Heroes 10/23 "Hiro's" (spoilers)

I just have to say, I love Hiro.

Some thoughts -

-The cop wasn’t mindwiped and he didn’t lose his power so what were they looking for and what did they get rid of, besides his memory of his abduction?

-Evil Dad may not be that evil. They didn’t kill the cop. He didn’t shoot Nathan when he had the chance - he could have wounded him if they really wanted him - and he protected Claire. We don’t know that he (or his people) killed Papa Suresh, we just know that he hinted to Mohinder that he knew who he was. I think that Evil Dad may work for a group that’s just watching these “supers”, maybe they know something about how these powers have come about. Maybe they are looking for Sylar and that is why they are grabbing supers and checking them out to see if they’re Sylar?

-Niki’s hubby seems to either have the ability to turn invisible or he can phase through objects. It was hard to tell just from the little bit we saw but in the preview it looks like he comes out of the wall. I think Micah knows what dad can do AND I think he knows that mom has abilities too.

-The painting Peter finished of the Cheerleader did look like the top of her head may have been gone. So I guess she’s a potential Sylar victim. Was she on Sylar’s map?

-I think Nathan may have been practicing a bit in the privacy of his own home (back yard) or he got lucky with that supersonic speed kicking in like it did.

-Hiro is so cute. So did we all catch his comment about his going back to give Peter the message was risking a rift in time? I wonder how he finds out about this possibility?

They said he “pulled a Houdini.” The way he snuck into the house seems to imply he can walk through walls.

Sneaked.

Snocked?

I am leaning toward the phasing through objects thing by what we already know (getting out of handcuffs) and it sure looked like he came through the wall.

He’s a comic book nerd. This knowledge comes pre-wired in us.

Bold prediction: NBC will not make both of the most prominent black characters we’ve seen in the show villains. Nikki’s husband will turn out to be mostly good.

Loved the scene after Nathan had “congress” with the dopplebanger. As for the painting, could it be that Syler kills the cheerleader that took the credit for the train rescue? I thought they said she would get to ride on the float at homecoming. This writing on this show has the density of a neutron star. Any more glyph sightings?

Frying Man er… Flying man was awesome. The gym’s been good to him evidently. I loved that circle-shaped sonic “poof” he made when he took off. I won’t even try to fan-wank what exactly could cause that effect. All I want to know is if he took off that fast, how did his britches stay on? And his feet would be hamburger after that landing outside the diner.

Big meanie flying congressman brother disappointed me a bit last week but he totally charmed his way back into my good graces this week.

“I’ll take my 4 million and leave.”
“We agreed on 2 million. That’s very generous.”
“2 Million gets you a candidate in your pocket. 4 million gets you a congressman.” Big shark grin.

But, if this Linderman person has a video of Nathan & Niki does he also have a video of EvilDad snatching Nathan?

Peter’s bangs are very comic book. I have to admit though, every time he brushes those bangs out of his face I want to tackle him and take a scissors to 'em. Just hold still! This’ll just take a sec! Quit squirming! Maybe that’s how he gets his scar?

I’m liking EvilDad more and more. Can he really be evil? He’s an awfully nice evil guy.

His assistant evidently doesn’t erase powers, just memories. He couldn’t stop Nathan taking off flying. He only erased a few hours from Telepa-cap. Wiped rapist QB pretty clean though.

Mohinder was a little irritating. Denial ain’t a river in Egypt and all that. Look, either you believe in all this weirdness or you don’t. Quit waffling, you big baby.

Niki’s husband looks to be a Kitty Pryde/Vision type. Invisibility & intangibility. Kiddo knows about dad though and I still wonder if there isn’t some strange connection between dad & son power-wise.

Telepa-Matt’s story is cute & all but his wife was a bit bitchy. Well, last week she was and I figured he was better off without her. But this week she’s all genuinely concerned about him and stuff. Bleh. But what an incredible lover to have. He knows everything you want.

Ando is hilarious. What was he thinking, walking into internet stripper’s house? Dumbass. So, Hiro & Ando still had their suitcases when they got thrown out of the van. Did they get to keep any of their money?

Amen brother (or sister).

I figure the casino couldn’t prove they were cheating, so they couldn’t take back any of the money won at roulette or blackjack or anything like that, and the guy they cheated at poker (which Hiro really needs to learn how to do if he’s going to keep that up <_< ) probably only took what they cheated him out of.

(Also, FTR, brother would be the correct sibling reference.)

Theory about Evil Dad…he seems to get from place to place VERY fast. Either he has a teleporter at his disposal, is one himself or…there’s more than one of him.

His were the only scenes I thought were wasted this week. They could have conveyed what was happening between him and his wife a little more quickly.

And for the record, I don’t know that I’d be too keen on the whole “spouse who reads your mind” thing. I picture Jennifer Connely in that “Career Opportunities” outfit just once and suddenly I’m sleeping on the couch.

Bold speculation: Do we really know that Claire’s father and his sidekick are evil? He turned our view of him around a little tonight when he protected Claire. I don’t think he’s going to help Sylar add her brain to his growing collection. And while we’re at it, we don’t know that D.L. is villainous either. He could have been framed and had no way to explain himself without revealing his powers.

Yes, definitely appeared to be some sort of intangability/phasing out of shadows thing. Thus we shall call him Ghost Dad.

So either DoppelNiki doesn’t fog video recordings or she didn’t care that she was being recorded.

When planes brake the sound barrier it looks like this. Or this. No fan-wank needed.

They of course break the sound barrier. :smack:

I am leaning towards Creepy Dad not being evil. More an ends justify the means kind of guy. Seems like he is looking for answers. Not sure who he is working for yet. There is someone or something else that is evil which we haven’t seen yet.

OK, so can Hior read English or can’t he? He apparently remembered the newspaper headline from his time-jump, but couldn’t decipher the owner’s manual for the car.

Or was the “Petrelli wins in Landslide” thing on the TV?

Also, it would be cool to eat at a diner where they not only have waffles but they don’t make you pay for anything. Flying Petrelli brother shows up in jammies and no shirt, orders a t-shirt and coffee, and leaves without ever paying for anything. Unless he hides an Amex in his buttcrack, how did he pay? Hiro and Ando are probably cleaned out as well…no way that guy beats the crap out of him and doesn’t take ALL the money instead of just what’s rightfully his. But they never got around tro ordering anything, so there is nothing to overlook for them.

Other than that, this was an awesome episode, Abrams could stand to learn a few things from Fuller.

The guy that brought the car settled up off camera.

“Petrelli Wins In Landslide” is a lot easier to decipher than the owner’s manual for a car when you don’t drive. He clearly has some working knowledge of written English (since he could read the comic book) so I’m not bothered by his having trouble with the manual.

Hiro and I have very similar reactions to waffles. He never fails to amuse me. Hiro, Peter, and to some extent Matt are the only heroes who are really trying to embrace (or at least understand) their powers. The underachieving and/or unappreciated. Trite, but it works very well. And Peter might be hot if he got that emo hair out of his face.

Oh, and I am duty-bound to report that a friend of mine who lurks has suggested “Hollow Man” as a temporary name for EvilDad’s sidekick, until we get a better name.

I think it is like me and religion. I believe in God but if someone says they see him or witness a miracle, I am skeptical.

I think Mohinder’s belief is more abstract at this point.

Overall, good episode. Most of the high points have been touched on.

  • Nerdy Hiro is much more compelling than Matrix Hiro.

  • EvilDad might not be so evil. He sure is creepy though.

  • One problem I have with the show is that they always take the easy way out in the storytelling. That scene where Claire goes into QBrapist’s room was pretty hammy. It was like those scenes in comics where the villain is talking to himself and the hero overhears the plan. It is like there was no better way to tell the story.

As you should be. I believe in God, and I certainly believe that miracles can and do occur. However, I also think that the majority of alleged miracles out there are nothing of the sort.
