With cans? I had believed it to be done only with bottles.
EmilyG’s in Canada, but here in California, I cash in soda cans regularly (well, when I get around to taking them to the recycle place, that is).
Seems a bit silly to spend as much time traveling as I’m going to today just for a four-hour shift, but that’s life. Must do homework after paid irk, since all three of my classes have stuff coming due Sunday night.
Some places (and some in Canadadada) are really “Green” like that. I’ve hit a few places in my wanderings that will do both cans and bottles.
Because technically you aren’t allowed alcohol in state forests, after our history event the one guy hauls all the bagged empties home for the recycling pick-up in his community. I’ve often wondered what his neighbors think; here his house is all quiet and everything for five days and the following Tuesday is 5-8 really large recycling bags of every imaginable form of booze empties from beer to Yukon Jack. Gotta be some heads turned here and there.
So far the track of Erika is dead on us. Please please let her survive the trip through the DR and Haiti. We need this storm.
Should I go buy French Toast makings?
It’s things like this that make me wish we were at least on a first name basis with the people across the street as they go through a lot of beer in the man-cave, err, garage. They just toss the empties into their recycle bin, thus throwing away all that CRV.
I’m not really familiar with man-caves to begin with…theirs looks like it would be at the far bottom end of the spectrum - a TV with some random chairs around it in the front corner of the garage. The rest of the garage is filled with the lawnmower, bikes, piles and trash bags of stuff - probably old toys and kids’ clothes for all I know.
When I was but a Spider(relatively)youngster, I dated a girl in another state. Once a month before I’d go there, I’d take the big trashbag of recycling cans from an organization I belonged to & throw them in the back of the car. We were a recycling state, but she was in a deposit state. For hauling a couple pounds of already collected & bagged aluminum to the store I’d get a free (or almost) free six-pack for the weekend.
How much of a drought are you in that you not only need rain but want it to come in ::♪ dun, dun, dun ♪♫ ::  Tropical Storm  format?
The fridge is gone, and **FCD **might be getting some motorcycle work from the guy who took it. We’ve run some errands and he’s futzing in the garage right now. I’m about to assume the knit position. So much for yard work…
Ugh karate kid marathon on TV.
When I lived in the city I hated the karate kid. Every time one of those movies played I’d lose more than a few boards of my privacy fence from the neighborhood kids kicking them.
I hope you get your rain Butters
It’s gonna snow in the Keys?:dubious:
Laundry is done, dishes are done, more beer was bought.
There must be something in the air - I got an email from another headhunter for another drafting job. That’s 2 in a week! Of course, neither may even result in an interview, but we shall see…
Howdy Y’all! Had a bzzy day today which is fine by me. I like bzzy if I’m irkin’. Even from da cave. Anywho irk is over for the week. YAY! I grilled some burgers for dindin and they were gooooooood!
I agreed to ush at Dave’s funeral tomorrow. They are havin’ a visitation from one until two. This means I need to be there around 12:45 p.m. to assist there as well. Rah.
OK, that’s all I got for now. I shall surf teh intartoobz for a while.
flytrap, when I lived in Indiana, we’d take marked cans across the line to Michigan, where the deposit return was more than what you got at the recycling center.
I’m finally home. The four hours tha4i irked were productive, but I still hav a metric shit ton to finish Monday. I’ll be glad when month end is over.
Time to recline and knit - I’m making dishcloths for a friend of my mom’s. One more to go.
MWAH!!
Only 3 more hours until the stores stop selling booze for the night. I wish I could buy some.
Yeah, it’s been another bad day, with no good days in sight.
Asian BBQ chicken with lemongrass thyme rice for dinner. And a couple of local brews from Highlands brewery(Cats’s neck of the woods)

There’s a line of tstorms headed this way. Already there’s flash flood warnin’s to the west of here. Come on storms!
My hugs and best prayers and wishes your way. And take it from someone older and dummer, booze really doesn’t help any - not even really dulling the pain. It just makes you blurry enough to keep the hurt going longer. Bad days will still happen and the urge will always be there but it does lessen over time and the whole world slowly eases.
I’m sure that Buttercup, being in Florida, isn’t as bad off as we are in California. I’m really hoping that the incoming clouds mean some hope of rain here.
Attitude Kid struck again, trying to override my explanation of policy to a customer by telling her to go over my head to a manager. Said manager, incidentally, told the customer the very same thing I had.
