Yeah! She seems to post more from Chicago than from Korea. I think she should go back to Chicago.
Home. I’m really only dizzy now when I work hard. I need an Rx for a Sugar Mama, stat! It monsooned for a bit, the power flickered off and on at work. I bought beer, the cashier’s BS birth date she typed in was only off by 20 days. I love Kroger. The police did a small raid at the complex next door. 6 cop cars, but no shooting or shouting, so I guess they cornered a docile ax murderer.
Spaz, I would have beaten cellboy to death with the Flaming Pan of Doom[sup]TM[/sup], but I’m cruel that way.
Bobbio, [Beavis]heh, heh, Fire! Fire! heh, heh![/Beavis]
FCM, since SIL is learning, are you gonna let the kid keep him, or are you still planning on putting him to sleep?
Yay for Soapson(Sliver?) !!!
Yay for an appreciated Taters!!!
time for much beer!
IMS, you can make a wet paste (very “loose”–I have lost my words tonight. Dilute would be a good word) of baking soda and water and simmer it in the effected pan. Stir with a wooden spoon (so you don’t scratch the stainless steel) and that should get the rest of it off. I think. Not sure, actually… (sorry). Worth a try.
I spent a pleasant hour with our neighbors who are watching their great niece and nephew this weekend. Offspring are ages 4 and 2, girl and boy. Cute as can be and sweet. I showed them how to play hopscotch (which was interesting with the two year old), and #2 son got to be the Older Kid God–they both worshipped him and he lapped it up.
I spoke with Daughter. I wrote on her wall on Facebook. I put: “call your mother.” heh. She did–she loved orientation and was on her way to an Alkaline Trio concert with her BFF and BFF’s older brother.
#1 son has tried naan, curry and sushi (not at the same time). This we get from my brother, since #1 son hasn’t deigned to email us as yet. He should be diving these next 2 days.
Off to bed. Just watched 42 Up–the Michael Apted series. Good stuff.
Sorry for my absence! I’ve been reading along, but it’s very weird reading everything all at once (as to reading bits and pieces throughout the day). Belated good wishes for Prof. Rapunzel’s son and birthday wishes for Pie.
Am I scheduled for tomorrow’s MMP?
Why yes! You are the official MMP-starter! (And yes, it IS weird reading the whole thing at once, isn’t it?) I much prefer my days off and weekends. When is someone else going to support me in the style to which I have become accustomed?
And a question: Why am I awake?
I woke up after a dream that I was moving to a different house. Now that I think about it, I think it was in my childhood neighborhood, but it greatly resembled both the last place I rented, although the bedroom was like one of my rooms in Berlin.
I would like to be sleepy again, please?

Spaz, I was going to suggest simmering some tomato sauce in the pan, but on reflection, that may only work on aluminum pans. Still, if all else fails…
**doggio ** - I dunno about letting her keep him.
But I will say when he and I were talking as I made dinner, he was saying the right things about their plans, and it didn’t sound coached, so I feel a little better. I hope he continues to surprise me.
**gt ** - I was up a little before you were - coughing fit in the middle of the night - grrrrr! Then just after 5, I woke up and I couldn’t fall back to sleep.
Which is OK, I guess. Daughter is getting up at 6 and leaving by 7 - she has to be at camp, dressed and ready to go by 9:30. Today, her first 2-week campers arrive (last week was 1- week and try-out camp) Their trek to WalMart last night was for more shorts and tank tops plus some craft supplies.
When she and I were going to Lowe’s, I was asking her about the whole camp thing (granted, it’s just been 2 weeks) and she’s really enjoying it. One of the classes she taught was creative writing (the others included sailing and archery and something else…) so this all fits in with the teacher thing. I asked if she thought she’d do it again next year, and she said probably not, because of leaving spousal unit behind. OK, I get that, but they’re just barely newlyweds right now. Why does that make next year less appealing for working there?? I dunno…
First order of business after getting rid of the kid and having some breakfast is to clean/organize the basement before we try to do any more work. It’s gotten to where it’s too crowded and there are too many trip hazards. I’m hoping we’ll move some of the power tools up to the garage - with 3 of us and the trailer, it should be fairly easy… in theory… But the more we clear out, the easier it should be to continue work.
Today, I may be forced to turn the AC on again. Stoopit heat and humidity. We’ll see how that plays out. Certainly by the end of the week, we’ll be closed in again - they’re talking upper 80s. I can deal with it most of the time, but the guys are such wussies about it…

Happy Sunday!!
I have had four hours of sleep because I had to pick up Complicated Roommate from work last night.
WOWCrack Roommate left his cell phone in the kitchen. The alarm has been going off since six o’clock.
I just threw the damn thing at the little bastard sleeping on the couch so he can turn the fs;lajkoisnfskdjl;fghsal;kd thing off.
I am going to seriously kill someone. I have to be at work tonight from 6-10 and I have to get up at 6:30 tomorrow. Living in my car would be more peaceful than this shit.
Ima take some Benadryl and try to get some more sleep.
Hmmmm, so are any of these symptoms the reason WOWCrackRooomate isn’t with his ex any more? He sounds like he needs to grow up.
Glad the SIL is coming up with pleasant surprises, FCM.
Argh…need to be out of here in the next 1/2 hour or so.
Off to finish waking up and get ready to go…

Hi all. Today is not much better than yesterday.
Yesterday, hubby had a hissy fit at me because I went out shopping with a friend for two (yes, 2) whole hours while he stayed at home with HRH. The main reason for the hissy fit was because I didn’t cook him any lunch before I left. I told him to order something and he hung up on me!
Then, this morning some a$$hat didn’t notice my car in front of his as he tried to merge into traffic, through me! Frackin’ son of a motherless bass-ackwards goat! So I didn’t end up going to work, since half the morning was taken up with police reports and insurance paperwork, plus I just didn’t feel like it.
I am about to go upstaurs and get ready for my interview now (it’s in about 1h20mins time). Gotta run - hopefully the rest of today will be better!!!
MBG…
DON’T FORGET TO GO TO THE LIBRARY AND PICK UP YOUR BOOK!!!
Perhaps a subtle reminder will work.
Speakin’ of libraries, I am reminded of summer readin’ experiences of my youth. Two nice segues there… the second from an earlier post by rigs about enrollin’ her son in a summer readin’ program. My folks got us into summer programs every summer when we were kidlets. I always enjoyed it. Durin’ the summer between fifth and sixth grades, I was named Book King because I was the boy who read the most books that summer. Somewhere, probably in the attic at mom’s there’s a picture of me and Book Queen wearing crowns and holdin’ up certificates proclaimin’ us as Book King and Queen. Weird memory, huh? The thing about that program was, not only did you have to read each book, you had to tell a librarian what the book was about and write a paragraph in your folder about the book. Smaller kidlets just had to tell but everyone eight and older had to write also. I’m sure at the time I hated to do the writin’ but as I look back on it that was a good thing cause in order to tell about the book one had to actually read it first.
Ok, now that was rambly!
Off to prod ol’ y’all know who to get ready for churchification. He’s only been up a few minutes. Today is Fr. Jim’s last Sunday. Like I told him again yesterday, I am happy for him and his wife but I don’t like it one bit.
Ok, off to prod and churchify.
Later Y’all!
OOH! And we have a lunch invite, so no cookin’ for me. YAY!!!
Morning, all. Yay for the Bar Mitzvah Boy – I knew he’d be wonderful! Assorted other hugs, yays, boos, wet trout upside heads, etc. as appropriate. I have to finish that transcript now so I can get my new 'puter set up – I tried to get it done last night but when I found my eyes drifting shut, I realized it wasn’t going to happen.
So hopefully when I come back, bring new 'puter!
Finally getting started here. About 4:30 this morning I woke up both feeling nauseuous and having to run to the bathroom. I moved to the couch because I didn’t want to wake up TVMan with repeated trips. He finally woke up around 8 a.m. and I went back to bed, just waking up a few minutes ago. Now I have to make my grocery list for the day and contemplate shopping. My favorite activity on earth.
Good morning, MMP!
I’m doing better every day, but it sucks that I have to go back to work. I received a card in the mail from my co-workers yesterday. They are so sweet! I’m going to pick up a thank you card when I do the grocery shopping today.
Not much to say - I’m gonna go surf.
Mwah!
Job interview went well. If it goes as well as I think, I will have 2 further interviews - one with the COO and one with a couple of the EVPs from the bank. The good thing is they move fast, so if it really does work out, I could have an offer within 2 weeks! Finger crossed!!!
I’ma go forage for dindins now!
I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you Dotty.
I was never enrolled in any summer reading programs, but then again, my mother didn’t need to prod me to read. I read voraciously. In fact, I read so much that she’d get annoyed with me because I wasn’t doing my chores. I can remember putting a chaise lounge lawnchair under our big apple tree, getting a stack of books, and happily planting myself there for the entire day. It was nice.
I was however enrolled in summer camps every year until I was about 14 or 15. I loved summer camp. Why can’t they have that for grown-ups?
I knew your son would do great, Soapy.
Today we are definitely going to work out. Mr. Taters was feeling too hungover to work out yesterday, so we’re making it up today. I would have gone on my own, but there was too much to do yesterday.
I should scramble an egg or something so I have some fuel to work from at the workout today.
It worked! Confetti for you!

Note: “Little bastard on the couch” refers to Mr. My Cellphone Is More Important Than Burning. Have educational cutbacks been that bad? Can they no longer teach fire safety in elementary schools?
Glad the mitzvah went well, Soapy. Take yourself out to relax from it.
So, Wife and I were getting ready for dinner last night when I realized I hadn’t thawed out the steaks I was going to grill. Ah crap. Earlier in the day she’d been watching some Food Network show about meatballs, and said she’d been kind of jonesing for some Eye-talian all day anyway. One of these places is right down the road a bit from us, and we’d been meaning to go, so off we went. We copped a table in the bar and stuffed our faces.
I mean, seriously stuffed our faces. She had something parmigiana, I went for the roasted duck with figs in a port wine reduction and some corn/pudding-ish thing. Then I offered to have the chef’s children. ![]()
So, now I am caffeinated, fed and about to head to get my library book.
I checked my account on the library web site to see which of the books I have requested is being held, and found it was this . Sounds good, but I have no memory at all of asking for it. Sounds like drunk book searching to me. Maybe something someone at Goodreads read and I saw there.
Oh, and some weed killer. It’s nice living with a cornfield in your backyard, but every damn thing that blows in takes root in my backyard. It’s time to kill some thistle. Death to thistle.
I wish I had killer weed.
Same difference, right?
Mazel tov to SoapySon! I’m sure you all were just bursting with pride.
To celebrate my upcoming birthday, The Boy took me out for dinner and a show yesterday. And not just ANY ol’ show… nope, we completely nerded out. Behold, the nerdiest thing evor to hit the Toronto Symphony, Star Trek!! It was tons of fun.
And yes, LOTS of people showed up in Starfleet uniforms.
Hi all! No time to catch up now…So, please refer to Rosie’s Sig for appropriate comments.
I’m currently at my Mother’s house in The Middle of Frickin’ Nowhere. It has a nice view of the cornfields, if you like looking at that kind of thing.
Later 'gators!
