I have to admit I was rooting for you - I think that NIN is the most dangerous team in the league, and can put up points in bunches (or maybe I’m just scared of Jonathan Taylor…). And he has slightly more favorable matchups next week than you, I think. But man - looking through the weekly results, some of your scores are just violently hateful!
My team constantly surprised me. Every week they start off so damn slow (last week even more so, since 90% of my team seemingly played on Tuesday…). But today all of my players were on Sunday 1pm. At halftime, they’d gone from an expected total of like 110 down to 96. It’s a terrible metric, and Yahoo has no ability to be anything close to accurate, but it scared me. My QB ended the half with negative points! Assuming Kamara doesn’t put up 60 tomorrow, I look forward to stressfully picking through the dregs of the TEs all week long to find someone to go.
Crazy game. You were favored by over 20, then I was favored by 20, then I… wasn’t. I was still going to win until the Steelers’ garbage time TD.
Considering my bad luck with receiver “injuries” this year - I must be the first person to lose a player to depression - I can be pretty thrilled to have made it this far. It’s annoying to know I had two players on my bench who could have won me the game, though.
Bort really Chase’d me out of town. But really, I was in a giant hole by 1:20pm, when his midweek pickup scored (who I should have had handcuffed to Gibson 3 weeks ago) and Evans crawled off his deathbed to also score. Then the Chiefs put Dan Sorenson on Jamaar Chase, and it was all over. Solid season, Bort!
Wow. I didn’t think I would pull it off. I didn’t even check the scores for a while since I was recording the Bears game and didn’t want to spoil it. It feels good to win with a dominant game (I think my 2nd highest score) vs just limping along. I think I can go ahead and pencil in Chase as my keeper for next year.
Great season everyone! Too late to make this a money league?
Yeah, it really was. Dave and Omni probably would disagree, though. However, I was really glad (aside from my personal benefit) to see some big swing trades, and Dave really tried to take some last-ditch chances, but they didn’t pan out. Ruggs was a fluke character bust, and I did think Darnold had major keeper potential. Bzzt! Omni got destroyed by injuries. Im always amazed at how critical mid-season and even week-to-week waiver moves are, even in such a deep league where handcuffs and keepers and being held.
Also, despite the lockout, it’s not too early to think about fantasy baseball. If you had fun here, and want to give baseball a shot, the Big League here is a ton of fun and a great community to cut your teeth in.
Looks like we’re 3 people short at the moment. I’d recommend getting the thread going, sending out reminders to those 3 people, and maybe think about recruiting if we need to. Earlier is better if we need to recruit - it gives longer to get the message out, and often times people already join the number of leagues they want to play by the end of August, so we don’t want to start recruiting in September.
