Fun fact: Mr. Rogers had a degree in music composition and wrote his show’s song himself, if I remember correctly.
I went to the grocery store this morning. I managed to get some more chocolate. (and other items.) I’m also the healthiest person in the world because I bought some carrots.
Back from erranding. I’ve got 480# of topsoil, a bag of grass seed, and a straw mat to use as mulch when I plant it. I also got a second sprinkler, so one for the front and one for the back. Yay! I may go ahead and fill and seed the small patch in the back yard. I’ll leave the hill and the patch in the front yard for another day.
I also got the critter kibbles, cat litter, and a couple of other items. Now I’m having a bowl of watermelon chunks because I’m thirsty, but not so much hungry. And I’s tahred. I may assume the crochet position shortly and turn on Netflix.
It’s a beautiful sunny 69 degrees today with a high of 78.
This is what weather should be.
I overslept and was late for irk again today. Two days in a row but no nasty email today either.
Helped Sah-son with his assignments last night. I proofread for him and helped him figure out the Moodle system. He is so anal with his work. Two of the assignments were introducing yourself to the class, you’d think that would be easy. For the English class he had to tell one interesting thing about himself. That left both of us just staring at each other because we are probably the two most boring people on earth.
He is anal about sentence structure and grammar. Then again so am I, so last night we learned the difference between media and mediums.
Some of his classmates have pretty sloppy writing, I was kind of surprised. You’d think if you are turning in an assignment you’d know the difference between ‘there’ and ‘their’ and that the word ‘I’ should be capitalized. I was also surprised at how many of the art students admitted to not liking art and are only taking the class because it is required. Even it it’s the truth, I think there are better ways to say it.
Trying to get my brain booted up for the day (took a half dose of Nyquil before bed, fearing I might be coming down with something). Day off, but I do have homework and class to deal with today.
Do cats ever lose their voices? I love her, and all that, but if there’s a way to shut a Siamese up for any length of time, I have yet to find it.
I feel that I have been tacitly blurfed by anyone who hasn’t posted anything to the contrary. Blurfage being inhibitory to communication and all.
I have had an epiphany. Mark Twain said, “Eat a live frog first thing in the morning and nothing worse will happen to you the rest of the day.” To that I say, “Eat chocolate truffle cheese first thing in the morning and the rest of the day will feel pretty good.” Mmmm. Cheese cake is the anti-blurf.
Howdy from da cave! Day four of irk survived. Tomorrow I have an irk from da cave day. Just wish I didn’t have the long commute that goes with irk from da cave days. Dindin tonight shall be all the leftovers in da fridge. I will, however, heat 'em up cause I’m all thoughtful like that.
BLURF Tis almost time to head home from irk. Of course I pretty much come and go as I please but decided to stay today. Tomorrow may be a short day though. I checked my leave balance today and I need to use about three weeks worth of leave before the end of the year or lose it. I am not going to lose it so I see some short days. I cannot just take off as it is a very busy time for me with the end of the FY approaching. Some things no one but me can do.
We have had on and off rain today which I love. Still got an eye on Tropical Storm Erika and we are still in the cone of uncertainty. Come on Erika. I need a few days off.
A good friend and member of my church died yesterday afternoon. Dave was just a great guy. Funny, kind, compassionate, just a great guy to be around. He had been strugglin’ with cancer for the past year and a half. His funeral will be Sattidy afternoon. RIP Dave, one of the great ones.
Now the glad.
YP’s wife is in the horsepistol soon to give birth to their son. He’s makin’ an entrance about a week early, as did their daughter. So we shall soon welcome YP III. YAY!
Dindin has been et. The leftovers were from last night and the night before, so we had roast beast, rice 'n gravy and enchiladas. Kind of a Mexican/Southern fusion thing.
I decided to watch Les Miz this afternoon. I know most of the music but I’d never seen any stage production of it. Besides, I’ve had a lust-crush on Hugh Jackman for decades. I’m spoilering my thoughts in case those of you who want to see it haven’t yet done so.
I wasn’t moved when Javert threw himself off the bridge - I’ve never been much of a Russell Crowe fan. But when Jean Valjean dies at the end, I just lost it. I haven’t cried that much at a movie in a very long time. So to stabilize my emotions, I am having TWO pieces of cheesecake.
Aaarrrrgggg!!!1!!! Damn washing machine has died. Now hubby can fix anything from a broken heart to the crack of dawn but will he? No. Moooommmm you jinxed me.
