Been a curious day.
The whole office (in Sydney, Australia) had that subdued “death in the extended family” atmosphere.
The Boss, not a man to suffer fools gladly, observed that he was as if not more upset that Trump won as he had been when his beloved Sydney Swans had been badly belted in the AFL Grand Final last month.
Then some UK based swindler tried to put a charge onto my credit card. It tripped my banks fraudulent transaction protocols so the expense has been blocked, which is good. Along with the card which is ungood, as it needs to be reissued and will take a couple of days. Lucky I don’t need groceries or utility bills paid in that period.
Then there was a localised rain squall just as I got home which means this mornings load of washing needs to stay in the clothes line another 24 hours.
But, but, BUT on the patio waiting for me is a well packed box from Brookfield, IL.

Excellent items and invoking poignant memories of a long road trip and a perfectly cromulent microDopefest in the middle.
The Packers glass is christened with Buffalo Trace as I type.

I have just received a great package from the Oregon Coast! Some very nice Oregon shotglasses, a great (and surprisingly timely, as I had just lost mine) bottle opener, a toothpick case, some awesome keychains, fridge magnet, and some sweets that I am going to be positively wrecking soon. Shoeless dispatched a cornucopia of Jayhawk delights: two shot glasses (the original Jayhawk mascot and a truly bitchin’ shot glass from the White Star Line found in his FIL’s house.) Plus some fridge magnets (the Everest one I’m taking to heart), a desktop “Build Your Own” Stonehenge and he doen’t know it yet but a very nice Armenian brandy to christen the glasses with.

Speaking as a dyed-in-the-wool Titanic buff, if you could post a pic I would be eternally grateful. Just knowing that exists makes me giddy.
Just to elaborate on this, the magnet has a picture of Everest with the caption “All of those dead bodies on Mt. Everest were once highly motivated people. So maybe just calm down.”

I have finally put my package together having picked up some stuff. I can’t send alcohol across the Pond, they really frown on it, but I’ve put some stuff in and it’ll get sent tomorrow hopefully, if I can divert from work to the post office!
According to UPS, my package (which was originally supposed to arrive last week…) will finally reach its destination in Tennessee this afternoon!
