Hearts and Flowers in the MMP

Wednesday is Valentine’s day. Does it matter? Do you bother? Discuss.

Happy Moanday!

First! Woot!

We are aware of what Wednesday is, but don’t really bother much with it. There will be an exchange of cards and that’s about it - I’ll be out that evening anyway 'cos it’s bootcamp night at the gym.

In other news, we had snow last night. Not much of it, but more than I wanted to see. Someone tell the WPTB to stop it, right now!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinated so no YAWN. Also have broken fast and purtified. Bug man will be here around eight-thirty this mornin’ to do his monthly thing. I even have a load of miscellaneous stuff (tshirts, pj pants, and socks to be exact) washin’ away as I post. Go Me! The Pubic Sto’ has a sale on shrimpies so I shall procure shrimpies. We shall sup upon shrimp 'n grits just cause.

Wednesday is also Ash Wednesday aka the beginnin’ of Lent. We shall sup on pancakes, bacon, and snausage over to the church house tomorrow night bein’ as tomorrow is Shrove Tuesday aka Mardi Gras. So, Wednesday becomes a day of fast thus no mushy stuff or chawklit.

I even have a poem for the occasion.

Roses are red
Violets are blue
Today is Ash Wednesday
No chocolate for you!

Romantic ain’t it!

Happy Moanday Y’all!

We shall continue our time-honored tradition of completely ignoring Valentine’s Day. I’ve probably mentioned this before, but one year, I did make an effort - I baked a heart-shaped cake, and used red icing to write “Happy V.D.!” on it. **FCD **took it to his office. His coworkers appreciated it.

Apart from that, the only efforts I ever made was remembering to buy valentines for my daughter to give out at school. And I think we did a card thing here on the Dope one year, so I sent out some cheapies.

Take that, Hallmark!!!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Closing shift tonight.

I don’t do anything for Valentine’s Day. I may indulge on Half Price Chocolate Day, though.

Now if roses are purple
And violets are pink
It probably means
your TVs on the blink

VD doesn’t mean much to me other than cheap clearance prices on candy I probably shouldn’t eat is only a couple days away.
Other than that getting ready for work which could run until midnight or end at 9pm. You gotta love those flex-ups-and-downs we get sometimes. The possible dusting of snow turned out to be about 2 really wet and heavy inches so all the other drivers around here are in PANIC MODE!!! so I’ll be leaving a little early to avoid them as best I can.

I kind of like Valentine’s Day, even though I’m not in a relationship. Mmm, chocolate candy.

On Valentine’s Day this year I’ll be playing in a concert, but it’s not Valentine’s-themed.

Happy Moonday!

It was chilly out this morning, it’s a dreary 37 degrees now.
Originally the forecast said high in the 50s today, but that has changed to a high of 43.
I’m not complaining, much better than single digits.

Bit of a crazy morning today, but everything is settled down now.

Valentines Day is a nothing day for me.
No SO and not looking for one either.
OAOASO will probably send me a text, which is pretty much all he ever did.
He might put in the extra effort to include a gif with it.
My father always bought us candy for VD, my mother got the BIG heart shaped box, we girls got a smaller box.
Whitman’s chocolates.

Nice poem Swampy

This VD the furnace gets inspected.

Today is go pick up groceries day.

I have a list of things to do, none of which I feel like doing.

Never been much for Valentine’s Day, so no plans for it.

Leak detection guy called early (well, 8am is early when you’re retired) and said he’d be hear between 11-1. Thing is, rug is completely dry after shutting off water all weekend, so now I have to go outside and turn it back on to get the carpet wet again. Ah well, probably need a bath anyway.

35F now after a weekend of near 70F temperatures, but supposed to warms up during the week. We shall see.

Need to forage for food now. All y’all take care.

I’m not much for Valentine’s day, but my husband is rather fond of it. So this year, particularly, I tried to convince him not to do anything, because money is tight. It didn’t work.

Let’s see: lows in the 20s overnight. Back to rain then sun then rain then sun. This is all my fault. :woe: I said Winter was over.

Trying to get second child moving towards school. It’s amazing humanity survives. My son comes home and complains about his chores. It feels like the Old Yorkshiremen around here. Apparently no one else has to doany chores at all. My daughter’s rebellion (if you can reallly call it that) is a reluctance to rise from bed before noon. I feel her pain. Still. Let’s get moving here. Chop, chop!

Happy Moansday!

Ursala Kitteh and Miss Red Head Mare don’t have opposable thumbs so no chance of a card from them. They also have no money so no chocolates. Ash Wednesday is Wednesday, so sayeth swampy, so I may have to go on chocolate binge Tuesday night.

The weekend snow total was about 16 inches. Lots and lots of piles o’ snow around here. I’d like to wake up tomorrow and have it all gone, but alas, no heat wave for us in no. Illinois.

I never liked Valentines, due to having a birthday 2 days later; it tends to mean only that going out for dinner to celebrate my birthday is more expensive, places are all booked up, and if you’re really lucky, they’re on some lovey dovey stupid overpriced couples’ menu for the weekend. Never had an SO that paid any attention to it either (probably because I stated that I hates it, I does).

First day of last week of irk experience. This edition is outside, so I’m keeping fingers crossed for acceptable weather. Cold I can deal with fine, but wet makes gardenin’ in a place like that a nightmare. Just about over the ick, but my sleeping habits got all messed up, so I’s mega tahred. Too tahred to call in the shop on the way back, despite being out of booze.

I thought we had a sprinkling of snow last night, but on closer inspection it was actually tiny hail. Could have tried to build a snowman with tweezers anyway, I suppose.

Don’t like VD, or valentine’s day for that matter.
Don’t like any occasion where I am expected to buy something for somebody.
Not a good little capitalist, me.

And now that I think about it, why is it always the guy who’s supposed to buy the girl something? I never see ads exhorting wimmen to buy their mens diamonds, or flowers, or candy. Not that I care about those things, but still.

Oh, and the good chocolate is never on sale.

Very annoyed with CVS pharmacy, still.
Transferred all my prescriptions there from Walgreens last month, at my insurance co.'s insistence.
Downloaded their sorry excuse for an app to my phone.
App will not allow me to order prescriptions without a CVS prescription number.
App simply says “contact your pharmacy to refill”.
They don’t answer their phone.
I’ve stood there and watched them not answer their phone.
I’ll probably have to drive over there, again.

If I had a fainting couch (like Swampy’s) i’d lay on it. And drink.

Happy Moanday, y’all.

Another day of sloth. Just sitting here in the recliner watching the Olympics. I am still very tired. Surely by now the anesthesia has worn off. I do need to get dressed and try to be normal. I sort of feel guilty for not going to irk. Not bad but just a little.

I finally got payment for my travel claim. Only five months later. The money has already been spent on the credit card. Easy come easy go.

Happy Moanday.

Butters, what all was done up in your sinuses? I had sinus surgery about 15 years ago and it took at least 2 weeks for me to feel remotely human.

It is friggin’ cold outside.
The sun is shining but it’s windy.
My phone said the temp was 37 but feels like 30.
So we are back and most of the haul has been put away.
I don’t know where I am going to put everything.

I don’t use company pharmacies. There are too many customers, and the employees don’t give a damn about you.

Well, the leak detection guy was here, he’s located the problem so I have a diagnosis, a 4 x 12 inch hole in the closet wall, and no water. Insurance and Plumber have been informed and hopefully re-construction will start Wednesday.

Could have been worse. Guy said it was a small (“pinpoint”) leak and he didn’t think it was under the slab, probably in or on top of it, which could save some major dollars.

Only question is if I got to the carpet soon enough to prevent it from having to be removed and replaced.

As for chocolate, one nice thing about being a heathen is that I don’t have to worry about penance or sacrifices…:wink:

Nut, Sari, Butters; all y’all hang in there and stay/get well.

I think I’m in lurves.

::Pulls box out of mailbox::
::rips it open::
::nomnomnommmms the chocolates that were inside::

I vote that we give up flytrap for Lent.
Oh, wait a sec; you’re supposed to give up something you like, right? :o
