RTFirefly - I’m definitely a book person. I’m about 100 pages into a 600 page book so I’m all set to read a good 500 pages this weekend. I love sitting in the tub and reading so that is definitely a must.
Scout1222 - Living alone definitely has major perks. I’m looking forward to enjoying all of them this weekend. Dude, I can masturbate at the drop of a hat, when the urge hits.
Unclebeer - I did the guacamole and margarita thing last night. Only I messed up and bathed in the margaritas and drank the guacamole. Tequila burns.
LolaCocaCola - Porn! CHECK! “Open up and say Ahhhhh” I played Max Payne earlier in the year. EXCELLENT. My kind of game.
Meatros- I bow down to your Joey Tribiani like wisdom.
All I’m saying is Go sloth and Go home. If you are going to sloth, do it right.
If you do it right, truely decadent laziness can be a beautiful thing indeed.
And I’ll have you know that pizza will keep for a few days without any refridgeration (I know from personal discovery of 4 day old pizza behind the couch).
Also for the truly professional sloth, the Oasis, a must! The only thing that it doesn’t include is a toilet. http://render.lazboy.com/lazboyxsl/furniture.asp
I think you’ve got enough suggestions for a great weekend, so I’m just going to clarrify on the Battle Royale movie for you. It takes place in the not too distant future of Japan, where adults are terrified of the unruly youth. The economy’s collapsed, so they’ve hit a rather 70’s Great Britain kind of “No future” mentality, and this frightens a lot of people. So, the government enacts the “Battle Royale Act,” where once a year, a class is hijacked, taken to a remote island, and the students are forced to kill each other off until there’s only one left alive.
It’s a really good movie, but for a day like you’re planning, not quite the right mindset.
Tampopo a great japanese movie (with sub titles). You won’t regret it.
And if you’re naked you can spill food on yourself and just lick it off (depending on where the spill is) no laundry! Life is good.
I’m getting a divorce soon and will be moving to a new place all my own. I’m looking forward to a weekend exactly as you describe. Please give us the details when the weekend’s out.
I think Tampopo and Battle Royale both sound good. Are these movies that I could find in a Hollywood Video or Blockbuster foreign movie section?
VelvetJones, I recently split from someone and just moved into the new place on Saturday. By the end of Sunday, I had completely unpacked. I spent 5 hours cleaning the old place and all that jazz and so this weekend is going to be just that much more sweet, having it all behind me. You are going to absolutely love your peace, quiet, autonomy and all that good stuff.
I should clarify, though - sometimes, peace and quiet and all that good stuff is made even better with someone special. We just need to find that right one!
Well, if you’re looking for something silly/stupid this weekend and you don’t mind anime, I’d suggest you go look for a copy of Elf Princess Rane… My only stipulation is that you keep it on Japanese with English subtitles and keep the remote in your hand to stop when you see subtitles that don’t make much sense… they’re actually sentences backwards, and they’re freakin’ hillarious. This is an anime I would love to get in my collection.
I’m going to buck the trend and say… slack with class and elegance. Get a copy of Gourmet magazine, find something decadent and complicated, and use your kitchen to cook it. Put a cloth on the table. Candles. The whole bit (who cares that you’re alone? That just means leftover yumminess).
Take a nice long walk with your thoughts. Watch the squirrels.
Go to the library, and check out a couple of books to read.
Take a long bath. Give yourself a foot loofah.
Use the DVD player sparingly- remember, time flies when you’re watching TV, and your vacation will last longer if you are relaxing in other ways. If you really must, take an evening, buy a pint of overpriced gourmet ice cream, and watch “Much Ado About Nothing.”
I know, my idea isn’t going to be the one you pick, but doesn’t it sound like a nice change?
Well, now, FisherQueen, the things you mentioned are things I more or less do all the time. I never eat pre-packaged food. I cook every single night, I don’t watch that much TV (though American Idol has me hooked), and I don’t really allow myself to be completely lazy. I walk through the neighboring park every morning and look at squirrels and dogs. I have probably had all of 10 beers in the last year. I jog and swim about 5 times a week. I get “Cooks Illustrated” and try a recipe out of it probably 1-2 a week. I’m tired of all of that.
The “nice change” part is going to be that I am going to let my concerns and worries go. I am going to be lazy, just downright lazy.
My lifestyle is pretty close to what you described (when I have free time) which is why this kid is not going to revolt this weekend.
Mini-tacos! Can’t believe I forgot the mini-tacos. Those, along with guacamole, may sustain human life almost indefinitely.
Orgazmo and the Matrix also proved entertaining fare this afternoon, and segued nicely into a nap. Now to have some Imperial Rolls , work out, then watch the X-Files movie with some bourbon.
Hell, Tibs, c’mon up to Madison and hang out with me! It’s the last weekend the pool is open. I got DVD with six speaker surround, two of the most comfortable chairs on earth, a liquor store, deli and chinese restaurant in the apartment complex.
Otherwise, I reccommend eating M&Ms all weekend looking for the all-blue bag.
Meatros knock yerself out. This is the first time I’ve been asked this. I’m just tingly all over.
Going to be with friends this weekend. We’re going to hang out at their pool, drink beer, grill all kinds of stuff and play with three very rambunctious yellow labs. Can’t wait!
Tiburon, enjoy your weekend of sloth and gluttony.
Meatros, I’d be honored to be quoted in a sig line! Ummmm…which quote do you mean?
yojimboyguy, hell, that’s a great offer! I’ll be staying home this weekend, though. But I’ll be coming to Madison again because my cousin is starting college there this week! Woo!
This weekend must happen for my mental well being and last night, I talked to my mother (who I will see next weekend and she said, “Maybe we’ll come visit you this long weekend!” I dig my parents but I doubt they’ll be into the gluttony factor.
Oh! The Joey Tribiani quote - Yeah! Definitely. You are my gluttony and sloth idol. Too bad Fox doesn’t have an American Gluttony and Sloth Idols competition. You’d be in like Flynn.
Thanks peoples! Incidently their is a use for those electronic “shock” abdominal workout machines. Strap 'em on so that they shock your muscles to get your blood flowing…Then you don’t even have to move.
