I’m either going senile, or the Intertubes are conspiring against me. I cannot find the name of this movie, despite hours of searching.
The synopsis of the plot: an elderly woman commits suicide by handgun after laying in bed with her favorite, very valuable locket/necklace. The jewelry had been given to her years ago by her late husband, but later in the movie was revealed to be near-worthless. Daughter #1, upon finding her, makes things appear to be a murder to avoid embarrassment. Suspicion falls on an older black man that had been with the family for years. Daughter #1 also is very domineering and controlling over daughter #2. It’s a comedy, of course.
I believe daughter #3 was played by Parker Posey; a mechanic that recently returned to town and reconnected with her ex-beau, a local cop.
I was pretty confident that indeed it was Parker Posey, but a search of her filmography doesn’t turn up a movie that sounds similar.
The film is somewhat-recent; let’s say roughly 1995-2005.
I’m really going nuts trying to find the name of this film. Either I can’t search worth squat, or I’m conflating two films together.
