Help, I've run out of things to do in GTA3 (not VC)

Well I’ve just about done it all, played with the cheats (after beating the missions)…

I just need something interesting to do.

Any suggestions?

I used to be vaguely amused by jumping on to the metro tracks (the overhead ones) and using it as a platform for some serious firepower-fuelled chaos.

I’ve beaten the “storyline missions” and now, I’m going to go back and do the Rampages and Off-roads. I also want to become somewhat proficient at the Dodo.

If you haven’t done so, you might:

  1. Do all the Rampages
  2. Collect all the Packages
  3. Learn to fly the Dodo
  4. Fill the Import/Export Garages
  5. Do the required number of Paramedic Missions
  6. Do the required number of Vigilante Missions
  7. Do the required number of Fire Truck Missions
  8. Do the required number of Taxi Missions
  9. Do the Offroad Missions
  10. Improve your racing times

…or just…

  1. Buy Vice City

Complete every special vehicle mission, find every package, do every unique jump, finish every rampage, finish both import/export garages and the emergency vehicle crane, do all the off-road missions, and do it all without cheating.

I’m almost there - just the off-road missions and a few storyline missions to go.

Then you can just amuse yourself by driving around town in a tank. Or find good, high, defensible places where the cops can’t get to you and you can rain down death and destruction from.

Been to the observatory yet? I’m still not good enough with flying the Dodo to get there.

Vice City won’t be out for the PC for a while yet, sadly.

I have flown the dodo for 14 seconds… I’m still working on that. I didn’t know you could get to the observatory, what is there?

I managed to fly the Dodo to Staunton in a straight line.

If you go straight down the main runway, you should end up on the street in Staunton that takes you to the bridge to Portland. However, you need to fly over the billboards on the western shore of Staunton.

I am reading flying tips on the web.

Once you’ve got the Dodo moving on the runway, switch to side view using L1. Then, once in the air, keep the nose of the Dodo parallel to the land/water. The problem is, you can’t see where you’re going if you keep this view, and you will hit those billboards on Staunton if you’re too low.

What is L1?

You’re not done until you have 100,000 kills!!!
(and i haven’t even beat the storyline, one mission to go, and it was abandoned for Vice City)

oops! Are you playing on a pc? Seems as though we have a pc/ps2 mix here…

Anyway, I have Vice City for the PS2, but before I got that, I had a great time filling up the import shops. Never did find that ice-cream truck though…any suggestions?

Another favorite thing to do is run around for as long as possible with as high a wanted level as possible…no cheats, no tanks. You can find yourself in some seriously hairy situations that way, and it’ll bring some new adrenaline into your gameplay.

On the FACE of the controller, left side, there is a keypad with up, down, left, and right keys next to the joystick.

Going up fron the “up” button on the keypad, you will find two buttons on TOP of the controller.

These buttons are L1 and L2.

There are two similarly placed buttons on TOP of the controller, right side, namely R1 and R2.

If you are in a vehicle, the game default is to look straight ahead from behind the vehicle. You can use R1 and L1 to view the scene from the right and left, respectively.

Press R1 and L1 simultaneously to look to the rear.

Usually a few vigillantie criminals have them. ram him into a wall, then jack him and drive off. That is how i got it. Or just steal the one from the Diablo mission with the Ice Cream Truck.

oops! I didn’t even think of PC controllers being different from PS2.

I don’t know PC controls. Sorry!

:smack:

To get the ice cream truck, just keep playing fire truck missions until one pops up ablaze.

Oh, yeah. Didn’t occur to me that you might be talking about a console.

I was all proud 'cause I flew the dodo for 3 seconds! :wally

The problem with a high wanted level is you can’t get anywhere 'cause the damn cops keep ramming you.

That’s how I found the ICT Bear.

My record for Dodo flight is 26 seconds, though I suppose you could call me on that because I took off from the Callahan Bridge (the ground left me, instead of vice versa).

I’m finished with the storyline missions (though that stupid Burro one with the porn van is still there - Impossible!), so I cruise around looking for the jumps or going on Vigliante and taxi runs. You can always replay the Toyz games, and the carnage is pretty amusing when you start messing around with the little RC cars.

I’ve given up on the fire truck because I sat and watched my brother play at it for over an hour straight (52 fires) and get nothing. At least Vigilante gave me a bribe when I passed 10…
And my Custom Station of “Yakity Sax” and “Strong Bad Techno” is the perfect soundtrack to a police chase.

BraheSilver,

  1. Fire Truck Missions: If you do 10 missions (or is it 20?) on EACH ISLAND, you will get the flame thrower at your hideout.

  2. That porn van mission is the WORST, but not impossible. Keep at it, and you should gain ground each time you try it as you begin to memorize the course. Note how far you get each time before you can hear the clock start ticking down. I think when I finally passed the mission, I didn’t hear the clock start ticking until I was up on top of the hill in St. Marks. Also, a big part of it is how lucky you get because sometimes you can get pretty far before some jackass gets his car in your way.

As a guide, you will begin in Hepburn Heights, go up the hill in St. Marks, go down the hill to the Red Light District, hang a left to Chinatown, swing around that little diner in front of the hospital, go down to the Boardwalk area, hang a left and end up near the docks near the Import/Export Garage. IIRC, when you get there, the clock will go away and you can finish the mission without a time limit.
