I can’t decide if they are creepy and weird or cool and creative. The strangely enchanting theme song and the half-animated kids throw me all off kilter every time it’s on TV…yet I can’t look away.
Um, aren’t these just froot loops?
Creepy. The whole damn thing falls straight to the bottom of the Uncanny Valley.
The “strangely enchanting theme song” is Happiness Runs by Donovan. I believe the version which plays during the version of the ad which runs during adult-oriented programming is the original recording, and the kids’ show-version is a new, hard-rock style version.
Fruity Cheerios are not just General Mills’s answer to Froot Loops- they’re actually fruit-flavored Cheerios. They actually taste pretty good. A Cheerio is much smaller than a Froot Loop is.
Hold on a second!
Fruit flavored Cheerios?
Ain’t that what we called Fruit Loops?
I have tried the Fruity Cheerios, so I must weigh in.
They don’t seem too good to me. I love Cheerios, and I love Fruit Loops. But this new cereal is neither.
Imagine having a bowl of cereal, half of which is ordinary Cheerios, and half of which is Fruit Loops. The sugariness and fruitiness of the Fruit Loops, it seems to me, clashes with the graininess of the Cheerios.
For a different view, imagine biting into a strawberry Pop Tart on top of a slice of whole grain bread. Both of them are great by themselves, but together, they don’t really mesh.
I hasten to add two things.

If I wasn’t too clear, the new Fruity Cheerios taste like the combo of ordinary Cheerios + Fruit Loops.

I haven’t seen the ad yet.
