Fixed a couple things that came up on Bessie – valve stem mostly - and did a little ride. Ran a lot of errands and got some meat at Sams to smoke tomorrow. The freezer run-eth low and restocking will be the after church shore for the day. From prayer to swinging an ax – yeah, there really is just something Old Testament in me for some reason.
G-d: Abraham!
Abe: Smack! What?
G-d: Never mind.
Come on, that is funny.
Naomi?
Swampy?
Mom?
Oye.
I have vision, and the rest of the MMP wears bifocals.
:dubious:
Maybe it’s not funny.
I am irked. I just spent an hour driving out to a store to get the key from the closing manager, and it turns out there was another spare key in the safe. I could have stopped on the way home from work.
Your experience is sure as hell not funny, I’ll give you that.
I had the same experience “repairing” a Windows server, but at least I was paid for it.
:dubious:
Home and munching therapy nachos. Attitude Kid decided against mouthing off to me today (one of the few smart decisions I’ve known him to make), but did flat-out inform another lead he wasn’t going to listen to her because he’s supposedly a better cashier than she is.
She is quite rightly seriously POed over this, and does have me as supporting witness to that little incident. I explained to AK (doing my best to mediate) that our supervisor is quite choosy about her leads, basing her decision on experience and demonstrated skill as a cashier, plus having good reason to think someone can be a good leader. I doubt he took me seriously, but my co-lead appreciated having the backup.
AK also seriously annoyed a quite good cashier with other BS antics. I’m not going to report things to my supervisor that I am not directly involved in (that gets a bit closer to “schoolyard tattle-tale” than I like), but I did make sure the other cashier has our supervisor’s email address to file a report of her own. Co-lead says supervisor directly told her she wants this stuff in email to document it, so she’ll get it. (Note: most of our department, including supervisor and all three leads, are women. AK is one of two males in the department. I hesitate to call him a man, due to immaturity. Our other male, OTOH, is a hardworking, dependable, civilized young man who doesn’t like AK any more than any of the women in the department do. Other departments have had issues with AK, too.)
I’m with doggio on this, flytrap. It wasn’t that funny.
**Nettie **- it sure sounds to me like AK needs to be handed his walking papers. But what do I know - I sucked as a manager…
Good morning, sorta. I’m up, sorta. I woke several times during the night with coughing fits, and now my throat hurts something awful. I was going to do brunch today with **FCD **and his HOG chapter, but that ain’t happening.
In fact, I doubt that anything will be happening today, at least on my part. This cold is kicking my butt, and my throat, and my lungs, and my nose. ugh. whine whine whine whine Is it too much to ask for 7 or 8 uninterrupted hours of sleep??
Yeah, yeah, Happy Sunday. ugh.
Up, caffeinated, off to work.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 72 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 87 for the day and lots of rain predicted. We shall see. I shall be readin’ The Prayers of The People at deheathenization this mornin’. YP Wife was supposed to do this but as I mentioned Thursday and Friday she got kinda busy, or as we put it in texts to each other, she had sump’n come out.
flytrap fwiw, I thought it was kinda funny. Then again I am a sick, twisted individual so that might not be the endorsement you are lookin’ for.
Sari maybe Sah-son does need to go it on his own. Maybe it will be the learnin’ experience that will cause him to ease up a bit.
Nettie AK sounds like a piece of work. Here’s hopin’ he gets the knot jerked in him he deserves.
{{{MOOOOOOM}}} feel better soonest!
OK, that’s all I got. I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. At some point I must also commence purtification for deheathenization.
Happy Sunday Y’all!
Happy Sunday!
The weather is nice.
I’ve been awake since 4am and so far I am on 2nd load of laundry, vacuumed the floors, helped the kid finish a paper and submit it - WORD sucks, probably not, I just don’t know all the tricks to it.
I finally finished off a bottle of laundry detergent that I didn’t like. Didn’t like smell but it was an earth friendly concentrated detergent so I used it anyway.
Doggio shitty thing irk did to you
Hope you feel better FCM
The kid has a paper due by 10pm
I don’t mind helping him except he takes too damn long.
I can tell its going to be another grumpy day I think.
**sari **- I have to buy unscented detergents and softeners. I don’t know what the manufacturers use to make their products “Springtime Flowers” or Mountain Breeze" or whatever, but besides being overpowering, the smells give me a headache. I have an almost full bottle of Purex in supposedly Mountain Fresh scent - I can’t use it, so it sits behind the good products, in case of a detergent shortage emergency.
**FCD **has headed out on his Harley ride. I’m thinking I might try to go back to bed. Or just assume the position and Netflix my day away. I feel crappy and I feel tired and now my head is starting to feel congested. Summer colds really do suck. My sis is just getting over hers - she said it lasted 2 weeks, which means I’ve got another week to go. ick.
Reviving the MMP.
We got lots of thunderboomers and rain last night and a little more today. I think there is even more on the way.
It’s been a lazy Sunday here. Not much of anything has been accomplished yet. I am about to go roast a chicken and come up some some side dishes. Got to get some laundry rolling since hubby fixed the washer and need to mop the living room floor to clean up all the mud that has been tracked in. Fun stuff.
A lazy day here at da cave. Outside of deheathenization nuttin’ has been accomplished. As far as comestibles are concerned it’s been a forage da fridge kind of day. I can say, however, that nappage was accomplished.
I can’t stop yawning.
I took a little bitty nap earlier.
I got a little more cleaning done, irked a little. One last load to put in the dryer.
I’m debating washing the doggie blanket.
I think it can wait, it’d be better to wash it early ans hang it outside.
I think I’ll put some chicken in the oven.
I thought we’d have enough groceries for two weeks but I need to make out a list for tomorrow.
Have to remember today is trash day too. The recycle bin is stuffed.
How do you manage fresh food for two weeks? I usually freeze what meat I don’t cook and throw it away a month latter.
**FCD **has been back an hour or so. The house is closed and the a/c is on. He doesn’t want supper, so I’m going to make some mac-n-cheese for me later. Meanwhile, I’m crocheting and watching miscellaneous crap on TV as **FCD **channel surfs.
Lazy, lazy day…
We don’t.
We eat the fresh stuff first then onto the canned and frozen. I’ll keep frozen meat longer than a month.
Besides I’m not too domestic anymore. I used to cook full meals every night but not anymore. I’m just as happy to open a can of soup and call it dinner.
Maybe I should get back into cooking.
I got out of it when I was living at my mother’s and one night as we were eating dinner she started giving me a bunch of shit about how I never did anything. I said ‘I cooked the dinner you are eating’ and she said ‘BIG DEAL, so you peeled a few potatoes and put some chicken in the oven, you call that cooking?’
I figured since it wasn’t a big deal then she could do her own damn cooking and that the last time I ever cooked a family meal in her house.
What made it so funny though was the next night she made lasagna. Which means she took a box out of the freezer (but in all fairness she did go to the store to get it), took the aluminum tray out, peeled off the top and put it in the oven.
From the way she went on and on about the lasagna you would have thought she milked her own cows/goats for the cheese, ground her own wheat into flour for the noodles, and harvested her own tomatoes for the sauce. Even my niece turned to me and whispered ‘does she want a medal or something?’
Such is my mother, drama is her name.
My son’s father was a lot the same. He used to sit and eat the dinner I cooked and bitch at me that I was lazy.
I used to cook his breakfast every morning and wake him to serve it to him in bed, as well as pack his lunch. Packing his lunch meant two different sandwiches, with no overlap. If one had ham the other had to have roast beef, two different cheeses, two different breads, two different fruits and two different drinks. Had to be mixed up from the day before as well.
One morning he started giving me a bunch of shit and I said well I cook your breakfast every morning, and pack your lunch too. He said BIG DEAL, so it takes you 3 minutes to scramble some eggs and 5 minutes to pack my lunch. Of course that leaves out that I did all the shopping and clean up too. All while taking care of a baby.
I said you’re right, it’s not a big deal. So I’ll start waking you up 10 minutes earlier and you can take 3 minutes to scramble your own eggs, and 5 minutes to pack your own lunch and the 2 extra minutes leaves you just enough time to go fuck yourself.
And people wonder why I am such a bitch.
I believe many people quit cooking because they are interested in feeding a hungry child rather than cooking something aesthetically pleasing.
Memo to self: Do not annoy Sahirrnee.
Not only do I not throw away frozen meat after a month, I’ve got some chicken in there from last October… or is that what I used to make the chicken soup the other day? In any case, I have yet to thaw something that was inedible due to age.
Meanwhile, I’m ingesting some mac-n-cheese. It’s soothing on my raw throat. This cold sucks.
