for clarification. This is the primary use of offseason trading. Offseason trading goes through the end of the month. Once the trading period is officially over, only then do we declare who we actually want to keep. A week after that is the live draft, during which there is no official trading. Obviously I have no authority to prevent people making side deals during the live draft, but I would rather that doesn't happen because if a problem arises, I would have to arbitrate. And I'll be busy doing other things during the live draft. So not prohibited, but discouraged. The official timeline is at the top of the OP, but if people have last minute deals they want to push through I'll extend the deadlines. I will not rules-lawyer you. The deadlines are a matter of convenience for me, to ensure I have plenty of time to get the bookeeping done during that busy week. (Several SDMB drafts are scheduled for that week.) If anyone doesn't submit their keepers on time I will pursue them up until the night before the draft via PM and/or email to give them every opportunity to keep who they want. Please work with me, though, to make my job easier. NOTICE: I personally require that everyone always has exactly 16 draft picks. So any trades involving draft picks must send an equal number of picks both ways. When you reach a trade agreement, email or PM me the details and I'll publish them for you. Do not post them yourself, as they may be disallowed and you'll have tipped your hand to the rest of the league. |

Matt Schaub is officially on the block. He'll cost you a swap of second-round picks*, and he'll cost you your fourth round pick (I kept him in the sixth last year).
Also, I scored the third most points last year and finished sixth. Be afraid. Be very afraaaaaid. *Assuming swapping your second round pick is worth more than a spot or two to me. Last edited by Really Not All That Bright; 07-30-2010 at 09:20 AM. |

I also have the rights to Vernon Davis, who was drafted in the 14th and can be kept in the 12th.
That gives me four keepers for sale. I'll listen to offers on the following. Looking to move up in odd-numbered rounds. Rashard Mendenhall can be kept in the 3rd Darren Sproles in the 10th Jeremy Maclin in the 11th Vernon Davis in the 12th Last edited by furt; 07-30-2010 at 11:58 AM. |

My 5th round pick (first overall) is on the table for a low 5th round pick. I'm also willing to trade away all even-round picks for those looking to maximize keeper values.
I'm also willing to trade away the top pick for the right offer. Last edited by Munch; 07-30-2010 at 02:30 PM. |

I will swap my (#2) 9th and 11th-round picks for peanuts, since I'll be using those for keepers. Prefer to swap them for a higher pick in the 6th or 8th.

Howdy folks! Checking in. It's finally football time eh? Couldn't come soon enough.
Added to my keeper list are Matt Ryan (kept last year by Munch in the 12th) and Brent Celek (drafted last year by Munch in the 14th), both of whom I traded for last year. Knowshon Moreno (drafted in the 4th) and LeSean McCoy (drafted in the 6th) are both available for trade, though I'm only looking to move one of the two. Any chance you remember who you traded away to get him? Hamlet drafted him, so he may be missing a keeper too.

Everyone is in except Bababooey. I just did a quick search to see if he is still an active poster, and it looks like he is (albeit sporadically) but he's having computer problems. I'll give him some time to get everything sorted out, but longer than a week will start to get problematic. Unfortunate timing.

I can't reflect the draft pick trades in the league until we get a 14th manager, so after a couple of them I'll post updated draft pick "rosters" to the thread. Hopefully Bababooey gets his computer issues worked out soon. Last edited by Ellis Dee; 08-02-2010 at 01:22 PM. |

Omni, I think I sent you some trade offers when this thread was started (it would have been via the league site). It was probably regarding draft picks, since we're on opposite ends of the draft.

Um, that's in a 10-team standard Yahoo non-keeper league. He's averaging 37th overall. In a 14 team league that's the 9th pick in the 3rd round. It also discounts the fact that of the 35 people ranked ahead of him probably 2/3rds of them will be kept. If I don't keep Rivers there's virtually no chance he lasts through the second round in this league format.

I've got him going 43rd overall, and there won't be many out of the 35 or 42 ranked ahead of him who get kept, because we can't keep 1st- or 2nd-round picks.

Going by the Yahoo roster, half the guys with an ADP ahead of him will probably be keepers. Many of those guys are historical keepers and the rest are guys like Miles Austin, Jamaal Charles and Sidney Rice who are new to the scene. The only guys really out of the mix are stalwarts like Brady, Manning, Moss and two or three of the older RBs. |

I just realized that I never set the draft order. I'll try to take care of that tonight, along with updating for the draft pick trade that already went through upthread. Also, I should really sit down and identify the trade offers I want to make and send them out. |

Things are way to quiet with this league. It depresses me. Last years league thread didn't hardly have a single in season post to it.

I'll be more into it this year. Last year I didn't set a pre-draft order since there was no way I was missing it, but something came up and Yahoo drafted an AWFUL team for me. This time I'll set up the order, but almost certainly will make the draft.

Same here, except I did manage to show up in the middle of it. I think my first actual pick was in the 6th or 7th round. Learned my lesson; preranking is vital no matter how certain you are you're going to be there.
Glad to see you got your computer fixed, btw. |

I think it's the Dope in general. There isn't even a preseason thread yet. I think people just haven't gotten into the NFL yet. I agree though, there absolutely needs to be more activity around here. Starting with people sending me offers to swap their first round pick with my eleventh. Shocked that those haven't started pouring in.

How many people in this league no longer post on the Dope?

Only Weirddave, IIRC, although I haven't seen Nurse Carmen or a few other people around in a while.

Of the six owners that haven't posted in this thread, I'm pretty sure Hamlet, The Mad Hermit, VarlosZ and NurseCarmen are still active.
Spiritus Mundi last posted in December; Weirddave is banned. I'm here but don't have much to say - my horrible autodraft last year left me with no decent keeper prospects, except possibly Tony Romo with the 25th pick. With the amount of good keepers, he may be decent value there, but nothing to get excited about. So I'm pretty much just waiting for the draft. Last edited by Wilson; 08-16-2010 at 08:20 AM. |

Actually, now that I think about it, was it Mundi who said last year that he was having some medical issues? Hope he's okay.

If anyone has an issue come up where they can't attend the draft, I can draft in your place. I like drafting and I'm pretty good at it - I'll do better than an autodraft. Just change your yahoo password to something generic and PM me your account details. Or I guess we might be able to do a comanagement thing, but I'd have to use a secondary account since I'll have my 4 leagues full.

I'll go ahead and second SenorBeef on his offer to proxy draft. He'd be a fantastic choice if you couldn't make the draft and needed someone to take your spot. I say this because, as a competitor in the league, I'd want nothing more than for you to let SenorBeef draft for you. Since you'll end up with an entire team full of Browns, and they don't figure to be any good this season, we'd have one less team to worry about competing for the title this season.

Well, it beats a team full of Raiders.

He's just trying to scare you because he knows a team I draft will crush him. I didn't really draft Browns last year - my auction league had none, my All-pro league only had them after my 13th round pick, my dynasty league pick of James Davis in the 8th round does look silly in retrospect but before he got hurt he appeared to be the starter. My teams are slightly more Browns-heavy than average, but looking at last year, not very much so.
Plus, I wouldn't show that bias when drafting for someone else. There's an appeal to be rooting in fantasy for the team I'm watching anyway - but after this draft my rooting interest in this team/league would be gone. |

I'd rather have the Raiders guys than the Browns. QB, RB(s), WRs, TE, all of it.

No argument there, judging by the All-Pro league, your team would probably crush mine. And then, again judging by the All Pro league, I'd go on to win it all. Twice.

And then cowardly slink off so that you didn't have to face my wrath this year!

Weirddave and I have agreed to the following trade: he gets the keeper rights to Matt Schaub and my 2nd and 4th round picks. I get his 2nd and 4th round picks.

*keeper declaration*
In case I forget later, I just wanted to get this on record: I'll be keeping Mario Manningham with my 13th Round pick, Matt Leinart with my 11th Round pick, and Aaron Rodgers with my 4th Round pick (Rodgers was kept last year).
Naturally, I reserve the right to modify my keepers up until the deadline. Last edited by VarlosZ; 08-23-2010 at 11:19 AM. |

Good idea. I am keeping:
Steve Smith (NYG - WR) 7th round Percy Harvin (Min - WR) 9th round Carnell Williams (TB - RB) 10th round |

Oh, and I'd also mention that, while I'm hardly desperate to trade the rights to any of those three, interesting offers are always welcome.
Also, if anyone is interested in the rights to RB Felix Jones (3rd Rounder this year) or Wr Ted Ginn, Jr. (6th), they can be had for a song. Jones will definitely get enough touches to not be a total bust, and his upside is huge if Barber is hurt or ineffective. Ginn, due to his return yardage, is more valuable than you think. Even in a surprisingly poor receiving year, he was the 34th ranked WR in our league last season, making him a marginal starter or a very good first bench guy. IMO, that's pretty much his downside this year, and if he can just put up mediocre numbers on offense (like 600/2), he could very easily wind up in the top 24 or better, making him a flat-out fantasy starter. And, again, he has a very low downside for a potentially very useful player. Think about it. |

You forget that Ginn (and the other 'phins) all moved down a spot on the depth chart this year. He's fighting for the "starting" slot assignment.
As far as Jones goes, if this was the Dynasty league, I'd take him with a 3rd in a second. |
