I can’t believe I can’t find this song with the information I have. I was at this place and part of this song looped over the PA. I’m pretty positive these lyrics are Correct:

It was a cabaret,
down in the islands
???
???
lovers were praying bodies were swaying
you may be the one for me
love is all around
searching for common ground

The words are in English (obviously) but the singer might not be. The song as a whole has a middle eastern feel.
The solo seemed to be a violin but sounded like an oboe.
The whole song had a slurry feel - or maybe it was a bad recording?

Yes, thank you, that’s it. I missed it because the only part I knew was the center section and the beginning has a different sound.

Unfortunately so. Joss Stone, Mick Jagger and Jr. Gong (a.k.a. Damian Marley, youngest son of Bob) are the singers here, with Mick notably worse than the other two.
