I don’t remember her name but I believe it is only one word. Atleast that is what I can remember about it from seeing her album. The album in question was released sometime this year but I don’t know about when. It just shows her face on the cover and it appears to be under a broken glass or something cracked. I really can’t remember much of it except that it only shows her face/ neck up. I also think her name starts with an M. I thought it was something like Millan or Mille or Michelle but none of those searches have provided much help.

Could you have possibly got the nationality wrong? Mariza is Portuguese (the album Transparente might vaguely match your description) and she sings in the Fado tradition. Even if it isn’t what you remembered, I recommend her music: her voice is unbelievably beautiful.
I guess it was like French Pop. None of the above are it, thanks though. She is white and I think with blue eyes. Brownish to dirty blone hair.
I know a little bit of french but some of what she was singing wasn’t words. It was almost noises. She did do lyrical songs, just not all of them were. If that makes any sense. I saw it just a few months ago… but I just can’t remember the name.
now that I remember it, I think the title of the album had something to do with being broken or torn or split. Something like that. For some reason I’m getting the notion that “the piece of glass being broken or split” has some relavence with the title. Arg…
