Lying in my hospital bed, waiting for my surgery. Everything has been going so smoothly, I feel like I’m waiting for the other shoe to drop, and they send me home without doing it.
Week 3, day 1, still no work to do. So I read all day. Then came out to big ball of fire in sky! We’re promised nice weather all week - at least until Firday night.
**FCD **doesn’t want supper so we’ll grab whatever, whenever.
Meanwhile, I’ve cleaned the kitteh fountain and watered my houseplants. So chillage shall ensue. I should probably empty the dishwasher. Mostly, I plan to veg today.
Woke up at 4 am to massive migraine. Called the vet’s message machine and cancelled animal checkups for today. Got kids off to school and then hid in dark room for hours. Trying coffee and toast now. Monday is a mean one this week.
Dad good luck with surgery.
Good luck, dad!
Feel better, sunny.
I’m going to restart my current refugee scarf with a bigger hook. I don’t like the way it’s coming out with the I size.
Chili ‘n corn bread hit the spot. Must have been what I was cravin’. 'Tis dreary and icky out so good choice.
DAAAAAAAAAAD good luck with the surgery and have a quick recovery.
{{{sunny}}} hope the migraine is better.
Time to veg. MWAH!!
Home, tired, loving on Louie. Dinner will scrounge whatever. The housekeeper came today bless her heart.
Good luck Dad, feel better Sunny and Red check in. We are worried.
I took the couch cushions apart today and washed them. I don’t know about putting them in the dryer though. I have new foam to stuff them, I’m not paying somebody else to stuff them at $78 each. The new foam is firmer so it should be easier to get out of the couch.

I survived, butters!
Pain pills, tomato soup and yogurt for supper.
Happy Monday mmper friends! After venturing forth yesterday to Costco, today I am feeling much blurf. I fell asleep at the computer after taking two of the new melatonin with valerian caps I bought, usually neither of the two do much for me, but apparently the combination is the key. I woke up at 1:00 and climbed into bed, only to have my call of nature come at 5:30. I did my best to stay up and be functional, but I failed and ended up napping. It’s 4:30 pm now, and the sky is blue and the big ball of fire is burning behind the curtain I am facing. I have the window open and can hear the jays arguing with each other over the peanuts I found at Costco.
For those who may not know (and who may care) I have moved back to the town I went to high school in, and I prefer to take the back road when I have to head north for any reason. This is the road the bus I rode to and from school in took, and one of the roads my friends and I used to roam on. I remember there was a girl, Maryann, who rode the same bus as I. She was very quiet and shy, but we were friendly. Her house, where she was picked up and droppd off at, had a huge sign with Christ Died For Your Sins and some other stuff on it. She took a lot of teasing at school for that, and I felt badly for her. During the summer into the fall there was also a produce stand in the driveway. The house, sign and little produce stand are still there, and we stopped on the way home. There were big pumpkins for $3.00 each, and big bunches of dahlias for $5.00 each, so we got three of each, and paid for them by leaving the money in a small box on the stand. When I got home and divided the flowers I ended up with four big vases full of dahlias, all in colors I don’t have (yet) in my own garden, so what a deal! I am going to write a note asking after Maryann and leave it in the money box at the stand.
In other news, my son is still in Alaska working at a cannery. He is waiting to do king crab and then, after a week in Kodiak to visit his friends he will be home for Christmas. My aunt broke her hip this summer, and I took care of her dogs for her. As she was recuperating she realized that there was no way she was going to be able to keep up with her most recent rescue dog, so guess who now has added a papillon to the two pomeranian pack. More on him soon, and yes, with photos.
So, I have jumped back in the MMP, I will endeavor to remember my way here! Now, what to have for supper?
Welcome back wiki! {hugs}
I have relatives who are friends of Nikita Khrushchev’s family; I can always get you the odd shoe if you want. Those are more for pounding than dropping though.
Dinner was steak cooked in a red-hot cast iron skillet and it was to die for. In fact, if you open your windows and listen carefully you may be able to hear the sound of my arteries hardening.
Thanks for the well wishes all. You guys are awesome!
Tonight we are having tri-tip marinated in my own secret recipe, and bbq’ed. With mashed N.O.T. and corn.
Today I have accomplished the washing of sheets! I paid two (2) bills! Oh, the insanity! Tomorrow perhaps paperwork. And more laundry. I may even get to spreading grass seed.
Out of recovery and back in my room. Incision is stinging a little, and the joint aches a bit.
Daughter is checking traffic monitoring site to optimize her drive home with her mother.
Famished. But at least they’ve brought me a pitcher of ice water
I worked, all the technology broke, I stood around, I went home, I napped. The sinus is really slowing me down apparently.
Heck, you’re on The List of at least 3 Stone Age Amazon tribes.
Glad you’re OK, red.

Welcome back, wiki! : tacklehug :
I read that as tri-tip martini. Hmmm, might not be bad as I have a recipe for Tenn Flank Steak; the main ingredients in the marinade are Jim Beam* & garlic.
- Yes, I know Jim Beam is from KY, but I didn’t make the recipe up.
How do we get recipes added to the blog?
Tennessee Flank Steak
Flank steak
__ cloves of garlic [sup][/sup]
2 tsp dry mustard
[del]¼[/del] [del]½[/del] ¾ cup bourbon [sup][/sup]
2 tbl unsalted butter (optional)
Salt & pepper, to taste (optional)
Score the flank steak on each side 1/8" deep in a diamond pattern & place in a glass dish.
[sup][/sup] Taste the bourbon to make sure it’s okay.
Original recipe calls for ¼ cup, I usually put in a little more than that, about ⅓ cup.
Mash the garlic [sup][/sup] Original recipe calls for just one clove. Oh Hell no! That’s such an itty-bitty amount; at least 3 or 4! & mustard w/ the back of a spoon & stir in the bourbon.
Pour over steak & refrigerate overnight, turning several times.
Pull out & let warm to room temp.
Grill to desired doneness, dotting the edges with (optional) butter.
Carve the steak across the grain ¼" thick.
Spidery You know you made that recipe up. GARDENTRAVELER is the blog lady.
Glad Dad and Red and Sunny are on the mend. Good to see Wiki.
Our microwave died. Went out in a blaze of glory. Well, arcing and sparking anyway. Was a free microid, as we called it. Like Red I had to use pots to warm my dinner.
For the record: I make the best potato salad ever, even if I do say so myself.
Bourbon? If it’s Tennessee Flank Steak, you need to use Tennessee sippin’ whiskey.
All that bourbon
Reminds me of the time I used grandma’s bourbon ball recipe
I had this gloppy, soppy mess that would not shape into balls. I kept adding more and more dry ingredients. The I looked up another recipe and saw that grandma had doubled the amount of bourbon.
They were yummy though, maybe I’ll make some this year.
Missed the dinner bell, but had a very tasty roast beast sammich and bowl of beef barley soup. Pain level holding at 0/10, which is good. Disappointed that no one has asked “are you comfortable?”
You know, so I can say “Meh. I make a living.” That’s half the reason I elected to do this thing.
