Hello from the tropics!

Isn’t this part of the world just deee-lite-ful this time of year?

Special fun-for-all is looking in the papers and reading the temperature stats for the NA continent.

(raises drink containing dangerous amounts of fruit juices and rum) Enjoy your time in Quisqueya la bella, Brick.

 ← representation of avg. Northern vacationer in the islands, including approximate color of face after a few days in sunshine.

There’s no sub freezing temps here in DC, you must have taken them with you. Yesterday was a great day, too bad I had to work.

I’ll win, my dear. When I regain consciousness I’ll eat the grapefruit, but you’ll still be squirming from the snowball I stuffed right into the center of your blankets.

SparrowHawk, still love your name anyway, even though I was completely wrong.

Excuse me, I didn’t quite hear you. I was too busy making myself a sea breeze with one of those grapefruit to sip while I relax poolside. It’s 75, which isn’t too cold, as long as the breeze doesn’t kick up.

He’s yanking your chain, sweetie. It’s gray and drizzling out and probably in the mid-high 60s right now, although it is supposed to get to 70 today. He probably is drinking a sea breeze just before lunch, though.

You are making yourself a sea breeze with a grapefruit?

Man, I guess *some * cold weather’s good for you.

:reads **Shib’s ** post: Oh, a sea breeze is a drink? Shouldn’t it be Sea Breeze?

And actually, Shib, it’s not too bad here. About 50 degrees today, little rain, but that I can deal with.

To be fair, it was very nice here yesterday. And I picked up about five pounds of stone crab claws and we had a nice little pre-Christmas feast at my folk’s house.

Well, I’ll be traveling to Denver from Tampa tomorrow. I just looked at the weather. It is currently 66 degrees here in Tampa. I am walking around in a t-shirt and shorts. Denver is 3 degrees. All I have are shorts. Guess I’d better get the stores today and pick up some pants and sweaters.

I can’t beleive I didn’t think about this sooner.

Be sure to have a few bottles of El Presidente, the local beer. Was there last month and it is indeed paradise.

Enjoy!

And I would’ve gotten away with it too, if not for that meddling ShibbOleth!

Eshcuse me , shur, I rezhent the imp.lic…implic… what yoou’re trying to shay. I’m actually pulling out and heading for work in a couple. I have to supervise the front end of my store, today and tomorrow. We sell groceries. Pray for me.

Oh, and Amp, I said something similar to a co-worker. He flew to Michigan yesterday, because his family got it backwards – they didn’t realize that they’re supposed to come here, not the other way around, and he’s got nothing but t-shirts and shorts, and thin, summer jeans. Poor kid.

I for one think it’s totally appropriate to arrest this guy, bury him up to his waist and stone him to death.*

Thread paybacks

I just saw a snow flake!! Actual snow flake! And that was it. Done. One of the few joys of living here. Snow never stays.

Hope **Bricker ** has lots of snow. Or frozen margaritas. Whichever.

The snow from the DR is a little different than the snow in AL. Heh.

Having just returned from the Caribbean two weeks ago, (ah, St. Maarten!) I am so jealous!
Enjoy yourself Bricker. We’ll expect a full trip report on your return.

(No, seriously, Mrs. Jockey and I are considering a trip there, and we’d love to know what you thought)

My Wife and I and 12 friends went the Dominican Rep last Feb. Great time, although the seas where too rough for diving. And 10 of the 12 of us got sick from the food/water/icecubes in drinks.

Well really, even with getting sick, we had a real good time.

:sigh: It’s been -21f degrees for two nights in a row here. We live in a passive solar house and really depend on the sun. Usually, this is easy to do in Colorado, it’s usually sunny here.

Usually…

For the last 4 days it’s been cloudy during the day, clear at night. It’s now a whopping 50f inside our house. Our propane (heating) stove (44,000 btu) just can’t keep up. At least we don’t heat with wood anymore.

Have fun Bricker, give us a report when you get back.

Wow, we Tampa Bay area Dopers are cruel bunch.

But fair.

LOL!!

Apart from a particular gorgeous chica that would become Mrs. Bricker, this island’s best export is Presidente. I love it.

And I won RD$7,100 at the casino last night!!

Fer Pete’s sake, Bricker, you don’t need to check in here while you’re on holiday. Get back in your lounge chair!

In lounge chair, at my in-law’s house… with laptop on my chest and a wireless high-speed connection going!!

It’s all good…

Huh, I live in tropical South Florida, and I’m flying to North Carolina this evening for Christmas.
