Help! Things a bear likes to eat

The background: I have been in a dinner club for about two years. We meet monthly, with hostess and theme rotating. If you host, then you choose the theme and prepare the main course and sides. Cocktail, appetizer and dessert are brought by the other three members. We have done French, Greek, Indian, Thai, Southern Soul Food, lots of great things.

The problem: This month is “Things a bear likes to eat”. Fantastic theme, no ideas.

I have to bring dessert.

For the first time, I am at a loss. So, I turn to the experts.

What should I make?

The cook: I am a confident cook, with a reasonably well-equipped kitchen. I have all day Saturday to do this for Saturday night. In theory, I could also do some of it Friday night if needs be (something needs to sit overnight, etc). There are great grocery stores in town with a wide selection. Shopping should not be too much of an issue.

Help me, Cafe Society, you’re my only hope.

At least the smarter ones do…

Make either blueberry cobbler or honey sticks.

Those really fancy running shoes, according to one report.

Many bears have a thing for salmon. Many people do too.

Okay, blueberry cobbler I know, what are honey sticks?

Even if I could think of a dessert that featured salmon, I don’t think it’s a good idea as the main dish is going to be salmon-centric.

If you could find a recipe that uses honey and berries, you’d be golden!

ETA: Here’s a whole page of honey dessert recipes, some of which use berries.

Chocolate Honey Bee Cake. It turned out well when I made it.

I was thinking of the sesame-honey candies, but it appears that “honey stick” usually means a straw filled with honey.

I’d go with the cobbler.

That looks delicious! We may have a winner. Thank you so much, everyone!

You should, if at all possible, pack the whole thing in a pic-a-nic basket. It would be perfect.

I think I am going to do this. The dinner club crowd will love it.
